Margaritaville would fit great in the park. I could see that working out well. I don't see a late night club ever happening. There are times when we've stayed there and went down to TGIF for a nightcap. There not very busy from 12-1. If it was elbow to elbow in there I'm sure we'd see something bigger. I get that fridays is just a bar and not a nightclub. But if the bar isn't thriving late at night the club isn't going to be.
I've seen the bar at Friday's still busy at 1am, but a Margaritaville type place would do good business throughout the day and night, especially if they have some type of entertainment.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I'm not liking the interiors in the rooms. Did it really need this heavy theming with the giant graphic on the headboards? We know we're at an amusement park! We don't need a huge stamp of the giant wheel in our face in bed. Lol! The comforters are also a hideous fabric choice. Come on.
I like the rooms besides the red chair and red mirror. Looks a little childish, but still an improvement!
It's new, which is better, but the bright red chair and mirror freak me out. It doesn't look classy.
I like the new rooms, it is a massive improvement from the dark, old, and dreary decor currently there. I think it is a modern, not childish look.
In my past 3 Hotel Breakers stays, all the rooms, in different sections, all have the same problem-DRAB and dark. Opening the curtain(s) doesn't help. IMO, some brightness needs brought in-new fixtures, paint and the like. I also feel the headboards are odd. I thought maybe a more nautical theme would be used. But it looks like a 'time gone past boardwalk amusement park' theme has been brought into play. It's somewhat nostalgic and appropriate. Anything new & fresh will be very welcome. We're already planning 2015 over nighters!
Keep passing the fun along!
I agree with JUnderhill. The new rooms are a considerable improvement. (And I'm old enough to remember staying at the Breakers when the room key was an actual key.)
Hotel Breakers photos from Saturday:
Great photos. It is downright surreal at how quickly the face of the hotel is changing. While it's hard not to be more than a bit nostalgic about seeing the old stuff leave it certainly was time to bring the facilities up-to-speed.
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
Not sure if it was written anywhere but all of the renderings show Bon Aire gone, replaced by parking.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
It's also closing early (I believe). They've also blocked off only Bon Aire and setup a chute on the beach-facing fire escape to presumably gut the place before demolition (though they could do the same before extensive renovations..).
So sad that they are getting rid of a real liability like Bon Aire. They need to get rid of a few other "way too old" structures.

Without question a wood framed hotel would make me nervous but it is a risk that can be managed. The question could be one of cost of renovating it to any acceptable standard.
What are the other "way too old" structures you speak of? Cedars would be my obvious thought.

Any chance the new East pool might be getting a small slide, or theming to fit with the new victorian architecture? Think something similar to Disney's pools. They could really do a lot to improve that pool. The mushroom thing is incredibly ugly and the hot tub is too small. Even more so now that the two hot tubs in front of the rotunda are gone.
