Bon Aire section and other exterior changes to Hotel Breakers

The Surf Lounge goes way back in history of the hotel. It's not about surfing, the name surf refers to the waves breaking on the shore.

See fair reason, I didn't know that, & like I said simple gripe.

Corkscrew, Power Tower, Magnum, & Monster/ Witches Wheel Crew 2011

I'm just blown away that the most beautiful aspects of this hotel are going back to their roots.
Grand entrance....so annoyed with the current entrance that looks like a run down tunnel going down a hall that harks to the 1960's

Utilization of the Rotunda....Everytime I stay there I am amazed that the space is essentially devoid of people because there isn't anything in there except chairs. The surf lounge and Starbucks is a great plan.

Grand walkway to the beach.....the original Breakers embraced the beach and now becomes the way it was originally designed. I love the way you'll exit the hotel onto the beach area.

Matt and Brian are common sense geniuses!

^ I agree!!

The new kids pool should help lighten the load of children hanging at the hot tubs and main pool area.

Brilliant move!

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

The main pool wasn't in the renderings. Is there still going to be one--or is the kids pool the only one? Would anyone happen to have any more renderings that aren't in the video that Cedar Point posted today?

It looks like the kids pool is located in the former green area between the rotunda wing and Breakers East.

I too am really curious how the Breakers East pool area will be reconfigured (if at all). The spa there is rather small, especially when compared to the huge spa which was removed along with the main pool.

If all the players are ready...at the sound of the bell, ROLL EM!

There is a pool inside already. There is a giant pool right outside with a lot of sand and waves.

The pool by Breakers East isn't going anywhere and they are adding the kids area. The kids pool area is something that Breakers has been lacking compared to similar resorts. There will be ample swimming space at Breakers after these renovations. Especially after the net loss of rooms due to the razing of Bon Air.

I would think they would redo the the small hot tub. When I was there in June the water level was too low for the filters. We mentioned it to a maintenance guy, he said it leaked. Later that day it was refilled and the water was clean again.

I think Cedar Point might possibly be in for one more year of hotel improvements. The upgrades were to run from 2013 to 2015, according to news article by the Toledo Blade, which would be this coming year and originally sounded like it would include more than just Hotel Breakers. Granted, LightHouse Point was also expanded this year, but I wonder if Sandcastle Suites might be in for an upgrade soon. In the "good, better, best" model, Cedar Point would seem to currently have "good" and "best" covered. Or might SS be "better?"

http://www.toledoblade.com/State/2012/12/02/Firm-to-invest-60M-to-r...rties.html

"Overall, the goal is to create a pricing tier of good-better-best so that there will be nice accommodations for every visitor’s budget, from high-end spenders to budget-conscious families."

"Once the hotel properties are upgraded, Mr. Ouimet said, Cedar Point will be in position to do two things: offer customers new vacation packages that include lodging and park admissions, and create more nighttime entertainment, such as the Luminosity light and dance show that debuted this past season."

Thoughts?

I see the concept with the pricing tier of good, better & best. But from what I have seen & read so for-from many sources, the 'good' portion has been shaved down as far as availability. I looked into 2015 Hotel Breakers rates. On-line , only rooms with multiple beds were offered. We only need one bed. I'm sure there are many guests that only want a single bed. Live chat confirmed there will be only single king beds offered this year, and rate hasn't been decided, so those aren't posted on website yet. So, at this point, I see the single or duo travelers getting stuck at a higher rate, potentially.

Keep passing the fun along!

^Looking into making reservations for May but I guess I should hold off until they decide how it all shakes out. I liked the packages with tickets and I didn't see those offered yet. But return code works again. Also, has anyone seen an operating schedule yet? If so, would you be so kind as to share? :)

The beach party they tried. Very nice idea, folks turned-out for it.

Taking a thought from the cruise industry they might consider "mature" themed acts, specifically using one of the theaters for a stand-up comic act, etc. Screen the kids out for example at the Palace or Red Garter after 11 p.m.

Shift from the day-time strolling music for more mellow adult lounge lizard types in other places, amp-up the adult beverages with full bar service at existing venues.

Lots of directions they COULD go in.

I have a sentimental attachment to the "old" Hotel Breakers... but my last two stays at Breakers were purely for sentiment's sake, not for the quality of the rooms.

In its day, the Breakers was state of the art -- why, some of its rooms even had private bathrooms back then.

But over the decades the hotel became increasingly shabby.

I'm so happy to see Hotel Breakers being updated and improved like this.

SO the rates are up for the new rooms. It seems you can only book two types of rooms. A suite or regular room. What about the different types of suites? Snoopy suites, horizon suites, presidential suites, etc.

Also for those questioning the Breakers East pool it looks like it will be staying...

If you read the hotel details on the site:

"Outdoor & Indoor Pool and Hot Tub"
"Outdoor water play area"

Also this I found interesting:

"Fitness Center"

Wonder where this will go?

I think they only have the Breakers East rooms in the reservation system for now. Maybe to play it safe in case the construction in the main part of the hotel runs into delays.

There aren't any concierge floor rooms in the system yet either so it appears your right as far as East rooms only at this point.

Has anyone seen any mention of elevators for the Rotunda section of the hotel? If they are going to put rooms up on the fourth and/or fifth floors of the Rotunda then I wonder if they are going to put elevators as well.

I like the renderings. This is long overdue and I'm so excited that the Breakers is finally getting the attention it is due. Kids pool looks like a great addition as well.

The BonAire section of the hotel took up a significant chunk of land. Is that just going to be converted to parking now or does that open up some space for a Soak City expansion?
