I have to say that I'm about 100% positive we'll get a coaster in 2013. They said we'll get a big announcement at this time next year which will be during coaster mania and they wouldn't announce more dinosaurs during "coaster"mania.
Before there was a chance we could get one or just a lot of people hoping we would, but I really don't see cedar point going till 2014 for a coaster. That would just be crazy.
I'd guess that we'll start seeing markings near blue streak and those cars. They haven't had a new ride in that area for a long time, that area could use some attention. They focused on the oceana midway with wind seeker, wiicked twister, planet snoopy, they focused on frontier town with sky hawk, maverick, shoot the rapids and starlight experience.
The one problem I have is I want a B&M, but I'm not liking the idea of 2 B&Ms right next to each other.
I think they planned a coaster for 2012, but everybody's opening a new coaster in 2012 across the country and with dinosaurs alive being a hit, they decided to wait a year to get more attention on their new coaster. But I'm positive 2013 will be our year.

It might just be me, but a B&M going @ Cedar Point really doesn't seem like it would happen. Unless it were a Wing-Rider or Dive Machine, all of their other designs are to similar to what the park has, or what other parks in the company have.
I don't know why Cedar Fair has stuck with the same ride manufactures for their roller coasters (B&M, Intamin AG, and GCI). There are so many other manufactures such as Zierer, MACK, Premier, Gravity Group, and Gerstlauer that all have great rides which might come with a smaller price tag. Cedar Fair really has a problem taking risks recently. Leviathan is a great example; rather than putting in an awesome Giga Coaster, they are putting in a similar design of Behemoth, just 100 ft taller.
I have to give Six Flags credit for their marquee additions over the past and upcoming year at their parks. Dare Devil Dive at Six Flags over Georgia is doing amazing; plus Discovery Kingdom is taking a risk with it's new Premier Rides roller coaster.
^ I agree. Mantis is basically the same concept as raptor. They feel almost like the same ride except for the standing up part. I really dnt want to see an intamin. The intamin coasters we have are great, but we have too many of them in a row. If it were to be an intaminI i think it would be a zacspin and I DO NOT want one of those.
A B&M right next to a B&M would look a little weird. And if a B&M were to go there. We can just about take out any chance of a flyer. Its basically the same thing as raptor.
I would like a flyer at the park but not right next to an inverted coaster.
THe best bet would be a wing rider or a dove machine as stated above. I think a dive would be cool, but then wed have 4 straight down coaster. Wicked twister, TTD, maverick, and the the dive being the fourth. So I think the Wing Rider would be the best bet.
And possibley a new woodie. But im not putting my money on that.
After going to the park this weekend, I would like to see Cedar Point add some more lights to their coasters again!
I was shocked at how many of the coasters were operating 'in the dark'!
It would be great to add some more of those super-bright LED lights like on Windseeker to some of the coasters.
They turn many lights off for Halloweekends at the Park to get darker for the Scare Zones and other things too.
Oh! ... That's good to know! I only go for Halloweekends, so that may be why I haven't seen many lights the last few years.
Did I really just read the Mantis is pretty much the same ride as Raptor? Might be the dumbest thing I have ever read.

I do agree with b&M being clones. Diamondback, intimidator and behemoth are all the same concept. They all have about the same height and they all turn around at like the end and before the station they do a circle then dip down. It's the same. Same with B&Ms stand ups, fllorless and the other, they all take a curved drop then do a loop and so on.
You rarely get the same ride with inatmin. I would like to see a B&M at the park but it has to be different than raptor and mantis

Hey everyone I was just thinking about this today and I was wondering what you all think. In the past 11 years, cedar point has had 4 coasters. They have all been cable lifts or launches. Do you think cedar point will ever see a chain lift again or will all their new coasters be cable lifts and launches?

They are rather close IMO. If Mantis was a fjloorless rather than a standup, it would feel almost the same.
I think it was said that B&M may eventually turn the Wing rider trains into 4D spinning seat trains. I could see Cedar Point getting one of those.

First Top Thrill Dragster train of 2011!
Rollbacks: 1st Triple Rollback of 2009!
^^Thats like saying Maverick and TTD are the same because they launch. You do realize that Raptor's trains are under the track and Mantis' trains are above and ya stand up, right? Besides them having B&M box track, they aren't really alike at all.

What is 1 minus 12E?
Sadly, I think that might give you an imaginary number. ;)
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

Wait, you...don't think Maverick and Dragster are the same??
A new B&M in the area between Blue Streak and Raptor sounds great to me. I'd also entertain the idea of burning Mean Streak down.

The key word there was IMO - in my opinion...
It doesn't mean you have to think they same thing. But when i ride them, if you take out the comparison of standing up and hanging down, they resemble the same features. Quick turns and crazy inversions. They have similar elements.
Similar features? Like hills and inversions? Well, Maverick has hills & inversions too. After all, there's only so much you can do with a coaster layout.
