What Would You (Realistically) Like To See @ Cedar Point in the Future

Similar features? Like hills and inversions? Well, Maverick has hills & inversions too. After all, there's only so much you can do with a coaster layout.

Those are a totally different type of hills and inversions though. I guess it's just personal opinion.

Does anybody think we've seen the end of the chain lift era at cedar point? We have not seen a chain lift since 1996 with Mantis. That's 15 years without a chain lift, will Cedar point ever have a chain lift again?

I do not think they are done with the chain lift. I think it is possible that Intamin may be fading away from the traditional chain lift. And we have seen this first hand since Millenium was built. All the coasters have been non chain.

I do think that if CP went to a different company like B&M, it would probably be a chain lift. Same as if they were to go with a wooden coaster company.

something like penguins blizzard river at sfa,el dorado, flying scooters, dark ride, the return of a paddlewheel boat in the laggons, something like flying ace aerial chase at kings island, and a monrail like geauga lake had.

Did you post a wrong link here? Just curious because it just shows people dancing.

There was probably a different video being spotlighted when SSL posted the link.

Wow I was just looking at the new cedar point website and I was looking at mean streaks pictures and there's a picture with colored lights shining on the mean streak. How long ago were those year? Were they removed with millenniums lights?

Im not sure if Mean Streak's lights were removed, but I do know that Millenium's lights are still there. They are just old and need to be replaced. CP has yet to replace them and they have been dull for at least the past 3 years. Maybe even more.

The Mean Streak colored lights in the picture do look cool, but I don't know if they just wore out like Millenium or if they actually took them out. I'm hoping that if they are just worn out, CP will replace them. I guess we will just have to wait and see...

Those don't look like colored spotlights. As far as I can remember, Mean Streak never had colored lights. There are probably two different types of bulbs being used. Think of it this way, CFU light bulbs have a different shade of white than incandescent.

I would like to see a ride like 'Samurai' at Thorpe Park.

That ride looks wicked!

^ Yep. You are right.

For what its worth, I could have sworn I saw MF's lights going during Halloweekends.

Imagine your favorite tv show. You've been through it all. The ups, the downs, the crazy coincidences and then bang! They tell you what it's all about. Would you be happy? Does it make sense? How come it all ended in a church? - Joker

I think they have one of those at Canada's Wonderland, I'm not sure though

I think MF's lights are always on at night, they have just really died down. They are hardly noticeable unless you are either on the train going next to it or right by the tunnel going toward FT.

I don't think the issue is HOW OFTEN the lights are turned on, but instead, the brightness and intensity in the colors. It just doesn't have the same "pop" that it used to when it opened. http://joyrides.com/cedar_point/photos/millennium_force4.jpg The lift hill had colored lights and the third and forth hill had white lights. http://www.coasterimage.com/pictures/albums/cedar-point-pictures/ro...orce06.jpg

I agree with your other lighting ideas too. I think doing things like replacing the Giant Wheel lights with LEDs (in the same pattern/fixture) as well as doing something like projecting "earth-tone blue" light onto Bluestreak's white supports, and replacing Corkscrew's, Blue Streak's and Mantis' "track" lights with LEDs (of the same arrangement/fixture) so they will last brighter, longer and look better.

If Cedar Point was looking at doing something near the beach, I think something along the lines of this would be great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdsTOjpL_-8 (and get rid of that awful cement square by the Gemini) as well as a seaside restaurant like this: http://www.beaches.com/media/slideshows/all-inclusive/restaurants/06-slide.jpg that resembled an Olive Garden or Red Lobster. I also think it would be neat if they built some type of Ripley's Museum- or something along those lines (like an aquarium), or a dark ride.

As far as Cedar Point's future, I've been seeing a lot of posts about a new wooden coaster coming to the park. Ed Dangler (Director of Maintenance) stated that they were not interested in a wooden coaster anytime soon (although that could have changed). As far as NEW coasters, I would like to consider something unique. Not a completely original idea, necessarily, but a twist on something already done. Also, when the technology is there, I would like to see another speed/height record breaking coaster. Just a thought.

Please let me know what you think about any of these ideas.

I like the idea of the restaurant, but it just looks... Too fancy IMO. It just doesn't look like something you would see at CP.

On the other hand, I totally forgot about the white lights on Millenium's other hills.

Can anyone think of a good reason. As to why they dont fix the lights? If they wont fix these, what wil happen when Dragster's lights go? Will they not replace those?

TTD 120mph's avatar

They actually have replaced Dragsters countdown tower lights multiple times.

They have to replace the tower lights because of FAA rules. There has to be lights on something over so much feet so they don't really have a choice about the tower lights.
