Back to the boardwalk idea...I was thinking (like so many others) of removing disaster transport for a nice woodie. It would give the area more of a desired boardwalk feel and it would get rid of that eye sore of a building. After the removal of disaster transport, I would like to see a nice long pier jutting out onto the beach and over the water. I know that they may have problems with the ice in the winter and spring, but I'm sure their is a company out their who knows how to make a pier in a cold weather area. First I think they should remove the dolphin stadium to open up the area between wicked twister and wind seeker. Start the pier there and have it extend out over the water. Fill it with games and maybe a few flats. I'm not sure if they could, but if they could somehow move the giant wheel out there, that could look amazing. With cedar point already lacking shows and entertainment, removing the stadium would just add to that, but I have an idea to replace all wheels extreme. Why not add street performers! Where I go every year in Florida (Clearwater beach) at pier 60 they have tons of shows that really make the experience down there so great. Why not get some fire breathers, some break dancers, and some BMX bikers down there and let them perform right in-between wind seeker and wicked twister. I really think that would really inhance that area of the park, by removing two eyesores in disaster transport and the dolphin stadium, adding exciting and entertaining shows, and adding a great coaster to a lineup that is really lacking a good wooden coaster. So, what do you think?

Don't think it falls into the "realistic" category at all, but I'd love to see them take on a long term restructuring plan, even if it took a decade start to finish. For example, first solve the parking issue with either a garage or offsite parking. If it's a garage, they could gain back at least half of the lot for building. Then move the entrance a bit closer to the marina so they could phase out the side marina entrance. Also move any offices or other buildings that can be moved in time to clear up additional space into what remains of the old parking lot. Then over time move or rebuild soak city and the challenge park into the other half of the parking lot adjacent to the new parking garage.
With all of that done over a long stretch of time they would then have all sorts of space to expand into for the forseeable future, in which I'd love to see at least 2 dark rides (one for kids and a haunted castle type ride) and maybe a new themed area, either the boardwalk concept or an Adventure themed area if I got to choose.
But seeing as how I'm not an engineer and also have no idea what something like that would cost, that's just my "roller coaster tycoon" mentality talking.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. CP needs a couple of medium to high capacity dark rides (the low capacity of the former Freedomland rides did them in). Next they need to add to the flat ride lineup. Last but certainly not least is restore the Midway carousel band organ and obtain a replacement organ for the Kiddie Kingdom machine (the organ that came with it was replaced with an instrument built up from church organ pipes some twenty-five years ago, and it's also now non functional). The excuse that they can't find anyone to work on them is bogus. There are a number of technicians in the midwest that are very capable of doing the work. You just have to open the check book a little bit.
Like what others have said...I would definitely like to see an update to Soak City and some type of boardwalk or pier attraction.
Another idea I thought would be interesting would be a musuem commemorating coasters, perhaps a roller coaster hall of fame. This could include models of famous coasters from around the world, a bit about the history of coasters, information about the science behind coasters, and displays of lesser known facts about coasters. I feel this would have an appeal to amusement park fans, diversify the types of attractions at CP, could serve as a nice air conditioned break from the heat, and add to the number of things to do on a rainy day. Also, it would clearly make CP even more undisputed in being the roller coaster capital of the world if it had a museum on the subject. I'm not sure if such a thing exists somewhere else, but it could be an interesting addition.

REALISTIC AND CHEAP - restore the glory of Frontier Town and Frontier Trail and hide all park seams in the themed areas.
Probably nothing new here - just my possibly redundant 2 cents.
I would love to see a thick row of evergreens planted between Planning and Design and Boneville. Cheap, easy, and it would eventually darken the area and give it the illusion of being in the deep woods -- again. The ride looks fantastic except for the fact that you can see through it. I would do the same along the train route on the lake side of the park and throw in some static theme elements as well. Billboards, tombstones, old train yard stuff from the bone yard. I would again do this all around the lagoon, or change the ride to transportation system, (with a second stop near Saville), with views of the rides and some Peanuts camping displays. The existing stunts could be set up around the water rides and the outbound train rails. I would rather keeps the Paddlewheel Excursions as is with some major upgrades, but times change. No need to see the back of the displays from the train, or storage shed and even the Dragster. Cover every chain link fence in the park with vines. Re-theme the 3- Point challenge or move it out of the area, and you once again have the best themed frontier area of any amusement park - including Disney. Disney is prettier and more detailed, but you are always just around the corner from a jungle or fantasy kingdom. Cedar Point actually feels like you are going back in time - and you earn the right to be there be walking almost a mile -- the atmosphere lets you fill in the blanks and the experience is more organic. It might take 4 or 5 years to get the real benefit of this addition.
Also let all your staff of artist go hog wild on Disaster Transport if it is going to stay in the park. No props or animatronics, just detailed paintings of stars and space adventure - inside and out. Give the waiting area and outside a “B Movie” kind of vibe inspired by vintage movie art. Ad a much more detailed soundtrack to play while you wait and possibly in the ride as well. Cheap and realistic -- if it’s going to stay.
Like the idea for the roller coaster museum. Realistic and do-able. Don’t know if they would go for showing off other parks roller coasters, but I think it would show confidence in their own collection - if that even matters.
I hate to sound like a fan boy, but I’m ready for a new coaster. Wouldn’t mind if they replaced Wildcat, Disaster Transport, (although I still enjoy both - I feel they are expendable). If they are super creative they could replace Mine Ride or Corkscrew. However, the actual Mine Building and layout of the final helix, station area and up to the first hill should be mimics in a modern day coaster for Mine Ride, and the Corkscrew element should be replaced with the same and incorporated into a new design. These elements are as iconic to Cedar Point as the caste at Disneyland. Or maybe not . . . I’d cry.

Speaking of the three point challenges....Why doesn't Cedar Point havetheirs sponsored by somebody like Kings Island does? Kings Island's areall sponsored by Sprite. I know Cedar Point doesn't have coke products, but I can't see why you wouldn't want free money from this...

I love the museum idea. Or make it a "History of Cedar Point" thing that goes all the way back. And then they could just update it whenever something new happens. I think that would be an amazing attraction for anyone to enjoy, just so people could understand the true beauty of this place and how it got here.

Doesn't CP already have a museum? I haven't been in there for years, but isn't it right next to Skyhawk?
Yes the Town Hall Museum located in front of Skyhawk has lots of cool memorabilia from Cedar Point's history.

I knew there was already a museum, but I have never been in it. Speaking of something I have never been in...I have never been up to see the ballroom. From my understanding it is above the main arcade. I have spent a lot of time in the arcade looking for stairs to get up there, but could not find them. Any help?
Let's Get Weird.
I could be wrong, it happens enough. About 15-20 years ago, I went with my Grandpa, when he got free tickets from his work, I remember going up stairs on the side of the building, reminded me of a fire escape actually. I think this was the ball room, all I really remember is the "old folks" he worked with sitting in there and playing bingo.
The stairs are on the side of the arcade facing the games. There might be stairs on the other side but I think they were blocked off for Planet Snoopy.

If the ballroom is still being used they couldn't legally remove any of the exterior stairs as they are designated as fire escape routes.
There is still one set of stairs open for public use. I think the other set of stairs, the ones near Planet Snoopy, were blocked off to the public and only for employees.

Oh, so they were outside of the arcade. Now I understand why I didn't find them. :)
Don't they do Screamsters make-up in the ballroom?
Let's Get Weird.
The ballroom does become the makeup shop for Halloweekends. It's off limits to the public during that time.

Just wanted to bring back this to back. Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors about where the new roller coaster might go for 2013? I have heard B&M floorless or dive from different people. I'm just taking these rumors with a grain of salt because we still have a year until Cedar Point makes an announcement.
