Not if there are track switchers... in front of and behind the station.
They wouldn't be running at the same time... the 'backwards' side would run (with switchers in appropriate positions) the course, while the 'forward' side unload/loads... then vice-versa.

No. What Gravity is saying is thus: while train #1 (forward running) is loading, train #2 (backwards running) is negotiating the course. When train #2 returns to station, train #1 then launches. You could even get fancy and have four trains, two forward and two backwards. The two forward would run in succession, then the two backward.
Neat idea. Not gonna happen. :)
Beat me too it.

Well, I never made mention of the probability of it actually existing... I just thought that would be an awfully novel way of "going in a whole new direction" ;)

Umm no. Definitely not. Would not happen. If and even if it's specualtion. I think it's defintiely too early to tell what this thing is capable of. Yeah there are tons of supports built low to the ground, but supports can be built ontop of supports. What's to say that more supports won't be bolted onto the ones that atre already there. And , most supports haven't even arrived yet. Why are they building so early, obvioulsy , they have more construction to do after this, logically. No park has ever built a ride this sooon that hasn't been open all year. There is a lot more than meet the eye as they say. No One, even the higher ups on this site will know EXACTLY what it is until they make the announcement. Not to be mean, but i am tired of the speculation and rumors of outrageous things that people come up with on here. IT"S CEDAR POINT!!!!! they have not yet put in a coster that has been "mild" for a long time. (The kiddie coasters don't count). But at the same time, i don't think that this is going to be on the level of Millennium Force of TTD. I have said since the very beginning, it's going to be a run of the mill coaster and nothing that is gfoing to shock us!! ..... Wait and see after the announcement when everyone starts complaining because they are not putting in some great big giga, strata, terra, atmorspheric coaster. I don't mean to go on and on, but like Jeff said in a podcast, "I think that this one of the best decisions Cedar Point has Made Recently" Why would they put in another thing with less than 80% reliabilitly. I THINK that they are going to desing somethingto put in and let run and not have to worry about problems, unlinke those of TTD and (As of this season) MF. Do i have a point??
Tim
420TTD- You have a point, but completely missed mine.
I had a disclaimer for a reason. I put this 'fun idea' in the "Were going in a whole new direction idea" thread for a reason. It was merely a conversation starter. Go back, and re-read my disclaimer. Again, this was just an intriguing idea... something, at least I thought, would be a fresh thought amongst all of the "OMG!1! ITZ A GIGAHYPER600FOOTERWITHELEVENTYINVERSIONSTHATGOEZINTEHLAKE!!one!1!"
Apparently, my attempt at a light conversation was taken horribly wrong.

you guys DO realize that they don't even have a QUARTER or the supports up yet, right?? how can you assume that the ride is going to all be low to the ground?? that's just insane speak. :)
check out the pics from the staging area. i see a LOT of tall supports in there.

Forget I said anything. Some of you seriously have selective hearin--- er.. reading.

At first I didin't get Gravity's Idea until I figured that'd it have to have a dual loading station, you would also need to have the LIMs Launch and slow down trains... considering they'd be coming from diffrent directions all the time, I think it'd really funky.
Good idea... Really Good idea. Trying to make one... Now that'd be hard, I'm gunna try;)

On the hole..... with 764 posts, i am sure you know that this site, does not placate to those who do not understand that which is the Theme park/Engireering industry of Rolelrcoasters, with what we know (Which I'm sure is not much) and "Our" knowledge of coasters/amusement rides in general, poeple here do not play around, especially with the number one rated amusement park in the WORLD. Do your research on the park, CP has never done a "prototype" nor would i think that they would chance putting in a prototype. The minds behind Cedar Fair (in a business sense) Know what they are doing. They simply take an idea from what they have seen in parks in other areas, and modify it, making it unique. I do not mean to gooff on you or anyone else, but seriously, these rumors and accusations, and "Oh itlaked to this one worker S**T" ain't flying anymore. I am merley stating that about 75% of the people that use this board to spread rumors and assanine thoughts are going to be let down. This is not something that we need to talk to rumor about or make outrageous speculation about, watch as the construction unfolds, and keep out of the way comments to yourself, enjoy wondering what this is, because in a few weeks, it will all be told, and everyone will be complaing a storm because it wasn't what they said it was going to be. It happened with Millennium and it happend with Dragster. It will happen again. But they are the two rides that draw people to the park. This one, I'm sure will be a ride to draw people to thepark. Intamin makes great rides, regarldess of their reliability or height or speed. They make great rides. Am i Wrong? Yeah, if MF and TTD worked everyday of the season it would be hands-down that Intamin makes great rides, but---- Do you want to go to work everyday? Do you call off work oneday because you are not feeling well? Right, you do, and that's how some rides react, especially, when you are brand new technology and poeple have no idea how you will react in the field after 2 or 3 years of work. Wow, that was a tangent, Sorry guys! But i think that i am saying about what VERY coaster Enthusiast on this site is feeling right now about this "Project 2007"

420TTD has a fatal strain of that selective reading disease.

Flyer- CP doesnt have a flyer, maybe Intamin designed their own flyer- thats a whole new direction for CP

I am telling you, i am speaking for numerous Pointbuzz people...
I understand your idea... it is cool, but really, could it happen? Right now in 2006? I mean TTD has been around for 3 years right? How long have Hydraulics been around? Are we as a publice really ready to except your idea as something that could happen?I don't think so. (Not being mean or anything). But think about it, would you want 6 freshmen in college after a hard night on the beach partying pushing buttons to send two different trains in opposite directions on the same track? I agree with you that the technology is there, but the manpower to operate the technology is not. I'm sorry for going off, but since however long ago it was that WWL has been torn down, people have been saying some really crazy rumors, and my posts were NOT AT ALL directed towrds you, but to everyone. I am saying, BE REALISTIC here. online, people talk before they speak, but if they were face-to-face with someone they would think before they speak. I am just defending the hard core Pbuzzers on here (And you know who you are). The same thing goes with the piece of track with that wierd step lattice type thing hanging from it....... how many threads are people going to start about that? Yeah, i said soemthing about it, but i didn't go on and on about it.... i just said it was interesting.

I would love to see a flyer at cp..... The sensation you get from them is incredible.

420TTD, add a paragraph break here and there to make it easier to read those long posts.
(I know it may not be grammatically correct to, but it really hard reading those posts - and I really want to.) :-)
Gravity, whether real or fictional, plausible or not, I thought it was a unique idea for providing two different ride experiences at almost the cost of a single coaster. :-) *** Edited 7/22/2006 3:52:42 AM UTC by Headrush***
420TTD- This is going to be the last thing I say to you on this topic. Compare my Join date to yours, before you tell me about what people on here want to read about... and then look at how long I've worked for the company, before telling me to 'research the park'.
It was an (READ IT WITH ME HERE---) INTERESTING IDEA TO DISCUSS. I put a DISCLAIMER stating that it was NOTHING MORE than an IDEA to DISCUSS, and was DEFINETLEY NOT a suggestion of what was being put in. But it WAS an interesting new IDEA that was put in *gasp* a thread OF IDEAS for "Going in a whole new direction". Don't believe me? Read the thread title! It's right there on my screen as it is on yours.

420TTD, I understood both your and Gravity's posts.
Thanks for the breaks, simple double return will work, no need for <br>. My old eyes feel better already.
Sorry.... i never understood how to do that
I just think that a lotof people are sick of the specualtion going on and just like to see the new ride come together as a whole.
I am just saying that every year (for the most part) CP puts in something bigger and better and with the additon of TTD, with thetechnology we have right now as rollercoasters go, it's not going to be something that we haven't seen in a park (As i am sure 120TTD will agree). Yes it will be unique in aspects, but i don't think that it will soemthing that is brand new.
