The weird piece of track for Project 2007 isn't a switchback, its just weird. Its not even track, its just red.
No, it's track. Pointpixels has some great photos of it, and it is track. Though I dont have a clue what the weird looking extension on it is for.

yeah i see that now. flat track with some effed up piece on the bottom. flip the pic upside down. the one even shows it has a really stumpy support on one end of it. FREAKY i tell ya!!
You're telling me man. What really puzzles me is the support plate attatchment right in front/behind the crazy support...thingy. You would think that that...whatever it is...could support the track and train without another support (seemingly) a few inches away.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
It looks like it could be for fixing and holding the trains when not in use. Just my theory, because it looks like there is more flat track underneath it.

Does this indicate maybe that they will build a very low to the ground speed coaster and get some record for that? It would be in the opposite direction that they have been going. Also, 'Hang On' could mean it is a fast little bugger.
When I first saw them the thing that came to mind was brakes, pnuematic brakes. Stormrunner and some other launch coasters have pnuematic brakes on flat track that have an upside down T extension to hold the brake.
Here's and example of what I mean: http://www.rcdb.com/ig2498.htm?picture=10
But I dont think that's what the thing on the flat track is for as there are no guides for the fin holders. Like in this picture: http://www.rcdb.com/ig2999.htm?picture=5
Though the flat track we have does have 4 holes on each extension to hold.....something....so that's something to take notice of.
So my only guess for now is that it's something to do with the brakes or the station. *** Edited 7/20/2006 6:23:55 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

That would be my guess too.
I agree with CoasterDaddy (Welcome to Pointbuzz!) that there's a good chance it will be low to the ground. I see something low, fast, with lots of lateral gees but little airtime. Maybe with short little, zippy mini-trains that can negotiate tight curves. Maybe even with multiple launches so you maintain speed throughout the ride.
One thing I thought of. Those tan supports will blend into the background, sort of creating a 'floating track' effect. Should be one helluva ride. I don't even care if it isn't very tall.

I hope it has hills. If you want to ride fast and close to the ground with spins and stuff go to a school parking lot and do donuts with your car. Roller coasters are ment to go up not to stay level with the ground! *** Edited 7/20/2006 9:40:14 PM UTC by Your mom is to fat to ride TTD.***

I hope it's the longest as far as ride duration goes, with a chainlift angle of 80 degrees; it would be worth riding it just for the chainlift.

That's the most ridiculous thing I have heard in quite some time. Roller coasters are "ment" to provide a fun experience. If you don't like it, don't ride it, but quit whining.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Steel Raptor were did you hear that the chainlift angle would be 80 degrees, because no one even knows if P2007 will have a chain lift, some people think it will be launched.
R.I.P. Mr. Scott
He didn't hear it anywhere, he was just speculating.
To keep with the trend, I speculate that the coaster will go 12,000 mph. Sideways. Into space.

I wasnt whining and if I dont like it I wont ride it. I have 16 other choices to choose from instead of a 40ft tall coaster.

Let's Get Weird.
Here's an entertaining thought:
(DISCLAIMER: This is absolutely NO WAY saying "THIS is what it is!" It's merely an interesting thought to toss around the brain)
From what we've seen thus far, the track would appear to be all low, ground-hugging twists and turns. With no apparent huge hills to climb, and the clues dropped so far, I thought this might make for an amusing ride concept:
A dual-loading station, with one train facing forwards, and one facing backwards. While one train is loading, the other is travelling the track... but here's the catch. Instead of each train leaving the station from the same direction, they leave opposite. The "backwards" facing train doesn't actually travel backwards, but travels forwards, taking the course backwards. What is one train's finale, is the others' beginning. What is one train's launch run, is the others brake run...
Certainly would be something never seen before, and we would certainly be "going in a whole new direction". ;)
