What does that have to do with anything? It's not as if that group is necessarily representative of the majority of enthusiasts.
Tell me again how the opinions of a very small group of enthusiasts represent the entire general public's point of view? I have multiple friends who like the roar. I obviously understand why people who have sensitive ears want it gone, and I agree that although that number is small, it would greatly help them, but if the only reason is that you have to pause a few seconds while you're talking every time a train goes by, I can't say I agree.

It will do a lot, Gatekeeper is very pleasant to picnic by.
Pete, I have to ask you this question. Why Is Gatekeeper quieter then Mantis and Raptor? All 3 roller coasters are made by B&M.
Uh, sand in the support columns, which is what the last several pages have been about... The same thing with Maverick, Banshee, and pretty much any other modern coaster.
Yes, the B&M roar comes from vibration in the box beam of the track sections. The sand effectively dampens those vibrations out so you hear a nice, quiet roller coaster. Without the sand, the B&M box beam is almost like a giant speaker that only plays the roar.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Regardless of your opinions, it looks like the roar is staying. Sorry about your ordering method at Dragons Inn or your phone conversation. Would you have a phone conversation in a loud environment outside of cedar point? Because common sense would tell me to leave the area. It doesn't matter what your opinion is, the roar is staying and I don't feel bad for you.
As a visitor to the park you agree that your responsible for injury while at the park. There is a disclaimer on each and every ticket. CP is not respossible. Come at your own risk. Same as a rock concert. You know who cares about hearing loss. OSHA. At my workplace we take annual hearing tests. Any hearing loss of x amount is considered a OSHA recordable injury. They test the decibal levels in our plant and require you wear hearing protection in certain places in our plant. I had an ear wax buildup in one of my ears last time I took the test and had to go back to the hospital and retest after I cleared up the issue to keep the injury off the books. Now CP has alot of seasonal employees who are probably exempt from these rules considering they aren't there year to year to test. I can pretty much garentee you that the full time maintenence crews that are at any of CF parks are tested every year and I bet when you see them around rides that are running they have muffs or earplugs in. Or if they are running loud machinery.
Everyone should take their hearing seriously. You don't get it back. I wouldn't take earplugs to a rock concert but taking earplugs to CP wouldn't be a bad idea. But then who'd post to the crazy things you hear in line thread?
Holy crap, I can't believe we have three straight pages about freakin sound deadening.
Anyways, I feel like the name of this ride is connect to blood on the Bayou. A Rougarou is basically a twist on the werewolf story which was popularly told in Cajun culture AKA Louisiana and New Orleans. BTW, if you didn't know Louisiana was a french colony for those wondering why the name is french. Both are creepy and somewhat scary. They are right next to each other and naming the ride Rougarou is a great way to have a unique name while tying the theme in with existing attractions.
I just want to know if what is said about the renderings is also true with the renderings of the trains. I would much rather have B&M's new OSTRs as opposed to the old ones pictured in the rendering. Way better visibility associated with the modern restraints could really help out the ride if they choose to have lots of fog and lighting. Also, if anyone hasn't mentioned it yet, I love the new colors. Finally something other than blue or red.

Same here. The pictured restraints have head banging potential written all over 'em.
If you look at pictures of Dominator and Mantis you can see the restraints for Mantis are much larger, especially near the ears. The heads of guests are positioned tightly between the restraints. Not so on floorless design:
Mantis: https://www.cedarpoint.com/images/rides/mantis_close.jpg
Dominator: http://likethedew.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Dominator_Kings_Dominion.jpg
While not the Gatekeeper restraints we were hoping for, the floorless coaches have much smaller restraints, specifically around the head/ears.
I think it's a non issue. We won't know for sure until May, but I've experienced head banging on every standup- I have never experienced it on a floorless! which again leads me to believe it's the trains that are the problem and not the layout.
I had a serious and painful case of the red ear last time I rode Dominator.
Maybe I haven't figured out how to ride it.
Much better experience with Hydra.
Thought the trains would've been equipped with the new restraints as well, but I suspect the park only had so much in the budget for this project and couldn't pay the B&M engineers to redesign the trains.

If you don't change your attitude, you won't be posting here anymore. And I won't feel bad for you.

Can we take a moment to realize that all the B&M coasters at CP have a relating theme to them?
...all of them are dark creatures -__-
They could get rid of the noise. Maybe the new trains won't be as loud.

I think you're getting more worked up about this than you should. If the roar stays, no big deal. Those of us who don't like it will carry on life as usual. If it goes and is replaced by the (far superior) "growl", it seems you'll be the only one losing sleep over it.
I mean, it doesn't matter what you opinion is, the roar is loud and obnoxious and I won't feel bad for you if it goes. ;)

Rougarou needs a roar, as it feeds on screams. Or if they deaden the sound it could be "It's a silent prey"
