^ Yes!!!! Jason... Tony... You listening? I love the howl at the end of the teaser video. Hopefully that gets included. Would also be cool to have swampy creature-like frog/cricket noises coming from the woods. Mantis obliterated the lagoon feel of the area. The second half is built over plain dirt. Hopefully they add more foliage to this area to make it feel more "swampy".

I know this sounds crazy, but does anyone else keep watching the ride animation videos over and over again? It's almost like I've never been on the ride and I'm looking at the whole thing as an entirely new coaster. My wife is over my obsession.

You are clear and outta here

^10 times so far for me! I thought I was obsessed!

I don't know that it's practical to add sound dampening after the fact. The supports are engineered to support a certain load (a dynamic one at that), and adding sand to the spine would add significant weight.

Interestingly enough, the sand for Intamin rides is in the supports and added on-site, whereas for the B&M's it's in the track spine and put there at the factory. Not sure if they add it to the supports... I didn't think to ask on my visit to the fabricator.

Ah, B&M's sand is actually in the track? Did not know that. Thanks!

I thought the sand in Gatekeeper's track came from the nearby beach. :)

I think that it will run much quieter and do not remember Dominator at GL ever being that loud. This is going to be a huge overhaul and not just slapping some paint and different trains on. There must have been some crazy calculations done to make sure the new trains would be able to complete the course. I am hoping for some Banshee type theming and an awesome station with some sort of gothic look and feel.

This is amusing... So after 10 years of rumors and wishful thinking, Mantis is becoming a floorless.

BUT ITS TEH WRONG RESTRAINTZZZ!!!!111

TAER it down.

^ It makes you think that if the idea really came from us here.

I'm not sure if anyone has asked this question or even knows the answer, but do we know how much the new floorless trains will cost as well as the new station? I'm sure they have to add the hydrolic "fold away" floor as well or build a new loading station...

Jeff mentioned that, during his interview with the CEO, Ouimet mentioned that trains cost about $1 million each.

Brandon

Thanks DJ! $1 mil each huh? Dang, I didn't know trains cost that much... Any idea how much it will cost to modify the loading station, paint job, and other modifications?

I wonder if the old stand-up trains have any trade-in value.

Considering that the lead car of one is buried in the old rides graveyard, probably not so much.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

It's an improvement for the new color scheme alone. Mantis was the most butt-ugly attraction at the point... a giant skid mark on the face of the skyline.

You could check the blue book, but wouldn't be much. The trains depreciate as soon as they leave the station and sent up the lift hill for the first time.

Not to mention the resale value would be lower because nobody rides Station Wag- Standup Trains anymore.

They could sell the trains for spare parts to six flags. They still run 3 B&M stand ups.

Or, Cedar Fair could keep them for parts for their own B&M stand-ups.. See Vortex at Carowinds or California's Great America.

^agreed, probably the most likely option. I'm sure at least part of one of the trains will be used in a halloweekends event.

^ That is a safe assumption, being as part of one of the trains is already in the old ride graveyard...
