Usually. :)
So will anyone else be at the park on October 19th? I've changed my mind, and decided to give Mantis one last ride that night. I won't be able to do the "last ride", as I'll be at the park with my students and I need to get our bus on the road by 8 pm, but I plan on dragging as many of them as I can with me for one last stand around 7:00.

I plan to be there both Saturday and Sunday, so you'll get to meet me If you want. I also wanted to ask on here, does anyone have anymore pictures of them painting Mantis/Rougarou?
I plan on being there that Sunday as well.

I want to hear the story behind the name. While a cool name, I've never heard of it before this. Wonder how the marketing team came up with the name.

I'll be there on the 19th as well, I am actually looking forward to riding Mantis. That is something I haven't been able to say in the last 15 years or so...
I thought they would've waited until Mantis closed before doing the repaint. That's putting wear and tear on the new paint with the ride still running. It'll take some of the freshness away.

It must be cheaper to do the painting before the snow falls.
By the time next opening day rolls around, though, I agree that the paint won't look totally fresh for a "new" ride opening.
Thrills Around the Corner!
At the rate their painting it, it will be done before Mantis closes. I think they could've used that 2 weeks to paint it.

The paint will be fine, just like it is on a brand new coaster sitting outside for months before being transported and installed. That being said, I am very surprised they started painting it already, obviously they started now for a reason, I just have no idea what that reason may be. I would have thought they'd paint it in the spring.
Do other coasters get painted during the Halloweekend season?

I know what it is now, I meant the marketing team. Did one of them have a fascination towards werewolves? Or did they just google "monsters who live In swampy lagoons"? Rougarou doesn't exactly slip off the tongue, and the average person wouldn't know what one is. Rides like Raptor, Maverick, Dragster can be easily implied.... This one, however, is certainly interesting. I like the name, just interested in how the park landed on this particular name.
That's definitely a question that'd be great to save for the Q&A session on our next off season tour.

Pretty simple. Dry weather -low precipitation and humidity.
Which is why everything at CP has only been painted in September of course...
With the Bayou haunt right across the way, I would think that someone spent time researching Bayou-themed spooky stuff and stumbled upon this name. Or perhaps someone working at Cedar Point is from the region where this is a better known entity.
It's not uncommon if you're from the region apparently. One of my students is from New Orleans, and knew exactly what it was, but was shocked to see the name pop up in Ohio.
It was certainly an addition to my vocabulary.

I figured they watch Swamp People. Someone on the show a few seasons back named a gator they were after Rougarou.

Magnum and MF looked good after their multi off-season paint projects were 100% complete. The track rails are going to get worn anyway with the new trains running on them. At the rate the crew is going, most if not the whole coaster will be entirely painted before serious winter weather hits.
Looking at various earth images and google street views of the approach to the ride , I see a few things that would alter the area in a nice way IMO.
For starters , the current ride photo building and two large pine trees completely obscure the ride and station area from view as you approach.
If the station is in for a complete overhaul, it strikes me that a nice view of it from the waterside approach would be a nice thing in terms of making just looking at the ride part of the fun.
Relocating the photo building further back against the loop, would free up that entire plot of land against the bank for a nice view of the station. The view of the track behind the building would be more visible on the approach as a result of moving it back.
I think part of what will make this transformation will be the improvements in the ambiance of the ride for both riders and non riders.
