The plywood was probably for the huge fence they put up today.

I know everyone will ask so heres a pic.

Glad I took pictures on Opening day! haha...I figured something like this was going to be put up

That's a nice fence...what a waste to cover something up with such a nice fence like that..

Thy Kingdom Come. Thy will be done

Yes, but we still have Mean Streak to look backwards on. I remember looking backwards on Magnum when they had the three footers for Top Thrill Dragster.

Why was the fence not installed prior to when the park opened last weekend? Why do this now? Clearly this is not a safety issue, but a planned move by the park to somewhat "hide" what they are doing. Still, it does not make any sense to why they wouldn't have had the fence up before Saturday's opening.

The only thing that would somewhat make sense is to try and keep the geese out of the work area. I saw quite a few wandering around last weekend. And from what I've seen, the geese around the park are quite lazy...haven't seen too many fly around. This probably doesn't make any sense, but ah well, its late.

Leave the site plainly visible for press day, opening day... Then hide the site when more things really start to happen.

Brilliant. For them, not us.

I guess you'll just have to take a ride on the good old CP&LE.

Provided there's no fence on that side.

No fence on track side, but if they did decide to put one up, it would have to be 12 foot high because you could just barely see over a 10 footer from the passenger cars. ;)

Not to mention that there are a few footers only 4 or so feet from the tracks, that would be a cramming area to work if a fence was put along there... :)

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

Excellent. That train is going to see quite a lot of me and my camera this summer.

It's a shame that on ride photography is not allowed on any of Cedar Points rides.

Yeah. I'll never understand some of those restrictions. I mean, I can understand on coasters and such, but on things like the Sky Ride and CPLERR?

On-ride photography is allowed on three rides: Space Spiral, Paddlewheel Excursions, and CP&LE.

I have a feeling MEAN STREAK will see a significant increase in traffic just to see whats going on behind it... hehe :) I love the mean streak anyways, a good ol woodie is always good in my book *ahem*.

That was my suspicion, Walt. Thanks!

My thought is that the fence is just there to tidy up there area, not to hide anything. There's still plenty to see, but this way Frontiertown doesn't look as much like a war zone.

Yeah, that would make more sense, considering the visual accessibility via the RR & road.

Brandon

the fence was most likely planned from day one. most of you guys probably have no idea what a pain it is to manage a construction site like that. there's LOTS of things to coordinate. they got to the fence as soon as they could. maybe the material never showed up or something?

but, i'm guessing the fence is to make the area aesthetically pleasing. remember that the general public does NOT like to see piles of dirt and construction vehicles driving around. that's my guess as to why the swan pond footings were done first and then the pond refilled. to the average guest, that looks "done". its not a construction site anymore.

the majority of guests at CP i would say are not super fans like us. they like things neet and tidy.

Walt, I was under the impression that Space Spiral was the only ride it was allowed. Did this policy change? I tried to find this information on CP's site without success.
