...something with a "cyclone"-like portion. sorta like the end of the mine ride, but on steroids!! :)
...or the beginning of Italian Job:Stunt Track? That's where my brain is currently running with this. I do not claim to have any insider info whatsoever... but hear me out...
WWL, a good 'family' ride is removed... now, everyone is on the "they removed a water so they've got to add a water"-train... but what about the family portion? Wouldn't a slightly beefed-up version of IJ:ST fit the bill quite nicely?
Aahhhh.. well, that brings us to the Intamin track that's in front of Breakers. IJ:ST is all two-railed track. Well, if it was beefed up in size/speed, wouldn't a stronger track type be required? And don't you think that track could resemble Intamin track, especially just driving by on the street, or looking at a tarp stretched across it in the wind?
Again, that's just where my brain is running with this at the moment. Feel free to shoot it down as you will and tell me we're getting a "600FT DUEELGNING FLYER/FLOORLESS!!1!!one!!1"

There's actually a long story behind the "no photography on any ride" rule involving a person falling out of a Paddlewheel boat, but the new policy did actually change mid-way through last season. This is just the first season where it's actually in print.
As for the wall, I can understand why they did it, but I'm somewhat disappointed. I wanted to be able to watch the construction. Are there any walls over by the Frontier Inn or behind U.R. Dade?

DBCP: I honestly don't remember seeing walls back there, they only seemed to run from Frontier Train to WWL's queue.. but, I really wasn't paying attention back behind UR Dade.
EDIT: There's no walls blocking the view from the train.. I guess I didn't make that quite clear... the wall is just up against the midway. You can still see everything from the train.

They should've (or should) put in the little "windows", so the fans can peek in and see what's up, but the general public can see the pretty wall. :)
A fun marketing idea would be to put holes in the wall for people to peer through with signs above them saying "don't you dare take a look, partner" or "something so big is going on back here, that we can only show you a little"... But knowing CP they would make plexiglass to look through, in case an unknowing construction worker puts a finger through one of the holes... stupid lawsuits...

The wall doesn't seem nearly as tall as I remember the Dragster wall being... one could easily peek over it on their tip-toes on the curb at the edge of the midway.
I guess I kinda saw the wall coming, as it didn't hit me as a real surprise. It was more of a "Oh, they put up a wall... meh." The new signs, however, is what really got me intrigued.

I spent the morning and early afternoon in the park today as well. It was picture perfect while I was there, no longer than 15 minute waits for everything so I got some power-riding in this morning.
Gravity has the new signs pretty much right from what I remember. There are two awesome places to watch construction that I don't see too many people mentioning: 1- the path around the back of the "Undertaker U" building and 2 - the outdoor picnic area to the right of Frontier Inn when facing the construction area. You really can get and up close view of what's going on and the site was bustling with activity the entire time I was there. I was kickin' myself for leaving my DigiCam at home while I was checking out the progress.
While I was there they were setting up the "molds" for a couple of large cylindrical footers and were doing both finishing work and beginning rebar work on the line of absolutely giant footers behind Frontier Inn. These things are massive and at this juncture I would guess to be lifthill footers.
The area of water directly in WWL's old path out of the station is now almost completely drained. There were a couple pieces of construction equipment out there today cleaning out an absurd amount of muck and wisking it away in dump trucks.
The last thing that caught my eye taking a glimpse over the newly erected wall was that there are 5 or 6 markings on the concrete between the old and new fence that have some numbers (something about 5 degrees and "new dig") that I would guess are for footers as well. A pretty sizeable chunk of the path back there by the train station looks like it's gonna get dug up.
I'll remember my camera next time...:)
all this excitment makes me anxious. :)
-A Coaster Boy from Toledo that Loves rollercoasters and everything to do with them.
I keep imagining "Storm Runner" at Hershey. Preferably minus the launch and add a lift hill. A new looper would be great.
What I see going in is this. An Aquatrax for one. Also a Rollercoaster like Storm Runner minus the launch as Scott said above. Along with these two major additions, other flats will go in along with new restaurants etc.. The only thing that doesnt fit with my theory, is that this project is being said to change the industry. I really am Stumped.
"Thats when friends were nice, to think of them just makes you feel nice"
i dont care what will go in because i know it will be great. with that said i would like to see a sweet new woody... now i know alot of people like steel, but i think cp could use a wooden coaster to add to the 16. just my opinion.
i like the sound of "change the industry" *** Edited 5/10/2006 11:23:44 PM UTC by milleniumforcerocks***
Some day....some day. I would absolutley love something like lightning racers. Hell...just bring all of hershey's coasters to the point....and the chocolate too.
mmmmm..chocolate

well they're not putting a woodie on the footings that are already poured. :)
fat man tarkey, there's NO WAY all that could fit in that space. i guess if they take over a lot of the midway some could fit. but, i don't see it.
BTW, everyone needs to keep in mind that ALL footings are big underground. so, when you see them forming up "monstrous" footings, they really all look like that under the dirt. the round part you see above ground is just to mount the support to. the part below ground is what actually distributes the force into the earth. from the pic on 5/9/06, there appears to be 5-6 vertical supports going on top of that. not ONE massive footing. *** Edited 5/10/2006 11:40:24 PM UTC by halltd***
I don't recall reading this, but there are new signs along the construction site on the side the train rolls past on. One said something to the effect of "Get ready for some serious sidewinding", but I can't for the life of me recall the other ones now.

Another reason for people to ride the train, so you all can read the signs! :);)

For a project 2007 update as of 2:45 on Wednesday, May 10th.
A few pointbuzzers (Browns and the force and PrettyPointGirl) and I took a trip to Cedar Point today on a very quiet Wednesday. As we took are usual lunch break outside the park at East of Chicago we decided to check out the the Project 2007 track site before our meal. As we pulled up to Hotel Breakers Express, we notice two red curved pieces of Intamin track. We all pulled out our camera phones and tried to take some pictures, but my i860 really does not take the best of pictures so the qualty is poor. As we were taking the pictures from the hotel parking lot (as we were trying not to tresspass) they were tarping the track so we really did not get great pictures. But as repect of the rules from Walt and the staff here at Pointbuzz I will not post the pictures. So now there is two blue tarps at the track site. It looks like we expect some more track soon, so keep your eyes open as you drive past Hotel Breakers Express.
