New for 2015

^Well, yeah. For all we know we could be getting nothing but the green train from Millennium Force raised out from the lake.

I like Mean Streak, they can change it, or rename it but as long as they don't tear it down, i'll be fine.

I don't really think Mantis needs new paint before Raptor and TTD. Especially TTD, which was supposed to be painted this past off-season. Wonder why it never happened?

I heard TTD never got painted because they couldn't get the equipment needed or because of the bad winter.

So Medusa and Rattler took essentially the same amount of time, which was half of what Texas Giant needed.

Yes, partly because those two coasters are physically much shorter and smaller than NTG (and MS).

Also, averaging all of them together isn't how you go about estimating the amount of time necessary to pull off one of these makeovers.

I didn't average the time. I took their most recent project duration, since that's presumably their most efficient project so far.

The point is that, based on these past projects, there's simply no way MS could get the RMC treatment in time for 2015.

Mean Streak 5,427' of track
Rattler 5,080' of track

First of all I don't think a conversion will happen, but I just have to point out how bad your argument is. Less than 400' of track is not much shorter. Also Rattler was on a quarry wall and went through a quarry wall. The challenges that are added by the quarry will most likely add about the same amount of time as is saved by the need for less support structure. Just admit you made up a number to support your argument with no knowledge of how long it would take.

Rattler wasn't. Someone else already got to that though. Rattler was also taller. Just an FYI.

This assumes a tremendous amount about the RMC treatment on Texas Giant that I'm not about to follow and/or don't believe.

^^Its not the talking about what could happen, it's about all the crazy speculation that has evolved from absolutely nothing into "Tony's tweets are all clues", taking everything anyone says as gospel. Some of us come here for real talk, and real information. And it really sucks wading through pages of ridiculous theories grasped from thin air. Sorry for the rant, but I'm pretty sure I'm not alone here.

sorry...the original post this was directed at is gone.

There have been very few actual clues.

1. A thrill ride aimed at teens/thrill seekers

2. Lots of markings around Point Pavilion

3. Weird mis-spellings by Tony ( I guess that's a clue? )

4. A possible name (Rougarou...hinted with Camp Rou)

That's it.

The only things that are really clues that I can think of are Camp Rou + Rougarou trademark, the picture allegedly hinting to something coming near Raptor and C&P's, and the markings in and around Point Pavilion. Everything else is just Tony messing with those who, as has been mentioned, are quite quick to eat up any red herrings thrown their way.

The most we can draw from the paint on Mantis is that they are considering repainting it. It could just be that some nasty rust developed and that's how they could patch it quickly, without looking too tacky, though.

Real talk? About an Amusement Park you don't own? What about Pointbuzz is real? C'mon if anybody on here gets offended by something a user said, then I'm gonna say something very real since that's what this place is for.... Get a life, grow up and realize that you have the right to move your eyes down to the next comment! Somebody comes on here, speculates on a subject and because it's not what some of the real cool Pointbuzz veterans wanna hear, they lash out at the person!

You act like users are saying that CP's new ride is gonna be spaceship that will launch and take you into outer space! Seriously lol all you hardcore Pointbuzzers that wanna talk real.... you don't know more than anyone else on here, this is all speculation for fun! You don't like this being a public site where anybody can voice their opinions, well leave then! Leave Pointbuzz and create your own forum, only allowing members! For real and if anybody has a problem with me, please request my personal info and we'll discuss our differences in person!

We can all meet at CP and you guys can wear your Dude Wow Man shirts!! Lol and I'll wear my I'M WITH ALL THESE TOOLS shirt! Don't worry you hardcore Pointbuzzers... I'm never gonna comment in here ever again lol! You guys all a bunch of dorks and really need to get out! Heck I'm sure you have a platinum pass, go to the park!

Look Mr. Encyclopedia..... Paragraphs! Sorry I didn't meet the qualifications to post on Pointbuzz! lol out

Did I miss something? Who is getting offended (other than perhaps you)?

Then you should avoid a topic related to speculation about 2015. This is all in good fun- no one is taking this too seriously except for the people who get all negative and cranky about a bunch of enthusiast guesses. There's plenty of other topics you can read if this one is upsetting you.

I enjoy these threads every year, and I'm sure the site staff does, too. Who cares if people think a 500' looping woodie is coming---- most of this is tongue in cheek.

^ The problem isn't speculating. The problem is that people are looking at everything as if it was a clue, and assuming that it means something. They're assuming that we know something is going to happen based on this information, even though nothing has been confirmed. Speculation is fine, but don't assume that you know what's going to happen. Pretty sure that's what he was trying to say.

Thats what we do though, we look for clues. You never know which clues are real or not. For being a public forum though, people are pretty harsh on opinions that don't mesh with their own..

I'll say it one more time. There is a fine line between trying to determine what are clues and what is just marketing speak, versus seeing something and assuming that it means what you think it does. Paint on Mantis does not mean it is definitely going to have anything significant happen to it. We can speculate on why the paint is there, but we do not know. So, don't say that "we know" something will happen.

For instance:

Just knowing that MS and Mantis will have some change for 2015 makes this exciting!

Again, we do not *know* that anything will happen with either of these two rides. There is reason to speculate and that is all.

Ok, I joined this forum to see what everyones ideas were as to what "could" happen. If BrandonW thinks something is definitely going to happen to Mean Streak or Mantis, that is his entitled opinion. I happen to think something is going to happen with Mantis as well. Screamscape his stated that their sources have been told that more than likely the paint and the floorless will occur with Mantis next year. Like it or not, Screamscape is a pretty reliable source for these predictions as their information is usually given by reliable sources. I follow these speculations every year and Screamscape has been one of the most accurate sites. They posted this on 8/8/14. I for one like reading what everyone thinks will happen. If you want to only read what is actually going to happen... wait for the official announcement. As for me, on with the speculation.

Screamscape is very hit and miss, I take anything they post with a massive grain of salt. That being said they have hit some predictions right on, and others haven't even been close.

At this point I agree with Kevin that there has only been a limited number of actual facts that we can go off of.

Speculation is fine here, but to say that MS is definitely going to change for next season because the web cam was pointed at it is taking speculation to the Nth degree...

I agree about Mean Streak. Time frame for next year simply does not support it. But I do believe something will change with it over the next few years. It would be nice just to see some sort of re-tracking with it. Even more comfortable trains would help. I'm all about the nostalgia of a wooden coaster, but if upgrades can increase enjoyment, I'm all for that as well. The best wooden coaster I have ever ridden is Thunderhead at Dollywood. Great track layout, wonderful speed and sharp banked turns, just a blast from start to finish. One thing that makes it so enjoyable is the comfort of the trains. Seats padded to the 9s for a wooden coaster and not too cramped in the seat. If that type of train were placed on Mean Streak I think there would be more excitement from riders about the ride. I was a Cedar Point a couple of weekends ago riding Mean Streak. I was fine on it but my friend wasn't. Got a horrible headache. The ride operator asked how everyone enjoyed their ride on Mean Streak. Her question was met with the most underwhelming response I have ever heard on a coaster...might as well have been all boos. Such a shame for a coaster with so much potential. It seems to lose so much momentum half way through the ride. To each his own I guess.

Call me weird, but I feel like Mean Streak isn't that bad on a roughness scale. I have ridden rougher! That's surprising that you didn't hear cheers? On Opening day when I rode it, everyone was happy with it! I have been meaning to ride it since, but keep getting distracted somehow.
