Tony just tweeted about a new pointcast at the frontier trail. Now has anything happened or anything at all over there? Or could it possibly be the new attraction location? All i know is that he said you wont want to miss it so I'll be sure to check that out!

Tony was working on a PointCast at the Barnyard area a couple weeks ago and it hasn't been posted yet, that I saw.
And he's right, 2015 starts on January 1st.

As I understand it, rides are designed around the "heartline" of a person. So, on the same track, forces exerted on the body with a stand-up train would be different than those exerted on the body with a sit-down.

I feel like this is an invalid argument. When riders are standing up, their heartline varies. So let's say you have someone who's the minimum height requirement of 54" and someone like me, 73" tall. Obviously our heartlines are different. So would the heartline of a person in a floorless train be that much different from a 54" person standing?

A 19" height different will not result in heartlines that are 19" apart.

I would think the heartline difference between standing and sitting would be greater than the difference between the minimum and maximum height limits when standing.

Just playing devil's advocate since I don't think they'll invest money into Mantis that way: It isn't a difference of "sitting down" and "standing up" as if we were comparing an office chair vs. a standing adult on level ground. A floorless coaster's cars are set fairly high off the wheels, and the floor onto which one boards the train drops out and away. The standup surface seems to be just very slightly above/equal to the where the top of the wheels are. There may not even be a significant difference at all, much less a foot and a half. Its even possible that for riders at the 54" mark, the heartline could be higher on the floorless trains depending on how far forward into the restraint they sit.

Yep, and because it is so easy, cheap, the ride is so much fun, and theme parks make huge money off of it - every theme park that has a stand up coaster has converted it to a floorless...

^Which coasters have been transformed? I haven't been able to find any. Just some sit down coasters turned into stand up and quickly converted back to sit down.

True enough! I've read some that I thought had to be sarcasm, but some follow up posts prove otherwise!

How about coaster train roulette? Two train operation, one standing and one not. Which will you be on? The closer you get to the station the more the suspense toys with your mind...or not.

I think I remember somebody saying that Cedar Point is getting updated piece by piece. I'm pretty sure it was the GM or someone official. 2013 was the front: new entrance, GK. Fresh up the park. Attract thrillseekers. 2014 was the Gemini Midway. It needed a little revamping. The black tar was ugly, and the new rides were a plus for families and children. Maybe 2015 is Frontier Trail or PP/Blue Streak/Raptor area. Frontier Trail has similar ugly black cement the Gemini Midway had. Plus, there are just a bunch of shops in that area, no rides. Went there a few days ago, I remember there being some cinder blocks arranged to a rectangle, perfect size for a new sign. Is it a haunt? Rougarou? 2015 ride?

Would Rougarou fit the theme there too? I know there's the water nearby.... and the western-theme buildings...

Cedar Point.

Definitely not better than Millennium.

@TonyClarkCP: There be a tweetup coming this afterrrnoon. Not sherrr why I'm typing like a pirrate.

Tonys latest tweet

^^ Those cinderblocks were likely outside of the blacksmith shop. For Stars & Stripes Celebration on the 4th of July weekend, that was a homemade BBQ pit.

I'm thinking something will go into the space where the old Pirate Ride building is at now.

That's what the Frontier Trail is supposed to be, it was created as a themed area with period shops and crafts. I highly doubt you will see rides replacing the log cabins.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

^ Just to add to that... If they were going to get rid of them, why would they have opened all of them up again? I don't think anything is happening to the shops in frontier trail.
