But i feel that if Cedar Point does get a dark ride then it most definitely won't be lame. Their are great dark rides out there.
Maybe the Guardian was a sloppy copy for Cedar Point's potential dark ride. Hopefully it's taller than 60 feet if this is the case. If not Rougarou, what would the theme be?

Unfortunately, Llama's can't speak. But they are able to write in the dirt with their hooves. When I asked, they wrote that 2015 will be their favourite ride.
I don't know why, but I believe you.
Having just got back from my first visit to Canada's Wonderland, I have to say that if the New attraction for 2015 is a Guardian-Esque ride I would not be disappointed. Sure it's not the Coaster we all dream about but it is a fun ride. It's no universal quality thing that's for sure, but for Cedar Fair I was very impressed. It's a good little ride with a few surprises.
But what I do understand is that it only cost CW 10 million dollars (Only, LOL) but in park terms that is almost nothing, most coasters now-a-days are something like 25, so I can see the rest of the budget going to Re-themeing Mantis to Rougarou. Weather it will be Floorless or not is still a mystery. I honestly do think it's possible, despite people thinking it's impossible, B&M designed Thunderbird at Holiday World., a launched Wind Coaster.
And Yes, I said B&M and Launch in the same sentence. Anything is possible now.
Also I was walking through the park today and heard weird noises coming from the Iron Dragon Jungle, kind of sounded like howling mixed with the dino sounds...
^those sounds could've easily been testing for Blood on the Bayou

Impossible? Maybe, maybe not. Probable? Probably not.
Turning Mantis from a standing coaster into any sort of seated coaster would involve substantial costs: new trains; trackwork to accommodate how forces act upon seated riders vs standing riders, etc; re-worked station. And so on.
If a park is spending millions on making such changes, why not spend a few millions more on a new (and inherently more promotable) coaster?

Here's where we are oceans apart. If this ride represents your Cedar Fair standard, then Cedar Fair needs a new standard when it comes to quality dark rides. It's not good.
Promoter of fog.
Hopefully Cedar Fair will use the Calico Mine Ride and Timber Mountain Log Ride at Knott's as their new standard for dark rides. Admittedly these were both refreshed classics, but any new dark ride should strive to reach the same level of quality with an appropriate budget to help make it happen.
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
^^ exactly. The quality is just not there. I get that regional parks can't spend huge amounts of money on attractions, but why not budget $20 million for an attraction that can ultimately be marketed to any demographic.
Also when comparing Guardian with rides like Sally has put out (Even rides like Gobbler Getaway) the budget should have nothing to do with it. There are many solid dark rides at regional parks. I do not throw away the entire concept of Guardian, but it seems like what is currently there needs "cleaned up" by a dark ride company like Sally or Garner Holt. Adding in show scenes, animatronics, etc. would help solidify this attraction that seemed highly unfinished when I rode it. Those that like it probably have not been to Orlando--- not that the park will ever accomplish anything like Transformers, Pirates, etc. But what I saw from Guardian is in my opinion a very poor excuse at an immersive, interactive attraction that I would consider "timeless".
If Cedar Point does go down the dark ride route, I would levee to see them get a ride just like Dinosaur at Disney's Animal Kingdom. I consider that ride thrilling as well as directed more at teens. At this point, I don't really see Cedar Point getting a dark ride, but if they do how bad could it possibly be?
Why are so many people obsessed with dark rides? Cedar Point has a unique and beautiful location. You really want another monstrosity like Disaster Transport blocking the view?
Besides, all rides become dark rides after sunset.
It will never happen.
It will happen and it will happen in the next 5 years, we can pretty much all guarantee that. Also, a dark ride isn't necessarily a "monstrosity like Disaster Transport" building. A building like the Pirate Ride would be just fine and that looks no different than a regular small building.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

Well, I should qualify that to say that "some" of Point Pavilion is going away. It's a pretty big shelter area, so I'm betting that much of it near the front gate is staying.
Also, if you want to get nitpicky...

Mantis is not listed among the rides open on Friday nights.

I'm surprised Mean Streak is going to be open on Friday nights.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't remember Mantis ever being open on Fridays, but I never ride it anyway so I never paid much attention. I don't think MS was ever open on Friday.
