I was very saddened to hear the news of MrScott's passing. I was very surprised because I wasn't even aware of his illness. I have been a member of this site for quite a few years and though I don't post very often, I always enjoyed the insight that MrScott always provided. He is the main reason why I plan to stay at Lighthouse Point this summer. You will be truely missed by all MrScott and may you rest in peace. You can now visit Cedar Point as often as you want and I'm sure you will be there with us all in spirit watching over the park and Lighthouse Point.

Rest in Peace MrScott
I just wanted to keep everyone up to date and let you know that I sent Troy an e-mail and let him know that it was fine if he hadn't got a pass yet to go ahead and redeem Scott's to take him on his last trip to CP. He said that he hasn't got his pass this year yet and it would be a big help if we wanted him to use it.
He sends his heartfelt thanks and feels that the outpouring of kindness from this site is unbelievable.

Ride on, MrScott!
I really love the empty seat idea. My donation is in.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
This place and the people here are unbelievable. I cannot tell you what the kindness has meant to our family.
I have been very busy dealing with unpleasant things and finally had the time tonight to catch up here. I can't think of a more appropriate way to remember my brother than bidding on a Maverick first ride!
I have pledged $500 and MrScott's sister has made her pledge as well. Let's get Scott in the first seat. Whether I ride with him, as some have suggested, is irrelevant. I will gladly stand aside and send him in the front car.
There couldn't be a more fitting memorial to who he was.
Thank you all. Walt, post the numbers!

Total received: $1,127.00
(Donation link has been removed. Thank you to all who contributed!)

Holy Bejeezus Troy, I don't think we should have any trouble getting him a front seat ride!
I thought the people that stepped up and donated for the pass was pretty impressive, this is utterly amazing!
Troy, are you going to be able to make it opening day?
If you can't due to money reasons then I think I speak for everyone here, keep the $500 for yourself and make the trip for OD, we'll worry about the front seat ride.

Walt, may I suggest that you bid for that seat now and then add to it as you get more. Because anything can happen and we might miss the chance of getting MrScott that seat if we wait until the last minute.

Why would you bid for it now? Wait until we have a final tally of money.
The amount of money that has been donated is staggering.
Wow, this is remarkable. It makes me feel really good to know I helped to make such a great thing possible. I'm sure everyone else who donated feels the same way.
Enjoy your first ride MrScott.
Is the forecast calling for rain? Water has to be involved somehow. :)

Loopy, I will be there, but I will not ride. If we can win The Mayor a seat, I will be more than happy that his memory was honored. To have me on the train is to deprive a legitimate winning bidder a seat. Scott would not approve of that. I want everyone that has made or is considering making a pledge to know that I will not benefit from it. This is being done in memory of my brother, not me.
My family will be there June 10-12, we can ride it then.

OK, I just wanted to make certain that you'll be there. I wouldn't want you to miss this for the world.

Troy, we'll obviously honor your and Mr. Scott's wishes. It does seem to me, though, that very few people if any bidding on this ride have remotely the story of your brother, to which you are now trying to add an epilogue. It is in recognition of how much we respected your brother that I suggested both of you could ride. And I doubt anybody here would consider your riding to be 'benefitting'; if it were me in your shoes, I would most certainly cry my eyes out the entire ride.
As I said, your wishes are to be completely respected.

Ensign Smith,
I understand where you are coming from. But it would not be right for someone that bidded in the top X spots (I don't know how many seats a maverick train has!) to wait for the second train because I sat next to a seat this site has made possible.
I don't think that's fair to other bidders and I know that Scott would disapprove. I want the wonderful people on this site to make any pledge they can in Scott's memory. I will be there. That's enough for me.
Troy
Just wanted to say how I love the whole Maverick seat idea you guys have worked on. It makes me feel better to be able to do something in a realm where we have no control.

Peace Love Hope
I never really knew Scott, but felt like giving...having worked at CP last year and 2005, and having a few conversations with Scott, he was open and very easy to talk with.
$10 isn't much, but if everyone could give, it'd add up. *** Edited 4/27/2007 3:47:48 PM UTC by cedarpointr0x***
