Cedar Point and the Red Cross would frown on leaving and empty seat for the inaugural ride.
Do we know this as a fact? Was this discussed with anyone?
If so, who said they would frown on it?

Ride on, MrScott!
It is rather serendipitous that Mr Scott's proclomation again and again was that "water will be involved"...and the surprise that was unveiled a day before his first ride was....water.
Anyone else got goosebumps? :)
Ride on Mr. Scott!

Loopy,
Judging from the certainess of Troy's post, I'm sure he asked and was told that it would be best if the seat didn't go empty. Troy please correct me if I'm wrong.

And that's perfectly fine, I'm just curious as to who was so insensitive to the situation and told him that or if that's just something he and Walt decided.

Loopy, nobody at Cedar Point was "insensitive"! To the contrary, I felt Cedar Point reached out to me while I was there. I met Dick Kinzel, John Hildebrandt, and Mike McCall from Firelands Red Cross. They were all aware of the situation and very sympathetic to why I was there. It was a conversation between Walt and I that decided an empty seat wouldn't work.
1.) New coaster, first riders.
2.) Each paying big bucks to ride.
3.) All eyes see and empty seat go out.
4.) The phones would've lit up like the 4th of July.
Side note: I was honored by riding next to "Princess" Olivia. She was the number one bidder and one heck of a coaster fan! She barely met the height requirement! LOL!!!
I know Scott is smiling down on the whole event. Rain be damned, it was a great opening!
My family thanks each and every member of this board for being who you are... incredible people.
Troy
You're so welcome Troy. That's the absolute least we could do. I'm sure never to forget this event and never to forget Mr. Scott, although I never met him in person. Glad you had a great event!

Glad it went well. I wish I could have been at the park today, but the late notice i could not get it off work...
RIP MR.SCOTT The ONLY MAYOR OF LIGHTHOUSE
I did think it was a little strange how heavily water was involved with the rain and all yesterday morning during the Red Cross rides. I couldn't help but think of Mr. Scott :)
Those pics of you & Mr. Scott are so cool! Blessings to you Troy. See ya around the park :)

The picture of Scott on Troy's T-Shirt is, if I'm not mistaken, from a Timbersfest event at Michigan's Adventure, where I first met him.
I'm sure he enjoyed the ride...water and all!
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
My condolences to his family and friends. I believe we only met one time, but I certainly always enjoyed his posts and especially his staunch defense of his beloved Lighthouse Point.
I apologize for the tardiness of this message.

I have searched through the threads and didn't see this (if it around sorry for duplicate post) Have you seen the video Troy made for Mr. Scott's birthday? (a while back)
