MrScott; unofficial Mayor of Lighthouse point

I've been on these boards for a few years now and I never talked to him. I am sorry for the loss of Mr. Scott. I've read all his post and they were entertaining to read and informative. I was thinking for all of you who were wanted some kind of mermorial at Lighthouse Point, Why not have a Candle Light Vigil that night on Opening night at Lighthouse point. Just a suggestion.

I want to donate, but I do not have a credit card to use paypal. Is thier any where I can mail some money? Does anyone plan to past a picture of the empty seat? I will be unable to attend. I hope to visit later this year.

I think you can use a personal check on Paypal.

I think just mailing Walt a check might be quicker than the e-check on paypal if you dont' already have a paypal account, but I would PM him and ask.

And I'm sure Walt and Jeff will get plenty of pics of the opening activities.

Thanks, Loopy, I will try.

Mark, Like you avatar. Nice work.

Actually you can use your checking account but as Mark has said above, if you don't already have a membership there it may be faster to just mail Walt a check. I'd PM him.

Wow... simply amazing. You all are some of the most decent people I have ever met. God bless you all.

Well, with that kind of donation, I don't see why Cedar Point/Red Cross wouldn't allow the seat to remain empty. I think it could be a great human interest story. And since the other riders are donating to charity to get their rides, I think they would understand.

But whatever is decided, I'm ok with it. Unfortunately I won't be able to be there to see what is done. I'm sure Walt and Jeff and others will give us detailed reports of all the opening events.

It's just amazing what has been done here as a community. I'm glad to be a part of this group!

It'd be great if all of us who donated could watch the trains go. I sure hope it works out to that happening.

I've been pitching this angle on opening to the media outlets who will be there, hopefully no one minds. I have shared the story with several other stations, as well as Bryan with CP so that he may do the same. I have required any coverage of the story involve water.

This is just amazing! All of you guys on here are such great people! I wish I had friends like you!!!

It'd simply be nice for those who gave to have a nice picture of the train loading and the memorial rider/activities. That's all.

I have recently started a new job and have not had much time to spend here, not that I posted a lot anyway, but I am having to keep myself composed right now after reading all of the posts here. The amazing support this community has shown is unbelievable. I am in forums of other loves of mine, and I can guarantee that the support shown here would never happen on any of the other forums given this circumstance. I hope one day I will be able to meet a lot of you in person. I don't get to go to CP much since I live 800 miles away, but I am making a pact to go atleast once a year until I pass on, or am physically not capable to travel anymore.

R.I.P. Mr Scott--I hope you find your lifthill to heaven.

First roller coaster ride was 1999. I had no clue what I was missing.

On opening day Maverick wont be open durning resort and JJC members so does that mean I can go there and watch?

I admire all of you who have come together in this effort. Unfortunately, I am in no position to help, although I most definitely would if I could.

It's just amazing to see how much this community has come together. We lost one of the most respected and admired members of this board, one who had seen it through from the very start. I think that this is a great idea and a great way to memorialize such a great PointBuzz member.

MrScott's love of Lighthouse Point must not be forgotten. It is impossible for many of us to think of LHP without thinking of MrScott and his unrestrained love for it. He got his wish with Maverick involving water, in a way. He will experience the ride as amongst the first thanks to this massive effort.

Wow, over $1,900. I am stunned and amazed, almost speechless even. His ride is guaranteed, I would say. Let's get this in the news, for it shows how great an enthusiast community can be.

This "community" has its moments, some better than others. Debates and rumors spread, but life goes on. The important thing is that life is lived to the fullest as the life we live is precious.

I admire all of you who have come together in order to make such an effort come to fruition. It's utterly remarkable, honestly. I am glad to be a part of this community that has proven itself capable of such great feats.

This community is wonderful. Thank you.

I'd like to take a minute out and give a big thanks to Walt for making this come together.

I would have loved to been able to organize this all but I think he understands now that more people are willing to give because it was coming from one of the site owners. I know for a fact I could have never got something of this scale together without his help.

I would also like to take another second to give a HUGE thank you to all that donated months ago for Scott's season pass and parking pass. I wish I could have recorded the conversation he and I had when he received his pass so that everyone could have heard the joy and happiness in his voice. The last thing I told him on the phone was to get well fast and I can't wait to meet you at the Point. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. Thank you all for taking a leap of faith with someone who most of you have never met, it will come back to you ten fold. To anyone that I didn't contact at that time, I sincerely apologize. I wrote PMs and e-mails to everyone that I knew frequented this site often. I'm very sorry if I missed you, it was not intentional by any means.

I'd like to preface the next paragraph with how amazing it is the money that we've raised for Scott and the Red Cross. I'd just like everyone to understand what we raised for his pass was strictly from me sending PMs and telling people about Scott's ailments. At that time we (myself and everyone that donated) thought Scott was on his way to recovery and just needed some cheering up.

It absolutely blows my mind that people just handed over money to a complete stranger on the internet for a guy who they'd never met to give him a pass to get into an amusement park. This community is one of the most wonderful things anyone could dream of even if we are a bunch of sarcastic jerks most of the time.

Thank you again, Walt. Thank you to everyone that contributed toward his pass and of course thanks to everyone that has donated toward the most recent raising.

Ya know, last fall when one of my patients told me about this site, I had no idea it would be the place that renewed my faith in people as not being a lost cause. People can be so rude, unappreciative, & self serving. (And I'm not talking about the fun sarcasm, or playful banter on here at all. I mean the truly mean spirited person). But they can also be so thoughtful, giving, & compassionate as well. Sometimes, just different people, sometimes two sides to the same coin. But it is so wonderful to see this side of the human race. I am so sorry for Scott's passing, yet because he was a kind soul, it brought out the best in other people. One can only hope for their own lives to have meant as much.

Some people have suggested other memorials for Scott, here & in other threads, but it sounds to me from reading what Troy has said, that this is enough. I look forward to seeing pics of the train with an empty seat (or Troy in it), if I don't get to see it that day.
