MrScott; unofficial Mayor of Lighthouse point

IvyRose-MissX's avatar

I wasn't always an active poster since I became a member, but When I started to see "signatures" with R.I.P. Mr Scott, I had to find out who he was. I remember him vaguely replying to posts but I wish I was around more to get to know him. Sounded like a great guy and I love staying in lighthouse point! Where can I find older posts with his writing?

I have no idea how I missed this thread earlier, but I must admit it was a tough read. MrScott was one of the original Point Buzzers, and he's one of the names I would always look for when skimming posts.

I always really enjoyed what he had to say, and I was fortunate enough to have a few online discussions with him in some old threads.

I don't post often, but I have been involved in this community from the beginning, and it really feels like I've lost a friend, even though I never met him.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Troy, Lisa and the rest of their family, and a HUGE thanks to Loopy and Walt for giving us all this outlet (and for reopening the donations!) => My donation has been sent.

As much as I feel it would be greater symbolism to have the seat go empty, this isn't about me, it's about MrScott... and from what Troy described of his brother's last wishes (ie NOT wanting a ceremony), and both Troy and Lisa speaking of MrScott's passion for sharing Cedar Point with as many people as possible, I do not think MrScott would want that seat to go empty.

Bumpity bump bump...

In case some people missed it throughout the OD thread fest.

Wow, Point Buzz raised enough money to be the second highest bid. That is truly amazing.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Very amazing. I'm proud to be a part of this and proud of everone who is. Sure hope those water bombs are working when he rides :)

When is the Inaugural Ride? Sat morning? Will it be an empty seat? Will MrScott's family get to be there? And I assume we will get some nice photos...

Details please.

Rides will begin at 8:30am tomorrow. The original plan was to have an empty front seat in the first row of the second train. I belive his brother will be there. I will have photos and assume Walt will be there as well to document the event.

Jason, "the original plan"???

2nd train???

The seat made possible by this site, and a lot of support from family and friends, puts my brother in the first train, front row.

I will be riding in that seat with Scott. Cedar Point and the Red Cross would frown on leaving and empty seat for the inaugural ride.

I *will* give up the front seat to one of the $1400 bidders if they are a couple. If they are, they bid big money to ride together. As the bidding closed they landed at spots 4 and 5.

That puts them in separate rows. As we have in the past, my brother and I will "step aside" to let companions ride together.

Scott wouldn't want it any other way.

Thank you everyone.

Well I could be wrong, but I thought someone said that Mr. Scott wouldn't feel right about taking the front seat on the front train from actual riders. Like I said, I could be wrong, but that's what I remember. Just to clarify, I'm #50, so this isn't coming from someone who even has a remote shot at any of the front seats.

I think I just misinterpreted this post you made troy:

Front seat seems more meaningful to me.

Im just glad Mr Scott will get to ride, reguardless of where he is seated. :)

R.I.P. MrScott... You're greatly missed!!

And the best part is that Water Will Be Involved!

Jason, it looks like a misinterpretation. Forget about it.
