Honestly Walt, if you're concerned on the transparency of the contributions, would it be that big of a deal to make one post with all the contributors and the amounts and just edit it every time a donation comes in?

If it's a privacy issue, I don't think anyone would care if their board name and amount donated was posted.

Just a thought.

Also, something else that was brought to my attention. If Scott hasn't redeemed his Maxx Pass we purchased him, Troy could redeem it in his name and use it to take his brother to the park. It was just a voucher I sent to him.

I guess this is just a post to tell Troy he's more than welcome to redeem the pass in his name. Or, if Troy has already got his season pass, I still have the receipt for the voucher. We could see if it could be returned and the money put towards the Maverick seat.

I'm not concerned about it personally, I just want to be open about it. Rather than assume people are OK with their donations being posted publicly, I'll keep those mentioned above in on the nuts and bolts.

How about doing just like Loopy said by making a post and updating it. But instead of names, just put anonymous next to the totals, and if someone gives permission for their name to be used, then use it. I personally don't have a problem with it since I already stated how much I've donated, so if you get around to making the post, you could put my name.

I didn't intend to make a big deal about it. I think the current setup will be fine.

I agree. Afterall, it's not so much about who donated what...it's about the end result.

WOW.. How sad.

I looked back through my PM's and still had one conversation saved from 2004 that Mr. Scott and I had about Star Trek Quotes, of all things.

:)

What a great guy.

I have to look at my finances, but I plan on donating to the cause. I think the empty seat is a great idea.

And to you, Mr. Scott, One last time,

"Hello Computer..."

Kara, it was never about who donated what, it was only for transparency purposes, as Walt stated.

If Walt feels comfortable doing it this way then there's no problems, it's just a safety measure anyhow. I wouldn't have even half of a concern about Walt collecting the money.

On a different topic, Troy, send me a PM if you have a few free minutes. I'm just not sure which account you're currently checking and don't want to miss you.

As Kara said...it's just the end result. We just want to make sure the TOTAL amount of donations is enough to secure a seat.

Even a brief message that says "the lowest bid is $$$ and we need a bit more"

I never really got a chance to talk to to Mr. Scott, and although I only joined this community about a year ago, and rarely post... I have been reading everything on this site for multiple years now and I must say that Mr. Scott was definitely one of, if not the nicest, most caring, and sincere people on here.

Mr. Scott, you will be missed!
Troy, I give my condolences to you and your family.

My donation has been made, and I really hope this Maverick seat works out... this is such an awesome idea!

That's incredible. That's currently in the top 12 of all the current bids.

I'm glad I was able to contribute a small portion of that. :)

I just recently joined this site, but after reading everything that people have said about MrScott, I wish I was able to make a contribution myself. I think it would be a very fitting tribute to him for a seat to be left empty in his honor *** Edited 4/26/2007 4:13:11 PM UTC by YoungBear***

Maybe there would be enough for two seats: an empty one for Mr. Scott, and one for Troy to accompany him. Since the total's getting up there, it might be enough.

MrScott had been really sick for about 6 months to a year I think. I'm not sure what the nature of his sickness actually was.

Hey, it looks like I'm a little behind the times, but I just saw this post, and I just wanted to say that I too, like so many others, really appreciated the kindness that MrScott showed to all of my silly newbie questions. I'll definitely think of him when I'm looking out over the lake in August. Rest in peace, Mr. Mayor.
