I agree that we should at least put something together on the site as a tribute.
I still am quite stunned.

I actually just messeged Walt with an idea of my own. I want his approval first ofcourse. But my idea was for us to raise money and name one of the cabins/cottages at LHP after him.

I didn't know MrScott all that much through the boards, but I absolutely looked forward to what he had to contribute to any conversation. He will be missed greatly, i offer my condolences and prayers to his whole family.
CPGuru That wouldn't be a bad Idea, I would contribute. Did he have a favorite Cabin or anything?

I've been a member for less then a year, but read many of Mr. Scott's posts. He was never mean or rude to anyone. He also was very intelligent about many subjects. He had that great PointBuzz sense of humor. A great man, it's a shame that god felt it was his time. I would like to send out my prayers and condolences to his family.
Troy: My condolences to you and your family through this very tough time.
I know I'm like the 50th person to say it, but these boards certainly won't be the same without him. I've been a lurker/poster for 4.5 years now, and have enjoyed his presence on here since then.
I'll also never forget the favor you and him did for me with the videos a few weeks ago. Again, my condolences to you and your family.

I also enjoyed reading his posts and he will be missed.

I read the posts on PointBuzz daily but I don't post very often. MrScott's posts were always worth reading. I will miss you MrScott.

I'm sad to read this. he will never be able to ride Maverick and I know he was very excited to ride it. He always knew water would be involved :)

Good bye MR.Scott. All though I never knew you I enjoyed your posts and you will always be missed from here. May you now be free to roam around Cedar point and Lighthouse Point as you please.
Reading all these new posts tonight make me cry all over again. It's kind of ridiculous, because I haven't even been here a year and I never even met Mr. Scott in person. Guess I understand why Randi decided to leave off for a while. :(
Troy, please know that Mr. Scott was really beloved here by a lot of people. If there's anything at all we can do to help, please let us know, in this thread or by PM.
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
I've read this entire thread up to this post, and I will finish it tonight, there isn't much left, but I had to reply to this.
GREAT IDEA!
I will make the first pledge of $500 to get the ball rolling. Cedar Point HAS to know what MrScott brought to the table with is incessant hyping of Lighthouse Point (not at all unwarranted, it's the ONLY way to experience the point!). He should be recognized with a memorial plaque on Cabin 101. That was his favorite cabin because it was the one we stayed in when we made the video's, and we stayed there 3 years in a row.
Somebody, anybody, take the ball and run with this and make it happen. I'm hip deep in going through closets and family memoribilia. The time I've spent here tonight has been to honor this site on Scott's behalf and to give me a break from the pain of going through some of the things he kept because they were important to him.
My family meant more to my brother than I ever knew, and it hurts deeply to find out what we meant to him after he is gone.
I thank Jeff and Walt for the courtesy to let this thread remain. Techincally it is off topic, but I think it is relevant. Both of you have shown class in this painful process.
Thank you everyone.
Troy
MrScott WILL RIDE MAVERICK!!!!
He will be at The Point June 10th-12th. He had requested that I take his remains to Cedar Point, post cremation of course, and free him into Sandusky Bay to forever watch over his beloved Point and listen to the clankity-clank of Maggie for all of eternity.
As his brother, I will honor his request, but his remains will take one last ride on every coaster in the park, including Power Tower. He may haunt me for a while after making him ride Power Tower, but he WILL ride it. :-)
I can't thank you all enough for your support in this difficult time.
You are all very special people.
Troy
Mr Scott you will be missed on the boards.
My prayers go out to the family and to Mr scott. He can be at the park forever now.

Scott M. Taylor
Scott M. Taylor, age 45 of Holland, died Sunday April 22, 2007, at Holland Hospital. He was born June 28, 1961 in Muskegon to James and Judith (LeMieux) Taylor and was a 1979 graduate of Fruitport High School. Scott has resided in Holland for ten years and had been employed by the Johnson Controls Co. for 12 years. He is survived by his mother and step father, Judith and Donald Nellis of North Muskegon, his father and step mother, James and Wanda Taylor of Spring Lake, a sister, Lisa (Ed) Brady of Muskegon, a brother, Troy (Sue) Taylor of Pickerington, Ohio, step sisters, Kimberly Sauser and Karla (Joe) Kirchhoff, both of Rockford. No visitation or services will be scheduled. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice. Arrangements are by the Dykstra Life Story Funeral Home.
While I understand the emotional reasons behind wanting to remember MrScott with a Lighthouse Point memorial, the PointBuzz community is just a small part of the entire Cedar Point universe. It's not realistic to expect Cedar Point to take any action in regards to his passing.
However, we will accept donations for a memorial contribution. The obituary does not indicate a specific charity, but perhaps through discussion here, we can find something appropriate. While we decide which charity to give the collected amount to, we'll go ahead and start accepting donations.
(Donation link has been removed. Thank you to all who contributed!)
We will take donations for a week. On Wednesday, May 2, I will send the total collected to the charity that is selected.

You are a good brother for doing this.
RIP and enjoy your rides Mr Scott.
I'll see ya in Mid May, meet ya on the dock of Lighthouse Point, I'll bring the beer!
Walt,
Cedar Point usually works with various charities each year. May I suggest you contact them about an appropriate charity and ask them to make a matching contribution on behalf of Scott? United Way is one that comes to mind.
I agree that the memorial at the Point is not realistic...but this is something they may do.
"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."
-Walt Disney
I can't imagine that CP or the LHP staff would object to a donation bin at the LHP desk to collect tributes for the charity that the family decides upon. It would be for a good cause and also a way to remember Mr. Scott throughout this coming season.
I received an e-mail from Troy, who asked the following be posted:
"Scott's wishes were to be cremated upon death and have his remains scattered around places he loved during life. He insisted on no viewing, no funeral, no memorial at all. Some may think that's selfish to those that he left behind, but if you think about it, it forces us all to remember him for who he was when he was alive. I am thankful that he made that decision. Our mother took his death extremely hard. I don't think she would have made it through any ceremonial proceedings. He was her first born, that holds a special place in every mothers heart.
Thank you for being a part of my brother's life."
