Skyhawk’s style fences would have worked fantastically! They should have gone with those instead. Who knows, maybe they'll fix it later down the road if it ends up making the ride experience seem less and they get enough complaints from us. But maybe they'll do something like your idea Tim. That would probably make it a tad bit better.
Perhaps put the Maverick story along the length of the fence with some themed props. But the story would be in small sections like in Dragsters queue. Because if they did the story in one line, we'd be reading it backwards.....and that'd be confusing.:)
And I think it's easy to say that, with how close the fence is coming to the track out of the heartline and the horseshoe turn, those spots should provide a good "closed in" feeling. Maybe it'll just suck in some/most areas (train tracks, midway which looks like it is indeed getting fenced) but be a positive in other areas (turn into horseshoe, out of HS, turn into tunnel, and turn out of the heartline). Though I will admit that overall, the fence defiantly has a negative affect being in some of the best photogenic areas.
But let’s not jump to any HASTE conclusions just right now. Maybe they'll put in some holes like they did last year with the construction fence.;)
But THANK GOD the stations budget didn’t suffer because that is one (yeah, you guessed it) SEXY looking station!:)
The canyons as well are turning out very sexy……which goes back to the fence issue of not allowing us to see the detail they put on the 2nd turn canyon.
I also like where they’re putting the gift shop. They already guaranteed to have one customer.;)
COME ON OPENING DAY, HURRY UP!!!:)

I like the idea about walking through a gift shop as you exit. Disney does this on many/all of their major attractions. You get them in the shop while the ride is still fresh in their heads.
Speed Zone just outside of TTD's "Winner's Circle" serves this purpose as well.
As for the dreaded fence. Blocking the view of the ride isn't that big of a deal. It adds more of a surprise when you get on it. Plus, CP has done this type of thing in the past:

Just imagine a train going through the corkscrew element and a train coming down the brakerun at the same time, with the sunsetting over the water in the background. I can see it now!

Except that, I'm sure they won't want you standing on the exit ramp taking pictures all day. It appears that there's more fencing going up around that end of the midway as well.

I was about to write a great post about all of you being crybabies over the damn fence.
Then I looked at the photo of it. Gross.

I hope they are still planning on the waterfall around the heartline. That was the best part of the whole thing.
^The best part??

Isnt the best part the canyons?
No wait, wasnt it the coal thing?

Is it the heart line?

Didn't someone say the coal thing was cut?

Yeah.....but I caught a few people saying it was going to be the best part or something. Same deal with the cave themed thing.

I haven’t seen it yet so pardon me if this has already been noticed but they've lit up the lift by the looks of the funcam. I wonder why? Maybe they're running the train up the lift. Not necessarily full circuit testing but rather just up the lift. Or maybe they’re just using them to do checks on the components.
That's just my 2 cents.
-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut
Or maybe they're just testing the lights.
EDITED to remove broken link.

I was going to say the ride itself, but that's me. :)

^^Yeah, you're right.....I just want to see some testing darn it! :)

Well, in your defense (or defence for our rivals in Calgary ;)), there were some rather unusual lights near the base of the hill.
