Top Thrill 182, were you being sarcastic about the trees in your landscape section because I hope you know there's allot more than 5 trees. The ones around the horseshoe turn aren’t in bloom yet so we've yet to see their true impact and the other evergreens are spread out throughout the area and are still in wrapping. So once they’re wrapping is removed, they'll spread out and look great. Don’t forget that they can’t just put in full sized trees. We have to deal with small, newer ones that will get bigger as the years go by.
Just wait till you see the area in person before jumping to conclusions. I think the area will look beautiful when all is done. I feel satisfied with what they've done and don’t feel a bit disappointed that the coal chute and canyon shaft will probably not be showing up.
What I expect from Cedar Point is a 5 star coaster.....I could care less if it had 5 star themeing. Maverick seems like it will be a 5 star coaster, and while the themeing isn’t anything close to Expedition Everest or other uber themed coasters, it's the closest/best CP can do.

And don't forget, T & T said "We are not finished with the ride theming, and I think you'll enjoy what we have yet to add."
Let's not count our chickens
TTD 120mph, I was being sarcastic in the landscape section. Probably should have put in a wink. Maybe that reads differently than I was intending it to, as I really do agree with you. I'm sure it will look nice in a few years when they have had time to grow a little. I was just saying that the area looks a bit, only a bit, bare.
If this ride was planned for anywhere else in the park, I wouldn't have cared about the themeing at all. Being in Frontier Town though, I was hoping they would put forth their best effort to have the ride fit in well. Disaster Transport has plenty of themeing, so its obvious they can do it. Its not the best quality themeing around, but there is at least plenty of it. I'm sure the ride will be great, and I'm sure it will look great on opening day. T and T did say that there was more themeing to come, and I think there is still time for things to be added so I'm sure it will be great. I was just slightly dissappointed that they led us to believe there was going to be more themeing that than there probably will be. *** Edited 4/7/2007 6:07:12 AM UTC by Top Thrill 182***
Thrills Around the Corner!
And I want to be clear, I'm sure I will instantaneously fall in love with Maverick, just as I mostly adore every other ride and attraction on the Point. CP is like family to me, and it's because I love it so much that I feel entitled to point out its flaws, just as I would not hesitate to mention that my brother-in-law has scrawny bird legs and my sister-in-law puts curry in every food item she makes (both true, BTW). Cedar Point, in turn, can point out my many flaws, if it so desires. ;)

No, please God no, the park would never open if they took the time to do that. ;)

LOL!! I'm the same as Ensign. I love CP more than any other park (well, maybe second to Disney) and that's why I'm tough on them. I basically grew up with Cedar Point like a lot of people on here did. So, I expect more out of them than say Six Flags. I know Maverick is going to be another stellar coaster in their lineup and I'm sure I'm going to love it just as much (if not more) than their other rides. But, that's doesn't mean I'm not going to be critical of it at the same time. I'm sure its a product of Architecture school where professors tear your projects apart in front of the whole class. But, its all done with the best intentions. If you don't expect the best each and every time, you're not going to get the best. Like Ensign said, CP is doing the best they can and we all know it. But, when people question their moves, they're going to do even better next time. :)
The trees is an example of them listening. I remember them saying a few times they have had allot of questions concerning it and that they'd be putting them in to solve the problem.
Be glad we have trees and a theme and not a crap job like Scream and Medusa.

Scream was actually one of the most aesthetically pleasing rides I've ever seen from the front. If they could only plant some grass!
Speaking of grass, is the Maverick area going to be all grass, or is it going to retain some of the current dirt look? I sort of like the dirt look for the western theme.
Thrills Around the Corner!
Wouldn't dirt create the same issue with WT's sand. Grass keeps the wind from getting dirt/sand into my eyes.

I'd like to think that they'd be doing something along the lines of what they have in the rendering. With the majority of the land being grass with some spots of dirt....or gravel.
-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut
I highly doubt they would leave any of the site bare dirt. That would turn into mud when it rains and eventually grow weeds, etc... I'm sure they're going to roll out sod and/or plant some grass. Like Adam said, I'm sure there will be some portions of gravel too - like under the track.

I would like to point out that Medusa has two very nice palm trees nestled right in there, I guess that's a step in the right direction for SF. ;)
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I wonder if they actually have had any luck this week with all this stupid snow that has to fall. It sucks they cannot even test anything in this weather.
^^It's nice to see some palm trees growing out of concrete.....I never knew they did that!:)

Well, if you can grow a goose egg out of a parking lot, you can grow anything.
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
That egg was actually bought from another park. The previous owners refuse to tell how it came about.
-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut
Sounds like it may have been a maintenance nightmare.
I'm not so sure CP made a wise decision there. Only time will tell.
