You bring up a very good point in your last sentence.
Although I'm not a little less excited everytime I go to the point, I would like something new to ride.
And when did you listen to those interviews that state that the park will become the capital of tge world again.

Thats the thing, CP is trying to make it family, but what is there a father and son can ride together?? There Dragster for dad son cant fit) Then planet snoopy (father cant fit)What is there?? Oh yeah Dinosaurs alive.
Hahaha. Dragster?! A family attraction?!?! Face Smash!!!
Dragster is a thrill ride. Its marketed as one and it always will be. Want a good family ride? How about Iron Dragon as a good example? How about the train? Those are family rides. Most of the planet/camp snoopy rides are kid rides that adults can ride too. You want some examples of good family rides? How about something like Curse of DarKastle?
Based on what Kinzel said a CoasterMania, it seems like there is something big planned for 2013. So why not add something like DA for 2012?
No I know dragster is. I mean dads usually want to go on thrill kids want kid things. Iron Dragon and Mine Ride are like only rides both can go on.
Dinosaurs? Really ? <Yawn!> I am not suprised.
They can't fix the theming in Disaster Transport, they can't fix the lights on the big wheel, but they can add an upcharge attraction that Disney would include in their admission price, and at the same time remove another attraction entirely? No wonder Hildebrand is "Extremely Excited" about this - his overall maintenance costs are going down (fewer rides - again), and his park's income will (hopefully) increase.
Any word on if Soak City is going to charge for the mat's you ride on for the new slides next year? Sounds like something they would keep in that "we'll give you the details later this year" press release.
I find it strange that CF is bringing in attractions that are so generic - it seems that every park in the chain gets one (Starlight, Windseeker, Dino's...). Outside of the few relocation projects, and a major coaster or two, there isn't much differentiating the parks over the past few years.

Also not sure im going to like seeing dinosaurs when I ride Millennium. Think it will take a little away for me( Maybe just me).Maybe they'll charge us an extra dollar to ride Millenium since we'll be able to see some of the dinosaurs. :)
Please dont give them ideas. :-)
You know with all this talk about the $5 admission charge, I have a question. What do you guys think of Challenge Park? I realize its not actually in the park, but the prices for those extra charge attractions are about the same at DA.
Now I realize that DA is replacing a current attraction that everyone could ride(but didnt). But the case could also be made that Challenge Park is prime real estate to exapand CP or Soak City.

I never really see people on the go karts or mini golf. But there seems to always be someone on sky scraper and rip cord.

Maybe they could paint them flourescent colors or make them 3-D and get us for another dollar to buy cardboard glasses. Oh wait no more ideas -sorry.
I think it's pretty telling that Cedar Point is disappointing both people who want more family rides and people who want a new thrill ride.
I think their approach the last couple of years were to add a few smaller thrill rides that would cost less but be more of a middle ground. While I think one or two of these rides were good and a valuable addition, I think they missed the mark on both sides by concentrating so much here. The biggest thrill seekers don't see them as much compared to what had come in the past. Those wanting experiences for everyone (kids, teens, and adults who might not have as high a thrill tollerance) aren't satisfied either.
I wonder a little if the park wouldn't have been better forgoing 4 of the last 5 big additions (Windseeker, Maverick, MaXair, Skyhalk, and Shoot the Rapids) and instead using the money to put in one good dark ride and one new bigger coaster. It would have been fewer new rides, but rather than failing to statisfy both groups, you might have been able to give them both at least one thing they really liked.
Wicked Twister...I think that Challenge Park is more a draw to the Resort guests and they tend to go there in the evening. Soak City, for that matter, is largely intended for resort guests which explains why there has been no urgency to update that park much over the years like you might see at a typical water park.

I think some of you are supporting CP too much. I'm sorry, but animatronic dinosaurs is 100% old school. I'm not saying they should have added another giga coaster. A family attraction is fine, but dinosaurs?????? With the special effects movies have these days, are robotic dinosaurs really going to appease an audience...and charging more on top of it??????
I just love how negative everybody seems to be, even though we knew we weren't getting anything. Get over it! There isn't enough money to put a new giga or woodie at CP every year! Stop dreaming and accept reality! They have needed to make small updates for a long time now, and I'm sure we will see some this year. CP still has arguably the best coaster line-up in the world. You don't need anything crazy. Get over it!

With that said, can't you also say that DA will be more of a draw to resort guests? CP is trying to attract the family crowd to stay at their resorts. Wouldnt the resort guests with with younger kids be likely to spend their money on DA?

Thank you. And all this whinning about how CP isnt getting any coasters is nonsense since its been all but confirmed we are getting a coaster for 2013.
Well, that is a valid point Wicked. Yes, I assume that the resort guests may go through the attraction more as a percentage than the typical day guests. At least once. Will they do it again next season? I don't know. Again, we don't know what season #2 will hold for Kings Island.
Also, I don't see a lot of whinning about CP not getting a coaster. I do see criticism of the attraction choice and the removal of PWE.

By whinning, I mean the few people in this thread and others who are upset because they are putting in a dinosaur exhibt instead of a world record breaking coaster.
I don't even care we didn't get a coaster. I just want to hear or see stupid Dinosaurs. And waste more money. Would rather them use that one mill to fix up the coaster. Because this year was probably the worst. The coaster are falling apart:
Gemini
MEAN STREAK
Blue Streak
Mine Ride
Corkscrew
Iron Dragon
Disaster Transport
They all need improvements along with all brand new upgraded, COMFORTABLE SEATS/Trains!! I felt like my spine snapped on almost everyride except: Millennium,Maverick,Dragster,Raptor and Wicked Twister
There is something they can fix on everyride. That adds up. So they waste it on crap?? Thats in same sate. It's not like DA was at Knotts. No KINGS ISLAND

So just cause they are doing DA and the mat-racer, that means they cant work on any of the things you listed there?

Couldn't agree more.
Roller coasters are my favorite, but I have a long list of family attractions that I would love to see before another rollercoaster is ever added. A modern funhouse, modern dark ride, and a real log flume for starters! It’s been mentioned numerous times over the years for a reason -- all three are staple attractions that every amusement park should have. When they eventually construct another roller coaster , one can argue Cedar Point already has enough. To keep the excitement alive, they should carefully replace the existing collection with newer and superior models. Retain the elements of each that are part of the classic experience, and surprise the world when they replace the ordinary. For example, keep the corkscrew element over the midway but build and entirely new recording breaking inversion roller coaster in and around the footprint of the corkscrew. This concept could be done with Mine Ride, Wildcat!, Disaster Transport, and Dragster. Would anyone miss the little oval track layout of Dragster? Woodstock Express and Jr. Gemini could be replaced with a real family roller coasters as well. Disney knows how to make a family roller coaster, why not copy them?
Rides come and go, a while The Paddlewheel Excursions has certainly seen better days, taking it out is like removing the castle from Disneyland. It's a cornerstone of the Cedar Point experience. It should get a pricy makeover while they are adding this new attraction - not removed. What really makes me sad is the lagoons -- which have been regularly compromised since 1987 are now in danger of extinction. They, just like Lake Erie around the park, are a major component of Cedar Point's unique, world class location. Cedar Point is actually a huge property and there is simply no justification (in my eyes) of any expansion that detracts from beauty and atmosphere of that area -- including any record breaking roller coasters. It isn’t necessary to see any Midway rides from the Frontier section of the park. If I had to choose -- goodbye record breaking eyesores - I love the park more than fad rides. There is certainly room for both but the Kinsel era has been all about short sided bang. I know Cedar Point isn’t a one man show, but I truly hope it’s over. Time for damage repair?
Had to rant . . . Bit of a sad day for a Cedar Point lover.
