Maverick was most definitively a risk. It was the first roller coaster in the park since 1989 not to have a record attached to it at the time of opening. Everyone was doubting Maverick as an unsuccessful roller coaster because it didn't have a "____est" record. It is now probably one of the most popular rides in the park and many patrons favorite roller coasters at the park. It was a risk and it certainly paid off.
I thought it was the steepest.. Ot was there something already steeper than 95 degrees.
I don't think you can compare the investment at CWL to CP to invalidate his comments about economic reasons.
For one, the economy is in much better shape in Canada than it is in the US.
Secondly, CWL has greater potential for park visitors just because of the major population centre around it and the lack of competing parks close by.
Doesn't that area have 6+ million people within an hour of the park?
Visits are more enticing too since it's close so lower fuels costs, so I think CF might feel it has a greater chance of ROI.
There is definitely more than six million. Toronto has 4 million people, then Add a million for Mississauga and area, a million for Hamilton, Burlington and Niagara Falls, another million for Kitchener/Waterloo/London and the cities north of Toronto, plus traffic from Buffalo, you've got a potential market of 10 million or so people who all use Wonderland.
Fav Coaster credits of 2012 season...
The Voyage, Leviathan, Wild Eagle, Thunderhead, The Legend, Flight of Fear

First terra coaster. No idea what that means but they marketed it as the first terra coaster.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

And thank god they built it, out of every coaster I've ever rode, Maverick has by far been the best.I heard that CP "ordered" a coaster for 2013, is this true?
I sure hope they did. It seems like it is time for a new one. I doubt anyone other than the high ranking people at CP know for sure, but there have been a lot of rumors that there will be a new coaster.
The biggest clue so far is what Mr. Kinzel said at CoasterMania

If you are talking about this: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08090/868906-28.stm , it was just a marketing campaign. The roller coaster did not have any "firsts" or "___est" titles upon opening.

They should have done something like this. For families. And they could of just upgraded Paddelboats. Instead of Western theme and that guy on bike. Dinosaurs. That ride actually looks sweet. And the dinosaurs look real.

And what was that?
during coastermania he said, "next year at this time, we will have a surprise for you."
So whatever the surprise is. It will most likely be told during coastermania. So my guess would be a roller coaster since it is called COASTERmania

If you stand on the bridge by thunder canyon, you can see a rather large orange stake in the woods.
Fantastic! Wouldn't it be great to clear cut that area and build another giant, steel roller coaster. Wouldn't it be cool to see past the dinosaurs all the way through to Hotel Breakers while riding the train to Frontier Town?
