how many years will it be until CP builds something worth riding..?

I think an entire coaster over water would be crazy. Especially if they created nice effects with it. That seems like a cool idea to me :)

@Corkscrewfollies - Do you think they would take out MS? It DOES take up a lot of land, and it doesn't seem to be very popular during the normal season. Not to mention it's such a hassle to keep up (I even heard it has its own maintenance crew).

I think there is a rumor of one going near turnpike cars and calypso.

I do think a coaster over water would be cool, but I dont think the whole entire ride should be over water.

That would also be a good place to put it. They don't really need two Cadillac cars, so it wouldn't be too much of a loss to get rid of the one on the Blue Streak mini-midway.

Same. :D

Lol at MS having its own maintenance crew.....:)

I would like to see what a steel coaster would be like over the lagoons back behind TTD where PWE used to be (now that PWE is gone, we can hope for something new there when DA gets old and they retire it....) The station can be the old pwe building location too. This coaster would also have a cobra roll over the river and the rest be built around the trees by MF's turnarounds on the island, and such. :)

I think it would be really cool to see a B&M Dive or flyer over the river. If not one of those, A medium height GCI that has lots of quick turns around the river would be very cool.

Ever since I heard the rumors of a coaster near the turnpike cars, I keep wondering what if it crossed Permeter Road. I think it would be a cool idea. Just take out some of those horrible Cedar Dorms plus the turnpike cars area, and you have a nice chunk of land to work with.

The only problem I have with the turnpike car area is that there are a lot of really nice trees there.

Yea cause everyone goes to an amusement park to look at trees. There isn't even anywhere to sit in shade over there. Who cares.

I care.

You asked. Sort of.

I care too.

Me too. But what do we know?

Well it makes the park look much nicer. I would actually be pretty unhappy if they were to put a coaster there and took out all those trees.

You think trees aren't important? Without trees, CP would look like a factory...

I would think there could be a balance between rides and trees. Some parks like Dollywood, Busch Gardens, and Silver Dollar City seem to make a concerted effort to strike that balance. While Cedar Point's landscaping can be respectable enough (with its Sears catalog level of imagination) they tend to go for "blank slate" with new attraction areas.

White water landing was full of beautiful trees and shrubbery. Maverick was a great addition to the park, but I don't feel like they replaced enough of those trees that were removed. Now I know that it is not possible to replace every single tree that was removed. However, I feel like the replaced the very minimum amount of trees. There are a lot of places within Maverick's layout where CP could have put some smaller trees and bushes.

I understand that when larger rides are constructed, it calls for clearing of land and in my opinion, CP should put in a little more effort into replacing the foliage that they remove.

And you simply cannot disagree with what wonderfully placed trees does to the ride experience on a coaster.

With a few large oaks and some medium elms, you can bump an excitement rating from a lowly 4.78 all the way to a respectable 6.89 easily.

^ CORRECT! that is one thing that Cedar Point does not have, rides that have. The Beast at KI really isn't a fantastic coaster, but it is a wonderful ride that goes through what seems to be never ending trees. Now KI can keep lots of trees around because they are basically on the side of a mountain and trees are everywhere. So no matter how many trees they get rid of, there still seems to be a ton more around.

Cedar Point does not have that luxury of a lot of trees, so everything that they do cut down, they should try and find some way to replace them.

Did they even replace ANY trees when they cut all of the ones down for Shoot The Rapids? I think the ride would have been much more exciting if they were to have the flume go through the trees.

Thunder Canyon seems to be the only ride that has a lot of trees around. I am not saying that the rides need as many trees as TC as, but seriously, there are very very few rides at CP that have any trees at all.

More trees would be nice, though it seems there really isn't much space to put them. CP seems to be mainly concrete, for the land that they do have, a lot of it is water. (Rivers/lagoons)

Only a small portion of the park is river.

There's a river on the peninsula? Other than the tiny artificial stream segment between TTD and Magnum, I can't think of an actual watercourse in the park.

Unless you count the lazy river at SC, of course...

Isn't the lagoon fairly shallow too?

1st...my answer to the thread subject=Who knows we don't know what the high up's have planned for the park over a few years

2. If you haven't realized, they put this up to bring in money because apparently it's a money maker. If 3 point challenge didn't make money do you think they would have several? If cheese on a stick wasn't amazing do you think they would sell it? Apparently DA was working at KI, so they brought it here. Just because you don't like it or you think it's lame doesn't mean what someone else thinks. I think those giant suffed animals and guitars, and all sorts of other things games give out as prizes for their ridiculous games are stupid. But working all day I see a ton of em around, so apparently people want that giant ass banana. This is geared towards families and kids, ect. It'll work, and it'll sell. If they doubted it they probably wouldn't have brought it here...just saying.

3. I want a GCI woodie or a gravity group woodie with a timberliner/launch system, but will that happen probably, no...and if so not for awhile...What we all want varies, and we're a small group...Families bring in the money. Just because I want a really expensive badass woodie coaster in the park doesn't mean I'm ganna get it lol...

4. Why does this board talk about trees...You want shade...go indoors...or in the back of the park...Sit on a bench near Town Hall, there's plenty of shade...I actually think there are alot of trees at CP...not as much as way back in the day, but still....I actually enjoy being out in the sun...sun means tan...tan means I look good haha...

I don't mean to sound bitchy...But just relax and enjoy the park...There's alot of things I don't like about the park or things I just downright don't like but I deal with it...I think Windseeker is the most terrible idea ever to exist but you know what I don't go rage quitting over it...I move on...it is just an amusement park people lols
