That past few years have been pretty much a failure for Cedar Point. Sure Windseeker and STR were cool for the first ride, but they aren't worth riding a bunch of times. Heck you could already see the decline of interest in Windseeker just a couple weeks after it opened.
The only rides that have been good additions to the park in the past few years are maverick max air and Skyhawk.
What happened to that Cedar Point? Now they want to be the same as every other park and build all this mediocre garbage.
With 4 Failures behind us, we can only hope for some clues in the beginning of the 2012 season for something big.
I agree.
I remember being a kid and it seemed like CP was building a new coaster all the time!
I couldn't wait to ride the new addition every summer.
Now, I look forward to the haunted attractions of Halloweekends more than the rides themselves.
2013 Has to be something good. CP can't disappoint for 5 years in a row. If not an awesome new coaster it has to be an awesome new flat ride.
I agree. We all want coasters -but they have to cater to families and kids and gentle riders to.But you guys are correct. Thought this would be the year for a new coaster. Sorry to see Paddlewheel go. Especially for an attraction that is currently at KI. Also not sure im going to like seeing dinosaurs when I ride Millennium. Think it will take a little away for me( Maybe just me). I lived in Chicago all my life until last year and Great America spoiled us with record breakers and coasters frequently and when we got spoiled they took them away/stopped getting them or built little kiddy ones. Back to the point we just have to accept that they need to satisfy everyone not just coaster fans like us. But it is time for a new awesome coaster. It seems like a long while.
Yes I agree with you. They do have to add things for families, but this isjust ridiculous..
They take out a free family ride (pwe) and add a family thing that you have to pay for.
I too was hoping for a coaster this year but as we can all see, we didnt get one.
OH, and they better to a lot of maintenance this off season.
I dont' expect a new major coaster every two or three years, but I am disappointed by what CP has done since Maverick (and I think Maverick is painful to be honest). I understand they need to build up other parks, but I about fell on the floor when I saw the Leviathon coaster announcement at Canada's Wonderland. Outside of the lift hill height, it doesn't look drastically different than Behemeth. The description says if focuses on curves after the first hill...well, there's a bunch of large hills after the first hill. My point is, if Cedar Fair is being passive at Cedar Point for economic reasons (which I can understand), then why the large investment at Wonderland when they already have a similar massive coaster by the same manufacturer? Meanwhile Dorney Park is getting another used ride.
The days of major coasters and rides every other year are over. That will be the first thing some of you will have to understand. I think the park has had noble intentions the last few years trying to build more family friendly attractions. I just think the execution has been terrible. Taking out Paddlewheel for an upcharge attraction just reinforces that.
I understand that. But they can't be adding family attractions every year. planet snoopy, str, windseeker (although it was supposed to be a thrill ride) and now dinobore.
They are going to have to realize that they need to change their focus. The past 4 years have been family attractions.
Cedar Point still has to add a new coaster or a good thrill ride every once in a while. The 2012 season will be the start of the 5th year since a new coaster was added. 2013 Has to be a coaster or something big.
I'm hoping for a major coaster to come to the park. If that doesn't happen, I want to see a flat ride like sky hawk or max air. Those have been popular since the day those rides opened, and I don't expect their popularity to decline anytime soon.
We don't know what the profits or attendance for Cedar Point are, so I don't think we can say that the past few years have been a "failure". It's likely that Dinosaurs Alive will make money, so I don't think that can be called a failure either.
Yes, they certainly have not done anything that has captured the imagination in recent years, but that doesn't mean they are all bad business decisions. Many of us are used to a very exciting and over-the-top approach from CP and it is hard to realize those times are gone, but that doesn't mean they aren't adding rides that "someone" wants to ride.

For me it is like watching the Miami Dolphins fail every year in their draft selections and Quarterback traces. You think the bleeding is going to have to stop sooner or later.

I am disappointed that Cedar Point is no longer as much a thrill park as a family park. Sigh. Couldn't we get a nice thrill ride every other year?
Please remain in your seat until the ride comes to a complete and final stop.

Windseeker was a thrill ride that was going to light a fire under the crowd. No? Shoot the Rapids maybe?

Just because it may bring in some cash does not make it a good decision.
They will never see 5 bucks from me for this crap. Fake animatronic dinosaurs?
Dumb for KI, and dumb dumb dumb for CP. You find crap like this on the strip at Niagara Falls...and there is a reason for that...it's cheesy.
Ugh.
Way to listen, Ouimet.

They probably already had this planned out when ouimet first started. And he probably just said to finish it since it had already begun. I'm sure that if he started at CP last year (2010) we would not be seeing dinos here.

Would it matter as much if Miami still had Dan Marino? I mean, Millennium Force isn't retiring. :)
How long do you think millenium force will be around for? I mean, its gonna have to come down eventually right?

Are you kidding? This makes CP LESS of a family park. Don't you get it?
