how many years will it be until CP builds something worth riding..?

I think the point is that this is intended for the kids but is likely to piss off the parents in the process. There are kids who will want to see the dinos...as there are at Kings Island. But, mom and dad aren't going to be thrilled with shelling out another $20 to humor said kids.

This cerainly didn't hurt the thrill crowd. They didn't remove a thrill ride to make room for this.

This is stupid screw cedar point. who wants to see a fake dinosaur move his head back and fourth with a super fake yell/shrill. This is stupid and I hope they regret it right now. Let's all graffiti the dinosaurs so they have to get rid of them:) I mean I would rather them paint a ride then this crap. Or clean a bathroom. That would be family friendly.

Also not sure im going to like seeing dinosaurs when I ride Millennium. Think it will take a little away for me( Maybe just me).

Maybe they'll charge us an extra dollar to ride Millenium since we'll be able to see some of the dinosaurs. :)

Coaster23's avatar

Maybe they should charge for everyride too!! They NEED MONNNEYYY!!! What a bunch of crap.Over here Dinosaurs. Booo, Ten steps later Frontier Town Yayy, Then walk more and a bunch of more mismatch things!!! Wheeewww. For god sake just build a thrill ride.

Families??
Shoot the Rapids is only worth going on 100+ degrees....waste

Windseeker can't run in wind, and just a swing. We already have...Waste

Dinosaurs u can see at museum or Kings Island for extra five bucks....extra extra waste.

Is is me, or Cedar Point turning into a joke?

That past few years have been pretty much a failure for Cedar Point.

Because they're not building attractions that interest you?

I am disappointed that Cedar Point is no longer as much a thrill park as a family park. Sigh. Couldn't we get a nice thrill ride every other year?

Are you kidding? This makes CP LESS of a family park. Don't you get it?

Some families might enjoy it. But no thrill seekers will.

Please remain in your seat until the ride comes to a complete and final stop.

When I went to CP last there were a lot of teens. I really didn't even see kids. Maybe because it was Tuesday, but still. Planet and Camp snoopy rides weren't like even on. Terrible idea. If I wanted to see Dinosaurs I would go to a museum, not a THRILL PARK!!! I'm definetly not wasting time with CP next year. Canada's Wonderland here I come!! Now CP has competition I guarantee attendance will drop this year, unless economy go up. If its the same CP will go down unfortunetly

No because the rides they built were failures...

Shoot the rapids doesn't really have a lot of ridership unless its a hot day. And windseeker is always broken down. Even when windseeker is open, it doesn't have a lot of people in line waiting to ride it. They just aren't popular rides.

But then look at Skyhawk and max air. Those are very popular rides, and they have been since the day they opened. Max air always has people waiting outside the queue. And Skyhawk always seems to have a decent sized line also.

saying that the last few additions to the park have been failures may have been a little extreme. But the additions sure aren't all that great.

I don't actually care as much about a roller coaster as them adding some whole family rides. I was going through the list of rides that all my family members will ride together and other than tilt-a-whirl, the newest one is Disaster Transport. In that time, they've gotten rid multiple things we would all ride.

I haven't been back yet for Shoot the Rapids though (will be soon). How does it compare to White Water Landing? How wet do you get? How does it compare in height? I'm hoping this is something I could get everyone on as White Water Landing was something everyone enjoyed (even when cold).

I am hearing a lot of selfish complaining in the last 24 hours.. Seems to me a lot of people got quite spoiled when the started opening their pockets and putting rides in every year. Its not like this park needs a new coaster or crazy thrill ride every year there are 17 coasters and like 60 other rides at this park. How much more can you ask for?? Look back in time there are several times where they didnt put in an crazy new ride for a 5+ year stretch. And another point, dinosaurs alive is not a permanent attraction..

To the comment earlier about being a family instead of a trill park. That is not the approach Cedar Point is taking at all. Skywalk, Max-air, Windseeker, and I'm guessing Shoot the Rapids (haven't been on it yet) are not family rides. Dinsours might be for families, but it's an upcharge that only a certain percent of the park is willing to pay (we might have enjoyed it if it was free, but no way we are paying $5 per person for it).

A ride doesn't need two million riders a year to be a worthwhile addition.

A middle reliever isn't the same as an all-star, power hitting first basemen. But you need both to win the game.

actually, it had pretty much always been that wa which the exception of a few..

This upcoming year will be the 5th year without out a crazy new ride. I think that this is the reason for most of us being unhappy. And the fact that bringing dinosaurs to this park is just a flat out dumb idea.

Also, what is your source for Dinos not being permanent.

I get it. But I think that there could have been some better options that would have been able to attract more people. As for the dinosaurs, I'm not happy at all.

WHY DINOSAURS!!?!?!

The other thing that annoys me is talking about Dinosours like it's like most other additions to the park. If it were free, it would be and I might even have praise for it. When we have to pay a decent amount to get into it though, this is much less an addition to the park everyone can enjoy. $5 per person and most people who want to see it are going to see it are going to be brining mulitple people. That's starting to add a decent amount to the price. For people who refuse (like us), we know we are missing out which isn't one of the things that leave us with a more positive impression of the park.

Look. Im 21. I love thrills as much as anyone. But I'm almost done with college. A full time job is calling my name. Pretty soon, I may be getting married and starting a family. So when I have kids, am I still going to be focused on thrills? No I'm not. I'm going to be focused on my kids and doing things with them. And the truth is, there isnt much the entire family can do together.

One thing CP fans dont realize is how spoiled we are. How many other parks got as many coasters over the last 20 years as CP? I can think of 1. Over the last 20 years we have had nothing but thrill rides for the most part. There is nothing wrong with adding some more attractions the whole family can enjoy. The key word being enjoy. My two little cousins came from out of space and were bored out of their minds on PWE. As much as I think PWE was a good attraction, I cant help but feel the general public felt it was waste of space.

Thats the thing, CP is trying to make it family, but what is there a father and son can ride together?? There Dragster for dad son cant fit) Then planet snoopy (father cant fit)

What is there?? Oh yeah Dinosaurs alive.

Of course all the coaster fans want a coaster (me included) and it has been awhile. But I have read countless interviews and stories on how Cedar Point is was and will be the coaster capital again and how various higher ups confirm that. They say they realize the value of how attendance goes up for years after a new coaster is put in. How in park sales increase with attendance. How people buy food, shirts, play games etc. While I agree it is time for a new coaster and families need something to(which I have no problem with) There are a lot of thrill seekers who go to the point for the coasters. Hell I didnt even hear of CP until Millennium was built. Lived in Chicago at the time and saw it on a show and I was on the phone the next day to make reservations. I know and have heard of a lot of people going there for coasters only and for any park to not add new things that people are excited about will be bad for attendance. Shoot the rapids is a failure due to millions of dollars to build and small ridership.how many years can you go to the same park if as a thrill seeker you dont get any new rides you like (every year you would be a little less excited I would imagine)
