Who's telling anyone off?!?

I just made a quirky remark, which could have gone completely unnoticed. Except now its a much bigger deal than it should have been.

Way to fit in? Who's trying?

Where is the old Frontier Lift Station? Is it the building that now houses the museum, thats the only thing popping into my memory of having a good structure height over there

Nope - close though. It is the bathrooms in Frontier Land - big building right next to the Museum and directly in front of the exit ramp for CCMR.

Oh and CP will never remove CCMR - you can take that to the bank. *** Edited 8/9/2005 4:41:12 PM UTC by cyberdman***

Well, EVENTUALLY they will. Eventually they'll remove Magnum, Corkscrew, Raptor, and all the other coasters, too. Rides don't last forever.

I don't see it happening in the next few years, however.

My thought is still WWL being referred to as a "coaster."

The kids are convinced we're getting a new 500 footer coaster because they saw a couple lines of spray paint a few weeks ago.

I for one am very skeptical about them being for a coaster of any size, let alone a 500 footer. And there are more than just spray paint lines over by CCMR, but anyway...

My attempt to ask Tony and Tyler seems to have fallen through because I sent it in late last night, and it still hasn't shown up. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing that neon kitty (Wildcat) gone, because I can picture a nice Giant Inverted Top Spin in its place.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I think someone else got it close.

If I were Cedar Fair and I wanted to sell off an existing ride from an Ohio park, I know exactly which POS I'd put on the block:

Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall.

Someone mentioned Demon Drop...if Cedar Point were to remove Demon Drop, I'd think they'd send it to Geauga so that they could be rid of a major headache without losing an attraction.

Just idle speculation on my part, of course.

cedarpoint like's to keep a ride for 20-years before they sell one.since there markings around the mine ride,i would say mine ride.

20yrs? huh? Where did that logic come from?

I think the Demon Drop idea is a good one, but I don't like it. I'm still considering CCMR, due to to the unbelievably nonexistant lines it likes to have. WWL is obviously the second choice, like I said, because it would fit in with the new ride plans.

I'm still what most of you would consider a "young'n" and didn't get into coasters/CP seriously until about last year, thus I didn't notice a lot of the things we're speculating (in terms of the other rides that have gone down, looking for a pattern). Did things like the Swan Boats, Pirate Ride, Schwabinchen etc suffer from lack of popularity before they were scrapped, or was it something else? Maybe we're on the wrong tack here, about taking out unpopular rides...

I would hate to see Wildcat go. It's a great Schwarzkopf and one of only 3 in the United States. The Zyclones and Galaxys found at traveling carnivals don't even compare. Removing Wildcat would be a great loss for Ohio, especially if it were for a Huss Top Spin. Heck, I wouldn't even trade it for a spin mouse. Those things can be found everywhere.

As for DT, relocating it would be fairly easy once they got the building out of the way. Six Flags has had some pretty good luck relocating their Intamin Bobsleds. This one has been relocated twice and this one has been moved also.

I love Wildcat! I'd be very upset if they removed it. My vote still goes for Disaster Transport...the theming is non-existent, the ride itself is nothing special, and if you took away the air-conditioning hardly anyone would ride it.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

Moving WildCat would be a non-wise idea. I love it even though it's small and compact. The quick dives and sharp turns give me a feeling that no other coaster in the park can do. Like everyone has said, it is tucked nicely in a corner and doesn't take up any room.

I like Wildcat too. It's fun to ride and is great for beginners.

dj...you don't put bold in a post unless you want it to be noticed. You did that.

Michael, I appreciate the sentiment but please don't call me one of the OLDEST posters. I don't want Coasterbuzz to ignite my mid-life crisis.

Very few people would refer to Mr. Hyde as a rollercoaster...even the non-enthusiasts wouldn't call it that. And, I can't see a small, family park being that interested in a 1st generation free fall. If Mr Hyde is taken down I'm not sure it will ever be resurrected.

The Wild Cat is still a popular ride. However, I could see it being moved to somewhere else in the park. If the powers that be ever pull the trigger and demolish the Cedars Dorms (decades overdue) then relocating the Wild Cat would allow for a decent sized expansion area heading across Perimeter Road and over into the Marina area.

I'm not a fan of removing CCMR because I like the idea of a few "family" coasters being in the park (ala Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport). I don't think it would be necessary either. However, removing it would make room for either a water coaster that interacts with to other water rides or even expansion of Camp Snoopy from the other direction. The wet/dry slides come in a kiddie version that might fit well in Camp Snoopy and could tie in with a new water attraction from the Frontierland side.

Of course, I'm just stabbing in the dark here.

I think some of you are giving those involved in the news article too little credit. I know that often times they screw up the details in these stories (I/E CP isn't in Cleveland) but I think they know what is and isn't a coaster.

I was looking at the El Paso park's map and they already have a ride like WWL, and their new ride for this year was a drop ride. And their lone coaster is rather similar to Wildcat too.

I think looking to non-coaster rides is looking too much into it. Granted they could double up with a type of attraction, but this park looks like it is ready to grow by adding a bigger coaster.

If they remove Demon Drop I will handcuff myself to it. DD is one of the few rides left at CP that scares me a little. Mainly because of how old and squeaky it is.

Also CCMR shouldn't be removed it has one of the best locations in the park.

I'm curious about what cyberdman said about CCMR not going anywhere... he said "take it to the bank", and while I don't necessarily think CCMR will go anywhere, I'm just wondering (since I'm a newb here) what he might be basing this on.
