A coaster on the beach in place of Disaster would be brilliant but I'm curious what the noise would be like for some of the chausee homes. I have often wondered if part of the reason that Avalanche Run became Disaster Transport is that Mrs. Kinzel didn't like hearing the coaster all day long. :-)
Oh, and coasterguy...I won't be called a hillbilly again. Got it? I will refrain from responding to your political dribble but I won't have you messing with country music...which, at the very least IS music and you can't say that about much you hear on the radio today.
Oh...and country women? There is no comparison.

I hope they don't take out MS because I kinda like that ride. If they are going to get rid of a coaster they should get rid of DT so we can stop saying that this is one of the worst themed rides. We would be missing the A/C on 90degree summer days though.
With regard to Mine Ride...
Didn't the park just replace all the lumber on that ride, just as they did with Gemini?
This isn't Kings Island, where the last ride painted is the first to go...Cedar Point plans their park improvements well in advance, and I don't think they would be sinking serious money into a ride they are about to remove.

Mean Streak is one of the most visually impressive rides at the park, especially at night. Its also one of the best rides there.
The drawback for Disaster Transport is the building. With the re-invigoration of that part of the park, the building really needs to go. Disaster Transport is a fun ride that suffers from location. As an open air ride (Avalanche Run) the beach-side location caused the trough to collect sand, an oversight that was suprisingly made by Intamin engineers (ok, so maybe its not so suprising). The only option at the time with such a new ride was to cover it and put in a really cool theme.
The theme has become dilapidated over the years and I think its time for Avalanche Run to seek a new home on the West Coast (of Michigan).

"coasterguy76, as stated before, keep the ignorant political rants off the boards."
So, am I to assume that intelligent political rants are ok?
Oh, somebody was called a hillbilly. Poor baby! Try being from West Virginia where it is assumed that you live in a trailer, collect unemployment, don't have all your teeth, and don't own shoes. And for the record, country music sucks.
Disaster Transport is the only coaster that I truly believe would be removed. None other makes sense to me.
Well, actually there was a study released recently that showed people in West Virgina, on average, have fewer teeth than in any other state. So the assumption is actually based in fact.
And while I do agree with you on the country music thing, just don't listen to it. Noone is making you.
While there have been issues with which I don't agree with Bush, as it pertains to these boards, who the **** cares. This is a board for Cedar Point, not for BushBashers.com (which somehow links directly to the Democratic Party's website). So lets keep the discussion on Cedar Point.
I do agree with you though that the only coaster that could be removed (from a fiscal standpoint) would be DT. They have recently invested money in Wildcat (painted) and CCMR (wood replacement). I could also see WWL being removed, but only so it could be replaced by an up-to-date flume ride. Like I said in another thread, remove WWL and build a coaster/flume combo that has the coaster weaving in and around the flume structure.

There is a new country song called "Arlington" that was the first song in a long time that made me cry. Not sure who sings it.
I didn't enjoy country music before but when the one station I enjoyed changed formats to hip hop/gangsta/slap your ho and kill the cops type music I wasn't left with much of an alternative. So, country it is. If I can't understand the lyrics enough to sing along then I just don't have the patience for it.
I personally like Disaster Transport for what it is but I have a problem with one of the prime pieces of real estate and that wonderful view being blocked by that ugly building. A twister on the beach would be beautiful.

Guess that narrows things down to Geauga Lake, or at least narrows our guessing down to Geauga Lake.

Blues and the Beatles. It'll change your life :) .Also, though I don't like the majority, there is some good country. For example, Johnny Cash was the man. Loretta Lynn is pretty darn good too. Bob Dylan released an album called Nashville City Skyline which has alot of country, and its amazing. Theres this band around today called Blanche that has a country/dark rock vibe to them. Very good stuff out there.
Jumbo Jet is the only coaster CP has ever sold to another park. The first WildCat was given to ValleyFair.

Juggalotus, interesting fact about teeth and West V.
Well, guess since it's not a coaster at CP, which one at GL. I've heard some say double looper.
I wouldn't be shocked if something was still sold. CP has stretched the truth before and they might be stretching it again. I mean, think of how often new rides have been denied and then show up at the park next year. It's not good having rumors around the internet that you'll selling your coasters, but if you sell DT and then throw a new woodie in it's place, who'll complain?
"Officially", my house is not for sale but if someone offered the right price....
I agree with others in that the statement does not preclude Geauga Lake from the speculation and if I was a betting man I'd go for the boomerang.

Plus. . .don't rule out the fact that just because a coaster is "for sale," doesn't mean there is a buyer for it.
Who is to say that this coaster hasn't been "for sale" for years. . .with no buyers?
It very well COULD be Disaster Transport. . .they already have it all boxed up. : )
But seriously. . .just because this is the first time the public heard about it. . .doesn't mean it's a recent change. It might have been the situation for years.
So. . .you don't necessarily have grounds to assume something is 'on the chopping block' or up for imminent removal.
Well, perhaps DT was for sale, but the ranchers from Mexico, er - I mean Texas bought it already... so now CP doesn't have any coasters for sale...
So, they used to have a coaster for sale, but not anymore!!!
Just a thought...
Brandon
Good point. If that is the case, think they would put a SOLD sign near the ride? And if they did sell DT we really won't know until the big ugly storage closet is gone. Taking its contents with it.
LOL! I just had a thought. What if someone bought/were to buy the interior coaster but say "yeah um.. you keep the box." I dont know about the rest of you but I find that funny.
