CP coaster for sale?

I know this was posted over on Coasterbuzz but I couldn't find any topic about it here..

This article states that an exec from El Paso was at Cp looking at the coaster including one that is for sale? What exactly does this mean? Is it one of the current coasters? Or does Cp have one on storage?

Or am I reading this article totally wrong, and its not a CP coaster for sale?

I have a feeling that coaster has a big 12-E on the side of it...

Yay they're selling Dragster!

I found the article this morning, but was trying to get more information before posting.

Remember that newspaper reporting isn't always that accurate, especially in this industry. For all we know, he could mean Geauga Lake.

Nevertheless, this could be a major story.

Is that what the something or nothing moderators thread is? ;)

Holy crap, this would be bigger than when PKI did the back-door selling of King Kobra.

This could be very interesting!

Why would anyone buy DT?

Well, considering the CP that the El Paso execs visited was moved 63 miles east, who knows. The reporter may have confused Geauga with Cedar Point.

Besides, I hope Avalanche Run stays in the family and gets handed down to the little sister in Muskegon.

So, obviously DT would be a likely candidate, but what other coasters might be on the chopping block?

- Iron Dragon?

- Corkscrew?

- Junior Gemini? ;)

I personally don't want DT moved to Muskegon. *shudder* Why ruin the aesthetic value of that park with that ugly atrocious building?

Corkscrew is a CP landmark. I don't see it going anywhere. Maybe ID but once again doubtful.

Hopefully, they wouldn't be moving the building with it, hence the reason I had referred to it as Avalanche Run.

Iron Dragon is too tied into the landscape, I don't think it could be made to fit any where else without a massive rework of the supports.

The only other one that I think would be transportable is the original transportable - WildCat.

I can't picture a park without any of these though, and if they are pulled out, I would rather see them stay within the "family".

If true there are only a few coasters I could see it being.

* Disaster Transport- We already know that Kinzel himself considered it a mistake. It's on a good chunk of real estate that could be more happily occupied by something that's more well received by park guests.

* CCMR- Now, I don't advocate removing it, but if the murmurs of Frontier Town expansion plans are true, it may be a victim (doubtful, but possible).

* Mean Streak- I can only hope. ;)

Let's discuss what the article said, vs. what it could mean. Could "roller coaster" mean "Arrow log flume?"

Could "Cedar Point in Cleveland" mean "Geauga Lake in Cleveland?" It wouldn't be the first time the two parks were confused- heck it even happened when it was SFWoA.

Chew on *that* one.

[edit, since jugga posted while I was posting]
I don't se what CP could gain from selling Wildcat. It occupies almost zero real estate compared to, well, everything else in the park. Unless it's being a pain in the ass to maintain (doubtful) I don't see why the park would leave themselves with that space which is too big for a small flat and too small for anything else.

Bholcomb they wouldn't have to put it in a building. This is an interesting tidbit of information whatever the outcome may be.

John,
I threw that out there because it's really the only coaster (other than DT) that I can see being easily removed and set up at another park. Look at all the other coasters, either their size is prohibitive for a move or their interaction with the landscape prohibits it.

I agree with you that WC would be a very unlikely victim for removal due to its size and location, however of all the coasters at the point, it would definitely be among the easiest to remove and transport to another park (heck, I think McDonnoughs has one that they use for carnivals).

I like the suggestion of the "coaster" being WWL. That would definitely clear up some space in FT, and would be the next likeliest candidate behind DT & ID... (imo)

MS, on the other hand, would not be very transportable, at least it would seem like its not a great investment for a "new" amusement park...
