CP coaster for sale?

I don't know if Cedar Point would sell Cedar Creek Mine Ride due to the fact that it blends in so well with Cedar Point. I mean get the name....CEDAR CREEK MINE RIDE! If you sell it to El Paso what are you going to call it down there? El Paso Mine Ride?

Would it not be Extremely expensive to move all that wood? I would think that a park wanting a wood structure coaster would just build a new one. Especially since the mine ride is old and out of date. I say DT because I have heard 2 seperate conversations with employees at the park talking of a flyer up by the employee parking lot near DT.. Maybe they will do two coasters.. one up front and one in the back.. Why would they want to loose a coaster in their precious coaster count... I don't understand that.. Dueling would make that number up though...Does any of this make sense to anyone else...It's late Im going to bed,,, heheh

The last few times I have been to the park DT has had a 45 min wait. Why would they get rid of it if it's still popular?

Personally, I think the Mayor is in fact talking about Cedar Point. For the people farmiliar with CP, we all know that the park is in Sandusky. For the average person though, most don't know where Sandusky is. In Texas, many don't know where Sandusky is vs. Cleveland. Even if CP is the park, which I think it is, the Mayor might mean WWL, or some other ride because some non coaster smart people might look upon many tipes of rides, such as a log ride, as coasters. After saying that I think CP is the park in question, I have also heard many, many people refer to CP as the owner of GL and all of the other CF properties so that might bring GL back into play.

No because dueling coasters arn't typicaly counted as 2 coasters. An example would be Batman and Robin: The Chiller SFGA.

Just as Racers (Gemini) are not considered 2 coasters.

I still think that it is Geauga Lake. If it really is Cedar Point, I belive that it would be CCMR or WWL. I hope not CCMR, because my nephew is just about tall enough to be able to ride coasters, and CCMR would be one of the first he would be willing to ride. At 6 years old, I don't think he will be ready to ride coasters such as Mag, MF, BS, MS, or CS. He isn't quite 46" tall yet and has only been on JrG and WE.

CCMR is a good starter coaster for up and coming enthusiasts and although some people might not miss it, I would.

Because it's not as popular at the end of the ride. ;) *** Edited 8/9/2005 1:51:08 PM UTC by Cedar Dan***

Not according to RCDB. RCDB lists it as one ride, but gives stats for both sides since they are different.

Here's what I think. If the RC being removed is at CP it's DT(It would be sad to see it go though) and if it's at GL, no question about it, Double Loop. Oh and

That is my guess also WT90. Double Loop at GL.

At Geauga Lake I'd rather see Thunderhawk removed. That ride is such a crappy invert. It'd be great if they removed it and replaced it with a B&M invert. I know it's not gonna happen, but its wishfull thinking.

Dueling Dragons would be the closest thing comparable to dueling flyers, and for all practical purposes, they are considered two coasters. The only thing shared by both sides is the station and lift, from there it's a completely different ride for each side.

I think the key factor is if each side's layout is radically different and not mirrored. The park would market the ride as they wanted, and they would want it to be considered two coasters.

And as for DT having a 45 minute wait...That's not the only deciding factor about the popularity of the ride. Every time I've been there this season they had two of the five trains sitting out on the transfer track. That means there were only moving a max of 30 people every cycle. Popular ride or horrible capacity ride?

Honestly? If the article does indeed speak of Cedar Point removing a ride. . .

. . .my best guess is Demon Drop.

First of all. . .look at the area around it. EVERYTHING ELSE IS GONE.

Second. . .I KNOW they are different ride experiences, but there is another "drop ride," Power Tower.

Third. . .Demon Drop is a headache. . .closes down at one drop of rain -- not to mention its age.

Personally, I would not LIKE to see Demon Drop go. It is a fun ride that I go on most every time I visit the park. I like the way it looks on the skyline, and I like the sound it makes, too. But. . .If I had to guess a "major ride/rollercoaster," I would say Demon Drop is for sale.

I'm leaning toward Mine Ride for a number of reasons. The largest being that I've been thinking about an interactive water coaster for a number of years that would travel through the Frontier Town area and interact with Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon. I think that area, while fun now, would come alive for both riders and non-riders alike.

If they got really aggressive you could throw some wet/dry slides back in there that have proven popular at other parks. I know ValleyFair has a pair.

It would seem, at least from the park's perspective, that they would rather get rid of something that takes up more space than some of the mentioned rides above.

For instance, they're not gonna sell WildCat, because there's not much reason to sell it (can't fetch much $$, and has a very small footprint), and you can find those rides ALL over the world - there's no way someone would come from Texas (a.k.a. "The Land that gave us the HORRIBLE Bush) just to buy WildCat.

As for Demon Drop... I could see why someone might want to buy it, but I really don't see a benefit from CP's perspective, cause it takes up very little room.

Just my $0.02...

dj...there are plenty of sites for politics. This isn't one of them.

Relax - its called humor...

No need to get your feathers ruffled over that.

Chief, are you thinking something along the lines of a Roller Soaker?

With the removal of the Swan Boats, I could see it sprawling out over SRF and Thunder Canyon, flying over to the old Swan Boats pond and going through a few relatively intense elements, then jumping the bridge into the Snake River Falls pond, and returning to its station.

But would it really be necessary to remove CCMR? They could put enough of its layout elsewhere, so all they would need to make room for is the station and some queue area. It would seem that they could built all of this into the interior of CCMR where all that un-used space is.

There is also the possibility of them rennovating the old Frontier Lift Station into the station for it, although they would have to find another place to store all the stuff that is up there.

They could also put it's station in the old Swan Boat pond and have the ride fly over TC and SRF with some intense elements in Snake River Fall's pond.

I just don't see the need for them to take CCMR if there were to build something like this.

It's only humor if you think it is funny. The Dixie Chicks though it was funny...until their record sales plummeted, they were booed in front of audiences, and they dropped out of the ratings, and had to offer up apologies in order to win back some fans.

It's been about four to five weeks since I've been to the park so I'm having a hard time visualizng this: Where is the old Frontier Lift Station? Is it the building that now houses the museum, thats the only thing popping into my memory of having a good structure height over there
