coaster final height

Remember this...S:TE has the capacity to go much higher than it is currently going...If SFMM wanted to they could crank that thing up to very close the maxium drop level equivalent to what it was doing its first year.....If CP is looking for the record they should build higher than the structure(S:TE) to guarantee the record...However, I heard SFMM was going to add to the height of the structure so they can maintain the record....Just kidding....

Do you guys even remember when Superman was built? They spent months upon months trying to make it work. If it doesn't go higher maybe it's because they grossly miscalculated the amount of runway needed to get it up that high.

I understand the weight of the ride vehicle on Superman:TE is monstrous. Maybe they couldn't propel the weight with enough energy to get it any higher.
Yes they are adding on today Tues, but you guys with the name game of Draster etc. Maybe CP is letting us know a hint of this rides new name.
Either that or we are being taking over by spiders.

You just posted an intranet address. No one will ever see that.

This debate on which way the twist will be on the way up is pointless... we are all thinking the same thing, we're just using different frames of reference. We know the top hat won't be inverted, we know that the launch side will be on the "right" side of the tower (if you are looking from the front of the park), and we are all talking about a 90 degree twist on the way up (like Xcelerator). Therefore, the train would end up on the "right" side (the out side) of the track after the 90 degree twist. Think Xcelerator, but just switch the sides of the pullup and pullout.

Or you could just refer to that video that was posted a little while back... I think that is what Ryan is describing.

Majin - Very well put.

If everyone would just put themselves in the frame of reference where you are "in" the train when discussing "left" or "right", etc, then it wouldn't be so confusing.

This is the picture that shows how the track
will travel.

As you can see, the left side has a much more substantial twist that the right (launch) side.

As the trains twist up the launch side, the bottom of the train will start pointing north, and end up pointing east, towards MF. This is why Ryan said it would twist left.

On the down side, it will start pointing east, and end up pointing south, so it twists right 270 degrees. There are many ways to conceptualize the ride and how it turns, so as said before, it's all about what your reference point is.

Does anyone else think it's going to be sweet looking down 100 feet at MF?

Yet another ride I can look down from and see if my boat is still floating at the marina! Marina Entrance.... The only way to fly!

CP Bound - Didn't you mean, the bottom of the train will start pointing north, and end up pointing WEST ...

Just seeing if you guys were paying attention...;)

Yeah, start north, end up west.

It ends up pointing DOWN!!

Okay, yes, south, but DOWN!!

This may sound really stupid but its bothering me. I was looking at Xcelerators pictures and when it goes into the twists, the supports stop but #16 has already started the twist and they are still putting more supports on. and i also noticed that it looks like this might be the top right here since there is only the one support going up in the middle to hold the top piece up if you look at this picture. I might just be really dumb but i would like it if someone explained this to me thanks.

edit: i dont know how to work the link thing so if it doesnt work sorrry the page is: http://www.cpthrillology.com/images/16causeway.jpg

Why not just explain the twist in terms of clockwise and counter-clockwise?
Explaining it in those terms is relative to what reference you are talking about. This is what caused people to say that the turned different directions in the first place.

Try these numbers:

Xcelerator 82 mph to reach 205 feet. Project 2003 140 mph + to reach 400 + feet.

C'mon 140 mph in an open car prevents it's passengers from breathing. My feeling is 100mph to 325 feet. I've been on Superman TE and the height is 400 but the car only goes about 3/4 up or 300 feet in a car that 2 tons. If CP pulls off 400 feet it would be a physics mystery. Just an opinion. Try to remember the trains will be similiar to the kind on MF and MF trains have an empty weight of 9 tons.

If you knew enough about physics, then you would know that it only takes a little less than 110 mph to get to 400 ft.
The tower height right now is around 325 ft. Since the launch will end at around 50 feet high, the launch will only need to be around 110-120+mph to get over the top of 400+ at around 10 mph.

Actually, MF's trains are 28 tons empty...roughly 3 tons for all cars but the front car, which is around 4 tons with the extra wheel assembly. This was stright from the head of Intamin back in the Q&A at CoasterMania.

Hey, does anybody realize that right now the coaster is currently the tallest coaster in the world? It's certainly past SD2K height. Of course, it isn't operating, nor is it finished, but I just thought it is an interesting fact that nobody has really pointed out.

Gerg, great picture. You really get a feeling of how high this sucker really is.
