as well as comfortable over-the-shoulder restraints
By comfortable, do they mean how it crushes my chest?

I'm 80% sure, based on renderings, that the spacing is simply due to the front car having the seats in the middle, while the 2nd and 3rd have the seats at the back of the cars. Watch the birds-eye pov video to see what I mean. You can tell where the joints are between cars.

I've never had that problem with any of these restraints. I've been on Wild Eagle, Banshee, and GateKeeper and its never crushed my chest or even came close.
On Gatekeeper, the original configuration of the restraints would cause the vest to ratchet down during the ride, resulting in considerable discomfort sometimes as it became too tight. They adjusted that to allow movement of the vest and it no longer ratchets down. I think the restraints are perfect now, no discomfort and no head banging.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
They fixed that? I had no idea...

I still prefer the aesthetic look of the old restraints

"Oh this one thing I as complaining about was fixed... let's see what else I can come up with to complain about..."

You're entitled to your opinion. I prefer the newer OTSRs that are a lot more open, both when on the ride and off.
I like the openess of the vest restraints as well, I just think the old ones look prettier

These vest restraint help out so much for me. I'm 6'2" and every coaster that has an OTSR (except Maverick) digs in to my shoulders hard. The vests may be tight but the are such a blessing compared to the others.
Rougarou and Raptor both tend to dig in to my shoulders, though not nearly as bad as the Arrow OTSRs. I cant ride Corkscrew anymore because of them.
I have issues with Rougarou's OTSRs... when I get stuck in the middle seats and end up next to someone who doesn't believe in hygiene. Or deodorant. The ride becomes 2 minutes of smelly torture. Having the vest restraints on Valravn should (hopefully) allow for more space...

Why not just wait for the next train and get an outside seat? You don't have to board with strangers and get stuck in a middle seat.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Or let people go in front of you so you can take an outside seat, or just go straight to the outside seat on the left side of the train, or..
Or ask the riders in your row if you can sit on the end. It's really the same situation as Raptor and Rougarou, just with twice the seats.
