OMG, Thank you! Someone finally standing up to noggin for his line by line critiques. I've been seeing his condescending (and somewhat demeaning) replies for years but never said anything, and mainly because I was scared he'd break down my reply. Let's see if it happens here!
Serious question: if you've been finding my posts condescending, that means you've been reading them. Why do you continue to read them if they're so unsettling for you? There are several people whose posts I just scroll on by rather than read.
Because that's not how it works.
Pipe Scream is getting disrespected left and right. First it didn't get the special treatment of GateKeeper, Top Thrill Dragster, MIllennium Force, or Magnum in that video, and now I forgot about it.
Per conversation a page or so back, there is no way a ride could fit where Dino Island is. Not enough space, especially with MF in the way. I say they scrap Dino's and bring Paddlewheel back! I would be cool with that.
Back to Valravn, anyone else thinking that they will only want to sit in the first two rows? Third row on the first drop will never be near as intense.

Same reason you chose to read the posts you don't agree with, only to break them apart line by line and tear the poster a new one. All I'm saying is that you don't have to be such an a** when you reply to someone you don't agree with, and 90% of the time it just seems like it's for the sake of arguing.
Healthy debate can be fun and interesting, but what you do is not, and it doesn't really offer much to this community. And I sincerely hope you don't treat people like this in society either.

I'll play Pipe Scream an epic flute solo the next time I visit.

[...] And it doesn't do anything the best.
It has the potential to give you the best photo op... er... view of the park from the Marina Gate.
Besides, this is such a subjective comment to bring up. Based purely on percentages, there will be at least ONE person that thinks Valravn is the "best" ride ever. So to that person, it definitely does something "the best."

I dont agree with that, I think the front or the back. The front to have the full effect of the holding brake and the back for the best airtime getting pulled over the drop, at lest thats how i felt when I went on Griffen.
My Top 10- 1.Steel Vengeance 2.Fury 325. 3.Maverick 4. EL Toro 5. Millennium Force 6. Wicked Cyclone 7. Intimidator 305 8. Thunderhead 9.Boulder Dash 10. Diamondback 11. Lightning Rod
I agree with many on here that say the addition just doesn't make sense in light of what leaders in the company keep saying in interviews ---- that there is a significant hole in the attraction line up in regards to families. Am I the only one that would've rather seen a Firechaser Express (Dollywood) type roller coaster built in this area?
I also call BS that this coaster is the direct result of data analysis and market research. This addition is the same, repeated formula they've used since 1989. There is nothing "research based" in this addition except from the proven results they've seen before. Will they see a 3% surge in attendance?? Sure they will. Quit asking the teenage guests what they want. Venture out of the park and ask people who ARENT coming to the park why they aren't coming.
I argue that building a family coaster and marketing it well could maybe see a 5 or 10%
increase in attendance. Instead of spending $3 million on family attractions (Pipe Scream, etc). What if they spent the $20 million on a family attraction?
I also wish they would build something in these "plazas" for younger kids to do. Big circles of concrete do not excite. If they took a tip from Dollywood and added a playground where one of the big circles of concrete are, I'd be excited. Young kids can play on the playground while the bigger kids ride. Win win.
And before my head is bitten off for "being selfish" and "whiny" and "clueless" hear this: I am a parent of two young kids- I make six figures and I want a reason to spend money in the park I grew up loving. I blew several thousand on my trip in June to Breakers and would love to spend more... But traveling with my family to other parks I see things done differently and I just wish the park would take a tip from some of these simple concepts that I think would really set it apart. Do they have the best collection of coasters- absolutely! But they are seriously lacking in other areas and yet again $20 million is about to be spent on more of what they already have.
CP really is a thrill park. Not like Disney. My younger cousins who are around 7 and 11 go there for the huge rides; they won't touch the smaller stuff. Everyone knows it for Millennium and Dragster and Maverick and Rougarou. That is their target market, is has been for decades. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Cedar Point (to me) is a park that attracts out-of-state visitors for the intense roller coasters; while attracting local residents for both roller coasters and family rides.

Ride Warrior
^^Well considering that the park has stated multiple times that CP is for the whole family, I think you're wrong.
1999: First visit
Halloweekends- Harvest Fear, Tombstone Terror-Tory
Ride Operations- Professor Delbert’s Frontier Fling
I keep looking at that picture of the raven at the very beginning of this topic and on the Cedar Point website, and I am starting to want a crown like that! Wanted a tiara in my younger days, but now I am wanting that crown. Someone be sure to tell us if it shows up in the souvenir shops.

I assume you have seen their research to make such a statement.

I would like to see your hard data that supports your conclusion of investing $20 million on a family attraction would return an attendance increase of 5-10%. Maybe you should share that with the park?
Clearly Cedar Fair's Funforward 2.0 strategy isnt working considering they continue to set record revenue and attendance marks.

Not to shoot anyone down on here, but with the addition of Valravn, where would you put a wooden roller coaster? If they do go that route, I see them messing with Mean Streak first rather than build from the ground up.
In place of Shoot the Rapids when they remove it ;)
Today, I jokingly asked Tony about an above ground tunnel, and he jokingly said they will go down to the local Menard's and get blue tarps if it would make the ride experience that much better.

The social media vending machine at Valravn Preview Center is really cool. I won a Valravn poster, but my friend won a Halloweekends ticket. I'm assuming this (the social media campaign and in-park advertising) is what Tony and Jason were referring to during that Periscope a couple months ago when they said we are going to see things that they've never done before (with a ride announcement).
