There will be plenty of wood in the station. Not to mention the tunnel........that is unless tradition holds and it ends up being a no show. :)

Speaking of lots of wood, it looks like the station is starting to come along. Floor and sides are being beefed up a little bit. I wonder what the time table is for completing it.
That's funny. It looks like they are starting to dig the flume portion that busts a 180 out of the station before the first lift hill. This sucker is flying together.
I think in the next month we will see a lot of progress. The steel erection seems to have really limited the flume constuction on the mainland. With that done and the bigger crane out of the way, things should really pick up. At least with the sun out and the snow melting a little, it "looks" like a nicer place to work....
Gotta love it when a plan comes together! (I should lay off the A-Team re-runs).

I've got mixed emotions on that one...if Liam Neeson is half as good in that as he was in Taken, then I will be happy. Not too crazy about Rampage as B.A., but I guess that is better than Shaq, which was rumored for a bit.
Nick
Liam Neeson is good at anything. I couldnt think of anyone better to play the part of Zeus is the new Clash of the Titans better than Liam Neeson! :)

I wonder how far away cedar point is from being able to stream live jpeg images. You see TMZ doing it all the time and now, even SeaWorld is getting in on the action: http://www.seaworld.com/sitepage.aspx?PageID=618
Would make watching the construction a lot more enjoyable, not to mention the park/coasters in action.
I'd prefer higher-res images every minute over crappy, low-res streams, personally. Especially when it comes to construction, since the pace of what they do is relatively slow.
Brandon
I would prefer streaming either way. Especially for the park cams, add one on a ride like MaXair, leave Pagoda up and it would be very enjoyable to watch. Construction, yeah I guess I see your point, but the resolution isn't great either way, so streaming, IMO, would be tremendously better.
...not many forms of advertisement are. Surprising, even for you, that you're so against streaming video. I think it's a question of when, not if, anyways.
Sea World's webcam is so you can see whales kill some more people. ;)
But that's neither here nor there.
The web cams aren't really advertising, per se. If you're already on the CP.com site, are the cams going to make-or-break your decision to visit? I'd argue that for 90+% of non-enthusiast CP.com visitors, the answer is an emphatic "no".
I'm not against streaming video where it makes sense. In this case, I don't think it does. The Intimidator 305 site has a streaming cam, and it looks absolutely awful compared to what CP is doing. Seems to me that it's a trade off between streaming and image quality.
And of course bandwidth issues will eventually become moot. But until then, I'd prefer getting nice, clear images every minute over this crap.
ADDED: Actually, it appears I was wrong about PKD's web cam. It's not streaming, so far as I can tell. Further evidence that you should just be happy with the comparatively awesome CP cams. :)
Brandon
I agree that intimidator cam looks awful but it's not really what I'm talking about. I'm talking much more zoomed in, like pagoda or on a small ride like MaXair.
And even as a CP fanatic, I would rather watch that penguin cam (which I couldn't care less about pengiuns) than the pagoda came, even with a full park. A streaming pagoda and ride came would make me yearn to get back to the park more IMO. It's like a live youtube video all day.
You just made my point for me. You (an enthusiast/season pass holder) want streaming CP video. But guess what? The park already has your attention, and your money. What does CP gain by giving you streaming video?
Do you honestly think a streaming cam is going to be something that gets John Q Public's family to the park? I find that extremely unlikely. I'd much rather see CP spend money on their actual deficiencies.
I'm no Luddite. I'd love a dozen or more hi-def streaming cams all around every park, if it were feasible. But I'm not sure it is.
Brandon
I don't know how I made your point. I said it would make me yearn to go more, as in "man I need to get back there this weekend and not wait until next month" and maybe turn 4 trips for the year into 5 or 6. Also I sent a buddy of mine (the hypothetical John Q) the link to the CP cams for the STR construction and all he said was "why isn't it streaming?" and wrote it off.
Under your theory, heck, why even have a website? or this forum? anyone who is participating is obviously already hooked on the park, screw them out of anything enjoyable.
OK, so you're using your season pass 6 times this year instead of 4. Explain to me again how that means CP is going to make more money off you? In a sense, they're actually losing money on you, since they'd make more off a non-passholder family, and you both use the same resources while on-Point.
And sorry, but your buddy is hardly indicative of CP's audience at large.
Are you really comparing the lack of streaming video to not having a web site? Really?
Brandon
What a lively discussion. :)
However, I'll step in and mention why we don't stream video. At this stage in the game, we've had numerous offers by companies and their streaming services. What you may or may not know is, these companies charge and arm-and-a-leg to even stream on THEIR servers, let alone ours.
Not to mention, there are "maintenance fees" that they will charge just to have your video there each month.
Trust me - I want to broadcast live video for everyone to see, using a camera we can move freely. But we have not yet found the right (or cost-effective) means to do it.
StarDot has consistently provided clear images and my hat is off to them for helping us bring you a "quality" image of the park. We've come a long way since the first webcams we've had.
