Thanks for the explanation Tony. I guess it's like anything, you give an inch and all you get back is requests for a foot :)
What exactly is in the center-bottom of the webcam? Is that the station or the tunnel?

It's the station. You enter on a ramp on the left, then exit on a ramp on the right.

I agree with dj about the point of having live streaming cams at this point in time. Solely to please a relatively small group of fans who are already given enough in terms of in park benefits?
Be thankful for what we get and the lengths that Bryan, Tony and the whole Marketing Dept goes to honor us as fans....including actually trying to get live streaming cams.
Speaking of which, thanks for taking time in your busy New York trip to chime in on us Tony. ;) Matt Lauer sure seemed to be in a hurry leaving you little time to get a word in. :)

Looks like they are installing the station boat track.
I'm curious to see what the mechanical system will be inside the station for load/unload. Maybe three belts - one for unload, one for staging, one for load. Maybe chains if what I see is really track.
Also curious where the boats will be stored when the ride is closed. On the old STR, we had to remove them using a crane each night and store them on the unload platforms. Amazing how fast that could be done if you wanted to catch the last train out of Frontiertown.
Is there going to be anything in the tunnel? Or is that a surprise...or unknown at this time?

I think that's going to be one of the opportunities for the ride to really shine. A tunnel right off the bat with some sound effects/gun fire and a crazy old cowboy warning you about the trouble ahead...
I'm hoping that they go all out with theming, such as mist, lighting effects, water bombs, waterfalls, etc., but at the same time, I hope there's nothing too literal, like animatronics or recorded spoken dialogue. That's the sort of thing that wears very thin on me on repeat rides.
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.
That would be neat having theming. Plus that would make Shoot the rapids the second ride in 3 years to have theming behind Maverick.
I know the animation doesn't mean much, but the tunnel seemed really small. It seemed like you were only in there 5 to 10 seconds. Unless its longer in real life how would it be exciting?
Let's Get Weird.
Getting more excited to see this come to completion as we draw closer to opening day. A few observations...
1) What is that footbridge leading to/coming from that is partially constructed? It's not on the computer rendering. On the webcam you can see it under the second hill.
2) I like how the queue is going to hug the water....and the exit ramp will be over the water. Nice little touches.
3) A question...will they line the earth with anything before filling it with water? For example...the area that will be underwater where the exit walk-ramp for the ride is.

1) The bridge is for employees to get to the island when necessary.

as for lining the earth, yes ...it will be lined with concrete just like the others side...which is almost complete.
I am assuming to backfill the area between the retaining wall, the large footer and the station wall that is now cut off by an alternate route
As well to fill in low spots to make everything to grade. If you don't know what that means, it means to make everything look level with the surrounding ground. :)
