Cedar Point Announces New Water Ride for 2010 Season

I'm all in for a true family attraction, that's just what the park needs (in my opinion). Even though I don't usually ride the water attractions, we'll test this one out for sure. Now... if they will just get rid of the unfamily friendly tees they are selling that say "I kissed a girl and I liked it" How do you explain that one to your kids?

Because it was a 22 year old ride that was a maintenance nightmare. The costs of operating WWL outweighed the benefit of putting in Maverick. Now they have a bright shiny new one that should last them at least 20 years, if not longer.

Not to mention, an amusement park shouldn't be able to call itself an amusement park without a flume ride. Its one of those staples that goes with a tilt-a-whirl, a ferris wheel and a wild mouse.

As for getting sick, I don't go around running my hands over the railings and then sucking my fingers. Wash your hands regularly and you don't have to worry, regardless of if a little water splashed on you.

Well Thay Made it really Clear to All of us during the Coaster wars thay always had to have the biggest and fastest and be #1 in the world or at least in the USA so i would not expect nothing less from them.Thats the way thay show them selves and make themselves out to be am i right?
There always featured in all these specials on the travel channel and discovery channel and stuff like that and thay claim to be Americas Roller Coast!!!
So What am I led to believe?

Except the coaster wars are over. Build it and they will come doesn't work like it used to.

I don't know about all of you but I for one am really excited! Its like a cross between WWL, SRF, and a Roller Coaster. I cant wait to ride it!

I'll save my excitement for when they release the height requirements. I hate to get my 41'' tall four-year old excited about the new ride if he's not going to be able to ride it. We'll see how much he grows this year!

no, but they don't need water rides either. Cedar point already has soak city and two water rides. Now they just combined the two they had together into one. So what's the point of having SRF and T.C. now? To answer the question, no cedar point should not build just roller coasters (look at maxair and sky hawk). Cedar Point could use another good flat ride or two go go with a new woodie. again, like what eric said, this ride is a complete waste of money.

While I said I was disappointed, my world doesn't end because CP didn't get a new coaster this year. This isn't the last year for them to build things, so there's 2011, 2012, etc. to look forward to for any future coasters. Depends on the wet factor, but even if I only ride StR once, there's still plenty in the park to keep me occupied. I won't be disappointed by CP overall, ever. Some peeps need to relax and wait till the ride is up & running and THEN continue the freak out

Ty...with your logic on water rides Cedar Point should never have built another coaster after Raptor. By then they had tall, wooden, kiddie and inverted coasters, not to mention an indoor coaster. They had enough, right? No need for MF, Dragster, Mantis, etc.

I'm with Muncie though...the height limit will really determine if this is the "family ride" they are touting it to be.

You Are right A good Flat Ride Would Have Bein Good Too

Eric...you say they make it clear they want to be the rollercoaster park. I think they are making it clear they want to be a total resort destination. They have built millions of dollars in hotel rooms, an indoor waterpark, expansion of Soak City, investment in Planet Snoopy, the new nighttime lightshow on the trail...etc.

I would argue this is the very type of attraction they were missing, particularly after removing a flume ride and replacing it with a "family" ride that really isn't in Maverick. Am I thrilled with the attraction? Not yet b/c I need more facts. But, I am excited that they have finally made an effort.

I hope CP enjoyed there golden ticket awards cause i don't see them in there future for this one and WE know How Thay LOVE there golden ticket awards!
I know I'm talking about the something that has not happened yet but......I just don't see it for this ride at all.
