Another Intamin Rocket?

massive floorless or 4d!:-)
Massive floorless would be nice, but floorless coasters are just like raptor. I would like a flying coaster but i've heard that B&M flyers suck, and vekoma flyers aren't anything special either. If CP got another launching coaster i'll be very dissapointed. They need to stop focusing on breaking the Height and speed records and put in a good, solid,FUN, roller coaster.Doesn't have to be the highest or the one with the most loops. Just something new. I love B&M coasters but I wouldn't like to see a flyer that sucks the big one. Just please god anything but a wooden coaster!

Could someone explain the point of a floorless to me? It would seem that it is similar to Raptor, just that the track is underneath your feet instead of above you. That's retarded.
As for a flying coaster, ok, so I get to stare at the feet of the person in front of me, LA-DI-FREAKIN-DA. I would rather see a good old fashioned steel coaster that goes for good air time mixed with a decent amount of speed.

John

Have you been on a floorless before? The sensation of seeing steel consistently speeding just below your feet at over 60mph tends to add another lvel of excitement to the ride. ;)

I definately agree with what the other guy said above. We don't need another record breaker just add a fun loving coaster that everyone we'll enjoy. It doesn't have to break records for being the fastest, Longest, tallest, etc.. I just want to see a floorless maybe the height of Raptor or Mantis and whatever CF decides.
If you look at the past it seems like CP has kind of painted itself into a corner. Can anyone name a coaster they have built since Gemini that wasn't the tallest, fastest, tallest, etc.? When I think of breaking the inversion record the first thing that comes to mind is that it would take up a lot of space. We could argue about how CP isn't running out of space but come on, they are on a peninsula darnit, space is at a premium.
I really love the idea of a floorless coaster. I would imagine that it would have to break the inversion record or they wouldn't bother. Flying coasters(at least the one I have been on)just didn't do it for me. I couldn't enjoy myself while pondering just how safe those restraints were. The G forces trying to rip me out of my restraints wasn't a fun ride at all.
I don't know what the new coaster will be, but in my wildest dreams it would be a coaster similar to Shivering Timbers. I think the park needs more quality wood and there is ample room in "the back" of the park.

Jr. Gemini, Wildcat, Wicked Twister, Woodstock Express, Iron Dragon

None of these were the tallest or fastest when they opened. In fact I'm not sure these broke any records. Unless Iron dragon was the first suspended coaster? Not sure on that one. Even so, If it were, then that doesn't fall under the "est" catagory.

I would like to see a coaster like "poltergeist" at SF Fiesta Texas. It could be a thrilling ride, have a lot of inverstions, and not take up a lot of space. Plus it's an inverted coaster with only lap bars. Link below is to rcdb's page on poltergeist. Someone has a ride just like poltergeist and it is inclosed. Can't remember the name though.

For the woodie lovers in all of us, I'd like to see something like "Rattler" at SF Fiesta Texas. However, that would reguire substantial space. Unless they intertwine in into other rides. :) That would be cool too.

How about a nice GCI woodie?
A 200 ft tall + floorless with some crazy inversions would be awesome. Anyone else ever been on Kraken? I can only imagine what Cedar Point could do with that design. Floorless coasters are great. Everyone says they want a good ride experience...well Floorless coasters give you just that. I say a Floorless back by where the Swan Boats were would be awesome.
Iron Dragon would not be the first suspended coaster, it was the Bat at King's Island. Also, Wicked Twister did break records as the tallest, fastest, and only double twisting impulse coaster. Plus, you named two kid's coasters as potential record breakers, something that won't happen. And, the Wildcat opened when records were not really an issue like it is today. I agree with some others that CP needs another wood coaster. Not necessarily a record breaker, just something fun to ride.

Floorless coasters are just sit-down loopers with a different train design, they are not like Raptor at all. I like Dominator at Geauga Lake, but the floorless aspect doesn't really do much for me, Dominator is just a good sit-down multi-looping ride.

Both Dragster and Wicked Twister are very much fun rides, even though they are one trick ponies. I've had a blast on Dragster, it's a great addition and lot of fun. Short, but very sweet.

I think CP's next big ride won't be a coaster at all. I think it'll be some type of water ride. Or, maybe a hybrid water coaster, but I think it will definitely be a family ride.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

It's true that the floorless is really "just" a sitdown looper, but when it's designed by B&M, that's hardly a bad thing.

Joseph, there certainly are B&M hypers out there -- Nitro, Apollo's Chariot, Raging Bull, and Silver Star.

Jason, Iron Dragon was far from the first suspended, or fastest, or any -est. Great example that CP doesn't HAVE to put in a record-setter.

Personally I love the idea of a good mid-sizedd GCI or Gravity Group woodie. No matter what, it's rather early to be speculating...

In my opinion CP needs to return to the basics of what makes a good coaster. That would be first of all length, and not some 20 second or less ride. Then there is some speed, and airtime. Throw some nice G's in there and we have a coaster. With that said I would goto B&M (Hyper) or GG.

Then the argument comes up well we already have a hyper coaster (MF and magnum) and a B&M hyper would be about the same thing. Yes and no, the design is the same idea, but the ride experience doesn't have to be. Lets face the facts, magnum isn't going to be around forever, I like the ride alot but I do think it is time for another ride to take it's place as the CP airtime machine, and what better ride then a hyper from B&M. Then people say well MF has airtime, not really only in 3 or 4 places, MF is speed. (and a great ride).

I think B&M and GG have probably approached CP about rides but CP keeps saying no because it's not breaking big records.

Pete I have to disagree. Castaway Bay is the new family attraction. They have to put a new coaster in '05. Ok well they don't HAVE to..but I really think they will. Kinzel won't want to put just one more coaster in before he retires, and god knows his last one will be ridiculous (definitely 500 ft. barrier goes down).

I don't see what everyone here has against floorless coasters. They just provide for a great ride experience. Hell, they're made by b&m you know they're great.

That said, a new wood coaster would be awesome, but I don't see it happen. SO much room would be taken up...but if they could somehow weave it through other rides..that'd be awesome. Who knows what we will get next..I just hope it's something other than an Intamin ride (unless it's a 500 ft. mill force;))

Oh and real quick..a Goliath/Titan type ride would be insanely badass..I don't know if they'll do that though :D *** Edited 6/29/2004 3:49:20 PM UTC by af_187***
It would be awesome to see Cedar Point turn Mantis into a floorless but we all know that won't happen because of the layout and that they would have to completly demolish it. Plus you would take away the history. It would be cool if it was that easy. I agree on the last guy though. If you put a floorless in the back by where the swan boats used to be, you'll get a lot of business in that area. I was also thinking you could make part of the layout go on where the Cars are like how Raptor did when it was built.
I think CP should get a good flat ride like Delirium.

Could it be A B&M hyper? Has that ever been done?

Yes. They call it a mega coaster.

Cedar Point has proven that quanity sometimes does mean quality. Look at rides like MF, Magnum, Raptor, WT, and TTD. CP only built one 20 sec ride why do you think they'd do it again. You're jumping the gun too quickly. I see a big flat ride and a kiddie ride in Camp Snoopy for 2005.

What's wrong with wooden coasters? As long as it wasn't another over-sized monster like the Mean Streak, I would love to see another woodie at Cedar Point. They already have more than enough steel coaters. *** Edited 6/29/2004 7:51:26 PM UTC by Thonolan***

Well, I hope you're right. But most recent rumors have a couple of flat rides (and maybe a small family or water coaster) being added next year, and a major coaster for 2006. *** Edited 6/29/2004 6:52:59 PM UTC by Thonolan***
