Another Intamin Rocket?

I think a little agency known as the EPA might have something to say about that.

With what they pay in maintenance of the Mean Streak each year I wonder if he still thinks it was a good investment?

I think that plague means a lot. It's saying a statement

The plauge does mean a lot. The statement is deadly. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it. *Hears Twilight Zone music*

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!

If Mean Streak keeps having problems I'm sure they'll probably just build a new wooden coaster. This would bring people back to the back of the park. Maybe Taller, and faster. I would like to see something like 200 foot tall like Son Of Beast.

Yeah, because God knows that ride isn't incredibly mediocre and a maintenance nightmare.

Maybe it is a maintenance nightmare, but I'd hardly call it mediocre. But, that's just my opinion. I do wish CP would build another woodie.

Good god, no. Because of the maintenence costs, and the resulting trim brakes that would inevitably be needed, another giant woodie is the last thing Cedar Point needs. The problem is, Cedar Point probably wouldn't consider a smaller woodie, either. Everything has to be huge at Cedar Point.

I doubt that they will have another wood coaster built anytime in the forseeable future.

Why would there have to be trim brakes? I only remember the midcourse brake on SOB. Maybe there's more?

I was referring to giant wooden coasters in general. When the maintenance costs start adding up after the first few years, trim brakes are inevitably added. And then the park is stuck with a big, boring ride.

Some of this comes from my own riding experience, and some of it comes from various accounts that I've read. I'm not claiming to be an expert or anything.

Coaster in the Lake. That's sounds awsome. Make a flyer in the lake.

I rode Son of Beast in 2001 and was not impressed. Wood coasters should not be that big. You don't need such height or speed for a great ride. Case in point: The Dania Beach Hurricane. Pretty small by most standards, 90 ft tall, but it delivers a great and fun ride. It had airtime in spades. I could ride it all day, and for a mere $10 you can.

I say go with a proven, reliable, crowd pleaser. You can get that with a mid-size wooden.

Do the maintenance costs mostly have to do with the structure itself? If so, why not have a wooden coaster with steel structure like "Villan" at Geauga Lake. I think that's a real nice wooden coaster.

What I would like most out of anything is a 175 foot intamin coaster like Millenium Force just for good airtime and awesome hills I prefer that over any looping coaster. And I dont think we should jump to conclusions just yet unless their is any evidence of a new coaster this year Even though im sure their will be a new one fornext year or else CP wont be able to keep up with the coaster race of having the most.

I doubt they will be building a new one next year. Jut my opinion. I think the earliest we'll see a new one is in 06

My question is if Cedar Point would add a new coaster, where would they put it. The only area I can think of would be where the swan boats used to be and make it kind of go through Thunder Canyon. Help me out people!!!!

I'd actually be very content if they took out the Matterhorn, re-constructed the Power Tower queue, and added a Frisbee or something.

There is also a ride at Great America (Gurnee) called Condor. It's a Huss flat, and I think an addition like that would go great back in Frontier Town.

Shawn, there are plenty of places to build new coasters. You can weave in and out of existing ones, re-arrange other rides, or just remove older rides. When Dragster was being built, I didn't think there was anyway it could be a coaster of its magnitude, but sure enough....

If CP were to build a woodie in the park, they shouldn't go for longest, fastest, or tallest. In my opinion, They should try and make it the best Woodie out there so that Cedar Fair could hold the title of 1st and 2nd best wooden roller coaster. In my opinion, make a twister like Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa, except not dueling. Just have a massive ball of wood where you wouldn't know what the layout was. not an airtime machine, but head chopper heaven!

Yeah, because God knows that so far every tallest/fastest/whateverest wood coaster has been a real winner. [/sarcasm]

Tall wood coasters suck. There isn't even one exception, anywhere, with the possible exception of Colossos (which I've not been on). If you haven't been on Raven or Legend, I don't think you can appreciate what a modern wooden coaster is capable of.

I haven't been on Raven or Legend and I can appreciate what a good wooden coaster can do...a little coaster I like to call the Beast. Maybe not modern, but certainly not boring.

Wooden coasters do not attract as many people as steel coasters, especially small ones- they may be heaven to coaster-enthusiasts, but not the GP.

It is either build the biggest or fastest wooden coaster, or build a modern "one-of-a-kind" steel. Since I can never see a giant woodie in the future, I think that we will probably see the other. (But I sure could use another, more modern, out-and-back woodie. :) )

Besides, if you go too fast on a woodie, they become uncomfortable...
