Another Intamin Rocket?

Just food for thought. What if we got another Intamin Rocket Coaster? Though what we do is take the Storm Runner Concept and add 7 more inversions to it or whatever it takes to get the record for most inversions.

From all reports that I have gotten Storm Runner is running great, why waste time and space with a lift hill when you can cut to the chase with a launch, a 160ft tophat and a ton of inversions afterwards?

I have to wait three more weeks before I get Storm Runner, but if I had to pick #17 thats what I would pick, over a flier or a floorless anyday of the week.

Dan

Because the originality just isnt there [anymore].

It would be the 3rd launched ride, and the 2nd of which that has the same launch mechanism. It wouldnt be as thrilling, in my opinion, knowing exactly what to expect and how to feel throughout the experience, ala TTD.

*edit*

I would also imagine it would be pretty expensive.. probably moreso than a floorless or ride that was built solely to feature many inversions. *** Edited 6/26/2004 4:32:06 PM UTC by Azminthe***

I think that in the future that would be great, but I'm ready for a more conventional lift-hill coaster again. And wouldn't it be pretty hard to add 7 more inversions to it? That would get pretty out-of-control.
I don't know how likely it is they'll add another Intamin after all the trouble they had this year with the seatbelt thing. I would like them to add something they don't already have, like the flier or floorless Dan mentioned, rather than install another rocket.

Yeah, rockets are nice, but people want more thrilling things. I would like to see a flyer also.

What is more thrilling than a rocket coaster, especially one that has inversions? Granted TTD may not be the best coaster, but it is certainly the most thrilling ride I have ever been on.

Also, I would not count on CP adding another rocket coaster. Chances are, whenever they decide to add another coaster, it will be something they currently do not offer.

While I like the idea of that Dan, I would say right now I would like to see them go with the floorless design from B&M. While I love the launch rides that we have, I would like to see another traditional lift hill. I personally don't think we need to break to record for inversions either. Colossus, I believe holds the record for inversions at 10, that means we need 11 to beat it. Plus, the layout on Colossus isn't very creative just a bunch of barrell rolls strung together.

I still would like to see a great Spinning Wild Mouse ride. I think that would be very popular attraction.

I think that it would be about as popular as Iron Dragon. I think that it's very benificial to Cedar Point to continue building breakthrough rides like they have been doing in the past.
Exactly. Look at scream at mm, although it is the newest coaster there, the lines are much shorter than other rides.

Given the CP usually builds bigger and faster, I would like to see what they do with a flier. I rode Borg at Carowinds this year and it is very short, not much time to enjoy it.

Won't it be the 4th?

Xcelerator, TTD, Storm Runner...plus if CP was to build another.

That makes 4.

I think he was referring to CP only, not total...

ROUNDABOUND.

yes, I was just referring to the idea of 2 being in the same park, sorry about that. ;)

Don't underestimate the fun that results unless you've ridden it, though. Speaking from personal experience, Colossus is a phenomenal ride.

I agree with you, GregLeg. I will admit that when seeing pics of Colossus being built, I wasn't too excited about it. But, I really enjoyed the ride!

Adding all that with a launch would be quite interesting!

While I don't doubt Colossus is an amazing ride, I would like to see a ride that has more personality to it than just a "bunch of inversions" after a launch that's all. Maybe it's just me.

sky kicker, I was at Waldameer Park on 6-26-04 and they just happened to have been opening theie new coaster. Plus they were shooting for a comercial all over the park. It is has the new spinning cars design. It was fun. I think Cedar point could go a little farther and make it a longer, bigger ride.

When CP decides to build another coaster, I wouldn't mind seeing a lift hill like "The Hulk" I like the idea of accelerating over the first hill.

I also agree that another launching coaster would be redundent, but It may become the way to go for all new coasters. I think it has the potential to save space. Then you have room for more coasters.

All this is well and good but isn't that what almost every other post on here is dedicated to? Do we REALLY need to start another thread just because someone wats to tell us "what they think would be good for the park".

I think ultimately the decision is going to rest with the head execs of Cedar Fair...as much as you all wouldn't like to admit it...They have a good idea whats best for the park.

You never know...they might not invest in a new coaster for a few YEARS and there could be even bigger and better things out there. With the expansion of the hotel and the building of the waterpark inside of it, something tells me Cedar Point might not be adding anything next year or possibly the year after...we will just have to wait and see...

You're such a fanboy Dan. What happened to being the Magnum whore?

I'm tired of gimmick coasters.

I don't think the head execs of Cedar Fair have any say at all. The decision is entirely up to us.
