Another Intamin Rocket?

Oh so you are buyin the next 25 million dollar coaster....sweet in that case..I could use a coaster

CP is buying it...they are the ones signing the contract with whoever builds the next one...please don't be so ignorant to think that because you said we should build __________________ , that they will....

Can you see One-Eyed-Willie from the top of Magnum?

Maybe a launched coaster without a tophat but with new inversions might work. It would be expensive and I'de just assume see a coaster with a lift hill. When was the last time we saw a chain? Mantis? Millenium Force has the elevator system and maybe we could get one of those on our next coaster.

I don't understand the whole space saving concept with the launches...I'm pretty sure if CP decided to make MF 420' tall, its cable lift at 45* would've taken up less room than TTD's launch track, and then just toss in a twisting drop like on E:GF and you've consumed less real estate with a somewhat traditional lift hill than you would with a launch.
Jeff's avatar
Well seeing as how that's a right triangle at 45 degrees, the lift would require 420 feet. That's not very hard to figure out. The launch track is about 350 feet long. So there you have it. You are incorrect.

I like the idea of a launched multi-looper, like Storm Runner. But, don't do a top hat, that's too close to TTD. Maybe some inline twists at the top of the first hill, followed by a more conventional first drop would make for an interesting ride.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

How wild would it be to do a launch into the world's largest/tallest vertical loop, or dive loop/Immelman if you wanted to change direction? I know the G's would be HUGE but it would be pretty wild none the less...

ROUNDABOUND.

Maybe it is my old age setting in but how about a nice mid-sized coaster that gives a good ride that I can enjoy without concerns about whiplash, vertigo, etc? The Blue Streak is still one of the best coasters in the park and it is what, 40 years old?

You can always count on Jeff to set everyone straight. :)

I also agree with Chief Wahoo. I still love going on the Blue Streak and The Big Dipper.

No, you can always count on Jeff's ego to set everyone straight.

As for launched coasters, I don't think it would be too great of an idea, unless maybe it resembles the Incredible Hulk ride. That would be a pretty cool ride to add, as it would be much like your conventional chain lift but more of a ride than TTD.

I still think a new chain lift would be sweet. They haven't put a chain lift in since the Mantis, so it needs one. I think the best addition, if they could do it with out problems, would be a coaster like X in CA. I'm sure that's a long shot though, as CP probably doesn't want anymore problems, but it'd be cool.

I'm all for a floorless.

Whatever dude... if you can't handle strong opinions (or in this case, facts), don't visit the site.

Wahoo is right, and I feel even more strongly that a "good" ride would be far better than another gimmick ride. Dragster was kind of the last straw for me. Interesting ride, sure, but if I had one ride left in my life it would most certainly be on Millennium Force or Magnum before Dragster.

Could someone explain the point of a floorless to me? It would seem that it is similar to Raptor, just that the track is underneath your feet instead of above you. That's retarded.
As for a flying coaster, ok, so I get to stare at the feet of the person in front of me, LA-DI-FREAKIN-DA. I would rather see a good old fashioned steel coaster that goes for good air time mixed with a decent amount of speed.

Could it be A B&M hyper? Has that ever been done?

Floorless coasters are fun.

Jeff - it was a joke buddy

I doubt they're going to build another magnum/mill coaster right now, I would prefer one, but I doubt it. Therefore I think floorless would be the next best bid.

It doesn't really matter what it is though, I just want a RIDE put in. WT and TTD are fun, but they aren't really complete rides.

Oh, and I don't understand the gimmick thing Jeff. Coaster designers are just looking for new ways to thrill. If every coaster in the park was a hyper coaster or a millennium like one, they'd begin to be boring and redundant. "Gimmick" rides provide for a different experience. With that being said, however, I do believe they do need some more 'ride' rides. Classicly designed coasters do tend to be the best.

Wow, it isn't even July yet, much less the off-season and we are already discussing what new coasters we want. It is nice how Cedar Point spoils us.

Well, I guess I don't really have any idea of the length of TTD's launch track, so you have me there. But, I do believe that the entire distance from station to the tower, including the pull out, is more than 420'. Hence, with the twisting drop, the cable lift would still take up less land than the launch because the pull out would be in another direction and wouldn't be added to the length along the axis of the lift/launch.

More on topic, if you would want to put a launch on a multi-looper I agree that something like a dive loop or zero-g roll following the launch would be a good idea.

Flying coasters, even from B&M, blow. They're not interesting at all.

By "gimmick" I mean something that ends in "-est." Rides like Raven and Legend aren't "-est" anything (unless ass kickingest is worthy of a record), and they're two of my favorite rides anywhere. Dragster might be tallest and fastest, but that doesn't make it better than Millennium Force, or any of a number of rides I enjoy.

The point is, focus on a ride experience, end to end, instead of building something for the sake of breaking some record.

While I like the idea of that Dan, I would say right now I would like to see them go with the floorless design from B&M.

I would have to agree with you. I would like to see a floorless like Kraken at Sea World.

"Coasters are life"-Userx

I'd rather have a plain fun ride. I don't care if it puts Cedar Point ahead of the rest, I just want to have a good time. If I see a ride, I don't say, hey let's ride that, it's a record breaker. I say, let's ride that, it looks like fun. Though, you can still have a fun ride that breaks records. (Magnum and Millennium Force, for example.) There just has to be a little more thought put into it.
