2008 New Employees

You'll just need to call and talk to someone in your department. It all depends on a variety of factors, such as when you left, the reason you left, how you left/the terms you left on, and what kind of employee you were. Basically, you're going to have to call and talk to someone because, while we could tell you any sort of thing on here, we aren't the decision-makers.
There's a decent chance they'll give you another chance...But be aware that, if given a second chance and you quit again for any reason before your end date, you probably will become a no-rehire.

It was for personal reasons, there was troubles going on at Home and I needed to attend to them. I wasn't even there no more than a Month and Half when I quit

Did you sit down with your manager and explain why you needed to leave? Or did you just up and quit without saying anything to anyone, or worse yet, not even processing out?

If you really had serious problems going on back home, such as an ill family member, I think that if you sat down with your manager and explained the situation and how serious it was that your manager would, hopefully, have been understanding and perhaps even encouraged you to apply again next year.

But somehow I get the impression that you just quit without warning or notice, and without communicating your issues with anyone in management or supervision. Your best and only bet is to try and get ahold of your former manager and explain your situation.

I did process out, I just didn't stop attending work, Went to the Food Services office explaining to them I would like to terminate my employment and they asked why and i said it was for personal reasons.

P.S. I just tried putting in my soc # and this is the message I recieved does it mean I am a no re-hire or what? Sorry...
Based on your past employment record with Cedar Fair, you are not eligible for re-employment at this time.

Well if you already waited a season before you applied again, I really can't imagine that being good. Get in touch with one of your manager, and they should be able to tell you what is going on.

I completed my original contract in 2002 From mid-may to mid-august. At the end of July, I extended my contract until the end of the season. During the last week of my original contract, a family situation came up and I had to cancel my extension. Hence, I didn't complete my 2nd contract. I was considered a no-rehire for the '03 and '04 seasons. For the '05 season, the no-rehire had been lifted, and I was able to secure a contract. So, I believe there is still hope for your Cedar Fair future.

Well, "personal reasons" is pretty vague and just sounds like a poor excuse. (Not saying that it IS, just that you probably should have explained exactly what the issue was, like if you had a terminally ill family member). E-mail your manager and explain in detail the reason you had to leave.

I had quit mid-season for every one of the summers I worked at CP, for pretty much the same cocktail of reasons each time. I'd e-mail my manager each time and explain myself, and I was repeatedly allowed back. I felt bad that the same issues kept cropping up each time, and hoped with each new season that things would be different, but they unfortunately never were. I'm probably a no re-hire for life now, although I'd still love to go back if I had the chance LOL

So with applications being under review, and many employees getting that call. Are there any questions about the start of the season from any of our new employees? We are here to help you with this process as much as possible.

Actually, I do have (another) few questions.

1) How long do contracts last? For example, I said I could work the whole season, including weekends at the end... does that mean I'll likely be contracted for that long?

2) From other threads I've gathered that, concerning weekends, housing IS open but I'd be required to commute at the beginning/end. Is this correct?

3) I haven't been to the park since I was 4, LOL. What are the uniforms like? People always take pictures of the rides but not the employees :)

I'll add more if I think of it.

Thanks!

^ 1) Yes. Management loves employees who contract for the whole season.

2) Not quite sure what you're referring to. Housing is open from beginning to end. However, some sections of housing may open a bit later than other sections. An employee shuttle is offered for all housing residents.

3) There are various pictures of employees in the employment section of the cedarpoint website. You will be issued a ride host uniform, and other clothing articles such as a jumpsuit, rain gear, and sweat suit will be available for purchase.

I meant:

for the housing, during Sept. and Oct. when they're only open weekends, I would have to leave during the week, right?

And about the uniforms... well, I kind of figured I'm getting a ride host uniform. LOL. I meant, I have NO IDEA what ride host uniforms look like. I've worked at theme parks before and know that different departments have different uniforms :)

You can stay on the point and it is even free on the weekends and the uniforms are a red polo shirt with blue shorts and you have to buy white shoes.

I don't know. Something about wearing something picked out in the 60s/70s gets me thinking. ;)

Seriously though, I had a guest last summer mention to me in passing that the uniforms are the same as from back when he was a kid; and he wasn't any younger than 40.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Basically, you're working the entire season now.

2. Housing is available all year, the difference is how much of it is available. After weekends start, it's free.

Haha, no, they had some sweet uniforms when I was a kid...I have pictures of me riding Jr. Gemini with ride ops in the background. There used to be "pretty" one-piece things, as my dad likes to laugh about.

Didn't they used to be button up shirts with the same colors as our current uniforms? There is a picture floating around somewhere of an older uniform, if I find the link I'll post it.

Hey all,

I have a friend who worked at Cedar Point last year suggest I put in an app, so I did. I sounds like this is a fun job to have. How long should it take to hear back, usually?

^I heard back in 2 days. Don't know if it varies between people though...
