I worked in Ride Operations at various parks for a number of years. My favorite year ever, by FAR, was the year I worked in Rainbow Island at Geauga Lake. But, I do like kids...and I'll admit that.
The little kiddies never talked back, appreciated the ride, had smiles on their faces (unless forced to ride by their parents) and just seemed so happy to be there. We had a tightnit crew which made things pleasureable too.
I worked on lots of big coasters and even a great spieling ride...but none of my years were more fun than that one in Rainbow Island. And, let's be honest, working a coaster is just a small step up from working on an assembly line. After the initial excitement of working Magnum, Maverick or whatever the bottom line is that you are in for the same repetitive motions 6 days a week and 10 plus hours a day. Rides gets a lot of glory, but I'd much rather work in games, merchandise or even be a park sweep. At least the scenery changes in those jobs pretty regularly.

Im sure excited for next season to start. This first year there was hard for me at first, but i'm glad i stuck through with it. Working at CP was one of the most rewarding experiences for me. If i could work weekends during October I would, but being 12 hours away makes that impossible.Do they not provide the dorms during those weekends?
PS. Did you work with Mike Costello? I heard he was working the rides you were at.
Kidcoaster! Yapp that's me and 'GAM man 68' was my awesome ATL . If CLP doesn't open in 2008 (since it looks doubtful *tears*) you should definitely consider working the Point. Should you apply, feel free to use my name as a reference.

I think you were roommates with one of my best friends, Allison who worked Iron Dragon last season. Allison and I go to school together and actually our dads work together in Syracuse NY.
Luckily I've convinced her to go back for a second season, but she wants to work in Hotel Breakers. She always said you were an awesome roommate :)

I'm excited that so many people are coming back, it's gonna seem like we never really left in the first place haha. If you think about it for those of us who worked weekends, it really doesn't seem like that much time has passed, yet were only 4 months away from the next season.

This will be my girlfriend and I's first year working at cedar point. She got a position as a ride hostess but were not sure what one yet, and I will be in merchandising. I was wodnering what all does the merchandising consist of, and what is the average pay check amount?
If posible email me at stebbins11959@hotmail.com
OK, so I have another silly question.... How long do background checks and stuff usually take? I know I remember Steve saying on the phone that they were going to go over my application with his boss, then possibly call my references...
...I was planning on calling Tuesday (a week from my phone interview) to follow up if I haven't heard anything by then... but I'm just curious because I'm really excited about this job and I'm pretty much dying to get 100% confirmation that I'll be there in May :)
thanks!

You know as much work as it seems believe it or not as a guest of the park I am jealous you guys get to do what you do. The chance to meet so many friends and the fact you get all the time in the world (when your not working) to go and enjoy CP.
I wish I got a job there but I have to finish my associates degree this summer. I am a third year community college student and its getting pathetic!
Actually I had a question. How long after you quit are you eligible for re-hire. I quit mid contract in the summer of 2006. You can either reply here or you can hit me up on aim SPMEXI107 thanks
P.S. I don't know if this matters or not but I was workin in Food Service
Ok, I called to check up on my application and I'm in!! I'm so freaking excited... I can't wait until May! :)
2009: I REALLY want to come back, we'll see

You might not be eligible to be rehired ever again. It depends on, basically, the terms in which you quit. Call your department and talk to them about it, because, it's all up to them.

It was for personal reasons, there was troubles going on at Home and I needed to attend to them. I wasn't even there no more than a Month and Half when I quit
