It's time to bring the new employee thread back. Believe it or not 2008 is just around the corner. All new employees for 2008 feel free to post any questions you may have. A currenty or former Cedar Point employee will be happy to help you out.

^Begins in January and don't believe they stop accepting applications during the season. They need all the help they can get.

Are you committed to work the entire summer? I have to take summer classes this summer if I want to graduate college in the spring, but could come for like 6 weeks in the summer. It probably doesn't work like that, especially if I want to be a ride host, but I figure the turnover rate is high enough I stand a chance.
I'm not sure about other Departments, but I know Rides likes you to commit at least three months.

I am thinking about working at the Point or Waldameer. Unless Conneaut Lake Park reopens then I will go back there.

To add to the three months for rides, it all depends on where you will be living after you leave if they want you to come back. I believe if you are within two or three hours of the park, they want you for weekends in Sept./Oct. If you are within four hours they will request you for half of the weekends in Sept./Oct.
I ran into a problem with this since my school is almost exactly four hours from the park and I don't have a car to get me there. It just wasn't going to happen so I sacrificed my bonus and processed out for education reasons.

I can't wait for opening day '08. After being worked half to death all summer i miss it already miss the RBMF. How about you DBCP, don't you miss being the first crew there and the last one to leave. By the way for any new people don't be detoured by coments like what i said about being worked half to death, they do work you very hard but you dont realize it because you quickly devolpe ways of having fun but staying safe. it will be the summer of a lifetime.

It truly is the summer of a lifetime. You will work hard and party harder, just remember never to lose sight of work though. Make sure your at work for work and the have fun when its time to have fun. It will be hot, sweaty, and amazing. You will make friends that will never forget. It's hard to think that a year ago I was sitting in my living room wondering if I could work at CP, and after being there for 5 months I wouldn't change one thing about those memories. Just make sure you apply if you are at all interested, they need everyone the can get. See you in '08!

"Every 10 minutes when a mantis train went by I would think of you"
Lol you used to make my day. Miss ya lots. Justin, not so much.
Anyway, yeah. I loved my job but I couldn't imagine working there if I didn't have a passion for the park.

I think the one thing you'll realize shortly after working at the park, friendships are what usually bring everyone back for another season. It's the laughs and good times with your crew that make the long days/weeks/months of work go by.

From late-night runs to steakand shake or Dianna's to spending your days off riding rides or relaxing in soak city. this summer was the greatest summer of my life and i cant wait until next year.

It's a lot of fun. Sure it may be some tough work at times with the temperature and humidity, but the experience is so worth it. Just look at how many years I've been doing it. It really is a great place to work.

I might try CP next year but I might stay at whats left of GL in retail. Knowing my luck if I went to CP I would get stuck with all the new kids rides that I FINALLY escaped from after this season.
My signature was edited because it was more than three lines. I'm naughty!
^ That's something I never really thought about. Maybe Cedar Point will have a bigger selection of employees now that GL is closed? That could be really good for them, especially if they're planning on a daily summer parade.
You mean, especially if Tim is planning on a daily summer parade...? :)

A daily parade would do the park fair justice, considering how well Monster Midway Invasion Celebration went. No matter how hard you tried, that song always found its place in your head.
