Congrats to all the sups for next year. I can not wait to come back in rides for the 08 season.

Im sure excited for next season to start. This first year there was hard for me at first, but i'm glad i stuck through with it. Working at CP was one of the most rewarding experiences for me. If i could work weekends during October I would, but being 12 hours away makes that impossible.

Do they not provide the dorms during those weekends?

PS. Did you work with Mike Costello? I heard he was working the rides you were at.

They do provide housing during weekends in September and October, but some people simply can't justify driving 4, 5, 6+ hours each weekend to work them.

Well when gas is $3/gallon, and you're only making a hundred or two a weekend, it quickly can cancel itself out just in gas costs.

I lived 5 hours away from CP and I ended up coming down in October and just staying during the week as well, I actually moved here full time now though. Fair warning, if you stay at CP for too long, you'll probably find your way living in Sandusky. Don't say I never warned you.

You're exactly right Ben. I would've wanted to work weekends, but with homework, price of gas, and driving back and forth at night isn't worth it.

does annyone know the number to HR so I can call and ask them where my bonus check is? Thanks.

Thanks for the number. I called and they are trying to say that I did not work on my last day, which means no bonus. It makes me mad because I know I did and I know they have a stack of papers that has my process out date written on it. I better receive my bonus check, I just have to wait to talk to Steve Vorhees.

That makes me wonder, about how many people that happened to this season. It is very unlikely and unfortunate if it happens, but you never know.

Im pretty nervous, since I really have no proof, and a company like Cedar Point can get awar with that stuff since it is so large. All I have is a witness (my team leader) who can say that I worked on my last day. Hopefully he remembers, now I just have to dig up his number. Hopefully this goes smoothly.

I would call Park Op directly and ask to speak with a manager. They should be able to look it up on the time sheets.

I left a message for Steve Vorhees, guess he is off for thanksgiving or was just off for today. Do you think they keep the time sheets? Im pretty sure when I processed out park op checked "completed contract." Hopefully its just a mess up.

Of course they keep time sheets, and it is also recorded in the computer that you worked.

I have full intentions of applying (and hopefully working) next summer, in fact I'm very pumped for it :)

Every summer my church takes a week long mission trip that I've been a part of for several years. From what I understand so far in this thread, as long as I tell CP up front that this specific week would be requested off, they're okay with it? I have to commit to the trip sooner rather than later, to guarantee a spot, and I was just curious how it would play out like that.

Also, this summer will be the summer between my senior year of high school and freshman year of college. I'm kind of bummed about missing grad parties and the like, but for anyone who has done that (worked the summer after you graduate), would you still say it's worth it? *** Edited 11/20/2007 1:52:15 AM UTC by GeeForce***

^ I agree with you 100%, my first summer at the Point was right after I graduated high school. I processed in at Cedar Point 2 days after my graduation, so I did not attend any graduation parties. I can say this though, it was the best decision to do that because the memories that you make at Cedar Point will last you a long time.

Be prepared for long hours, and stressful times. Cedar Point is a great place to work, it will teach you things about life that will leave a lasting impression on you. Now on the note about requesting time off, you have to put that in your application that you would like that week "contracted off". They write that into your contract so that it doesn't affect your status for being eligible for your bonus.

To add onto what Bootz3456 said, once the dates become contracted days off, they're put on your hiring log (in the case of rides). This will then correspond to your ride's staffing/hiring log, which will indicate which days you have contracted off. This allows for your TL/ATL to know about the days which you're contracted off so that they may prepare the schedule accordingly.

As for graduation parties. I was in the same predicament this past summer. There were several parties of close friends that I actually got contracted off to attend, but I also only live about 45 minutes from the park. That being said, I also contracted a day off for my own party, which was a great opportunity to get to see a lot of my friends. Many of them were very understanding of the fact that I simply couldn't make them all.
