2008 New Employees

I was surprised that I didn't have a problem with spiders in Commons. This year it seemed that Commons had a big skunk problem, and Bayside had some snake issues.

And Bootz...well, yeah, I had fun, but rides is still my second choice next season. Live E is more up my alley, so to speak.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Much to my surprise, spiders are not what you need to worry about at Commons... some mating skunks, perhaps, and maybe a few snakes if you live in Bayside, but not spiders. :)

Come to think of it, I'm not sure I ever saw a spider at Commons; they probably know better than to live there. ;)

That being said, you'll have way more than your fair share of spiders at your location; especially in rides. I know Millennium was covered in them.

If you ever are at Blue Streak, heres some advice: do NOT go underneath the station if you don't like spiders! I had to go down there three times, and I had trouble keeping myself down there to get whatever it was I was down there to get each time.

Spiders love making their webs in queues and on the rides. Every morning, they're there.

Spiders all hang out at Wicked Twister.

They do? ;)

Some of my favorite moments from the summer were when Stephen would completely freak out over those spiders at our ride. There certainly were quite a few of them, and some being rather large to say the least.

Stephen wasn't the only one terrified. Some of those suckers did get really, really big.

I heard that the spiders are bad at the dorms. Is this true?

It depends on what dorms. Commons and Bayside, they're not too bad. I saw a few this year, but, they were little. Cedars didn't seem to be too bad either. Golds, however...*shudders*. I will never live there again, ever, and I recommend to any new girls wanting to apply to avoid there! The allure of cheaper dorms gives you a lot of nasty spiders. There were a TON in my room the whole summer, big ones too. I got bit on my toe twice (the same toe) my first night there. Never again.

You and Stephen both left before they got really bad... and the exterminators never came until mid-September.

If you want to see the biggest spiders you have ever seen in your entire life, go to Calypso at nightfall.

took them long enough to come. I was getting guest complaints about the spiders. Colin remember the one night when the train was cycling one fell in my hair and everyone was staring at me freaking out and I almost broke the light curtain. Oh and we can't forget our mouse problem ;) God I hated that mouse.

I'll be applying and hopefully getting hired into rides for the 2008 season at Cedar Point!

Woooo!

Think that's bad? Try driving a Paddlewheel boat with those suckers crawling everywhere. I HATE SPIDERS!

They only came out at night, but there were a TON. I don't know where they came from, 'cause they weren't there during the day. I almost rammed Millennium Bridge one night when one crawled across my hand while I was driving. The crew had mostly gotten used to them, but they drove me crazy. Maybe because I was only at PWE about half the time, I don't know. It amused them to watch me start beating the boat canopy with a broom between every cycle to try and kill or chase off the spiders.

Then there was the morning I got so fed up, I brought in a can of Raid that I'd bought and pretty much emptied it between the 4 boats.
Didn't make a bit of difference later that night, either...>:-o *** Edited 11/29/2007 2:06:02 PM UTC by HoosierTTD***

I'm pretty sure I would have cried. Haha, remember my boom I carried around with me at Dragster when I was at walking to fight them off? I'm pretty sure some of the guests thought I was crazy sometimes.. Especially the one who killed a spider for me when I ran away from it. I kept a broom in the corner at Unload 2 at Magnum too, even though they weren't nearly as bad there. O:-)

Aww, I do remember that! Good times. And while walking was bad, the worst was changing the low zone locks along the lagoon.

I never got to try chute at SRF at night, but I feel like they would've been pretty bad up there, too...so maybe that's a good thing.

Still, the spiders eat the other bugs, so I guess we should be grateful. Haha, speaking of bugs, that reminds me, remember in '05 when we tricked Barb and Zoya into going out onto the infield at night with the floodlights on? I don't think either of them spoke to me for the rest of the night...

That's why I didn't change the locks at night.. It was bad enough in the morning, haha. And Barb was at Dragster? Why do I not remember that happening?

Though I do remember something about sending someone down there with a hardhat and a broom...

#1 - theres not NEARLY enough spiders at magnum to need a broom.
#2 - i love that you were at unload 2 enough to bring your own personal broom. BEST. POSITION. EVER.

Unload 2 = Amazingness. I'm gonna have to sneak my way over there sometime this season to play, haha.

And there were clearly enough spiders at Magnum to need a broom. (it really doesn't take very many for me to reach the point of needing one)
