2007 New Employees

AWESOME! I'm loving the feedback that I am getting from everyone. thanks all. yeah, I don't really intend on drinking that much. I'm someone who needs sleep. I say this now, but we'll see what happens. I'm not one who gets all worked up and out of control when i'm drunk. I'm usually pretty chill. having a good time, but never get out of control. I'm a very liberal open minded person, so I'm really excited about the people that I will meet. I'm sure that I'm going to have a blast! can't wait. Time is still crawling by.....

I asked if I could work though my Split somewhere else and they said No. :(

I did get to work Millennium one Saturday and Chaos the last day, though.

Ooh, I did get to work Millennium and Magnum when we were down the first weekend of bonus weekends. It was so fun to have a change of scenery for a little bit :)

Like others have said to get into Louies it's 19 to get in and 21 to drink. If your underage you get NO stamped, and BIYC if your of age. Everyone drinks there, so just be careful with your drinks. Like the person above me said, don't act stupid when walking back to Commons. I found even if your walking with a big group back, split up and you won't be bothered. But as long as you don't act stupid you'll be fine. I don't know really what happens when you get caught. I know your tag gets pulled and you have to go in the next day to get it back from your manager. Punishment wise, I *think* it's a two step...

When you get caught (chances are it WILL happen, the "police" have gotten to be huge jerks outside of commons) they do take your name tag. The next morning you pick it up from your department manager or the highest ranking person opening the next morning. Nine times out of ten he or she will have the write up waiting for you when you walk into the office, you tell your story, you sign, you get your ID back and a carbon copy of the paperwork. One offense (at least in rides) is one step. Not that big of a deal, it happens to many people every Monday morning and Friday morning.

Like Ray said, be careful! It's easy to have a few too many, I know I've been there. Unfortunately, it's much easier to get caught, and I've been there, too. Watch your back, because the commons "police" are not out to be your friend...

HAHAHA, the commons police, I love it, it makes me think of the "rent a cops" we have back in my hometown. old OLD men who are like 70 walking down water st. (the main street). They were/are a joke........I know the Commons PD aren't a joke tho... people make them sound like they are not too friendly... but yeah, thx for the tip!

Yes, because the rent-a-cops will put you in the rent-a-cuffs and take you in the rent-a-car to the rent-a-jail. Then you can see a rent-a-judge in the morning. They're real police, and while they do need to calm down a bit, I generally tried not to cross them.

I never had a problem with the CP cops, because I don't give them any reason to suspect me of being an underage drunk. When they asked me a question, I'd answer in a calm, friendly way. I walked straight, kept my head up, and smiled. And of course, its never a bad idea to position yourself in front of a crazy drunko who WILL get caught and have his tag pulled, and occasionally turn around and give him a dirty look, just so that the cops know you're not together. :)

lol, MaXair, loves it. BTW> I JUST figured out your nickname, HAHA.

Pretty much all you gotta do is not think about how your gonna get caught, because if you think about it too much, then it will happen. Act like a normal person, and if you can try to stay in Bayside or Cedar's on one of those nights.

Speaking of getting caught...here's some advice: Don't piss on the trees on the way back from Louie's to Commons. However, if you do get stopped by the cops there is an out...Put on an accent, have a driver's license from a foreign country and tell them public urination is culturally acceptable where you come from. Give them an out of country address, they'll be too lazy to search it, then they'll just drive you home. Easy way to get public intox, public urination, underage! Personally, I don't know anyone who tried this, but I have a pretty good suspicion it would work.

Yeah, unless the run the drivers license, find out its a fake and get you for a host of identity theft charges on top of the DIP and MIPs.

Yep, that's a REALLY smart plan.

How are they gonna run a foreign DL? Trust me...it works...I mean WOULD work. haha.

i have a question about the employee perks. are you able to get into other CF parks on your own time or do you have to go on one of the group trips to get in free.

I would assume that is still TBD after the Paramount acquisition. I would think the answer would be yes, but I really can't guarantee it either way.

I know last year your CP employee ID got you into all the other Cedar Fair parks for free. I went to MA on mine and know a lot of other people who went to GL. I'd assume that in '07 you'll be able to get into all the former Paramount parks, but I'm not positive.

If it doesn't happen I would settle for discounted admission lol.

Hi everyone, Im new to this forum and I need some info about working at CP.

I have worked in a Theme Park for the last 3 summers and I love it! I have always worked in the operations department! In 04' I worked at Kings Island and I was promoted to Supervisor in 05'! After that summer I relized that I love working in the Indusry and wanted to become Full Time! So I decided to move up to Springfield Mass and Work at Six Flags New England as part of an Internship for College. There I started out as a Lead in a Divsion of 12 rides then in June I was promoted to Supervisor of the same division.

My questions are this.... How hard is it to move up at the Point? Say I start at the end of Maycould I get promoted by mid summer? Would I get a pay increase? Its obvios that I have very good experience so I know that i could fit right in real fast. I live in Dayton so i wont be far from home!

Also my last question... Could I work at Castaway Bay in the offseason and then switch over and work for CP when it opens up?

Well thanks for your time reading this it means a lot!

Moving up is possible, but not always easy. Major rides and minor ride areas only have 2 leadership positions each. Beyond that, there are only 8 zone supervisors for the entire park.

People have been promoted their first summer, but it's very rare. Your previous experience might help, but don't expect to get a major ride if you're promoted your first year.

You can ask for in-charge time (when your TL and ATL are not at the ride) on the ride you get hired at to get some CP experience, but just be aware that this usually goes to those with seniority at the park, too.

I got promoted to ATL my first summer (this past summer), but that was just coincidence. I worked at WildCat, and we went from July on with just a TL. There were about 3 of us who got a lot of in charge time on my crew because of this. I ended up getting promoted because I agreed to work every other bonus weekend. It all just depends on your experience on the ride, and if there are even any openings TO be moved up on the ride.

I worked at geauga lake last year in games, and this year i cant decide wether i should work in rides or games this year, and i have a few questions for people who have worked at geauga lake or cedar point.

1.) On my geauga lake application if I put games as my first choice, and rides as my second choice does that mean that games will look at my application first, and then they can pass it on to rides, or can either rides or games look at my application first? I know it would be possible to either get hired in games or rides, but wich one would most likely happen.

2)About how many hours a week do rides people usually work. Is rides pretty flexible with scheduling, so if i needed a day off for something, or a week off when i go on vacation i wanted to make sure it would be possible to get those days off.

3) How do breaks work. Do you just get a break whenever you get one, or do you get breaks at certain timed. How many breaks and how long would the breaks be in a one day?

4) Do you get to choose which ride you want to work, or do you just get put wherever. Is it also possible to get moved around alot, or do you pretty much stay at the ride you were supposed to work from the beginning?

5)What is it like working in rides? If for some reason i dont like rides is it hard to get switched into another department such as games.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have never worked in games, but I would take the rides dept. over games any day. If you really liked games, I would stay there, but otherwise I would moce to rides.
