The first half of the summer I was on point. Which did have a few benefits. I only had 1 roomie which was nice. And during any breaks (since i was a corkscrew and was only a 5 min walk) I could just go to my room and nap! Haha. But in July I moved to commons to the 1500 building. Working nights was nice but was impossible to sleep during the day without an airconditioner! Each place has benefits just depending on what you want. And if you dont like it one place, you can always move...
I'm so excited that I'm on Raptor, but what are the chances that I'm moved? I know that I'll have fun no matter what, but I really don't want a different ride.
How often is it that a person shows up and their ride is different than originally anticipated? Most of the time is it what they tell you when you get hired?
If you could give me a general idea that would be great so I know how much (or how little) to get my heart set on Raptor.

It really just depends. It's impossible to be more accurate than "most people will work at the ride they were originally hired to." Some people may work a different ride for the first week or two, even up to the first month, before going to the ride they were originally contracted to. Some may never get there, though that's usually by choice (i.e., they liked their 'new' crew).
Like everyone else said, give where ever you end up a chance. There are very few places in the park I would flat-out refuse to work, and there are almost none that I couldn't put up with for at least a week or so. If you get moved around a bit, look at it as a chance to make more friends and gain experience on different rides. Hell, plan on being sent away for at least a week to cross-train somewhere during the season. Maybe more than once.
As corny as it sounds, it really is all about attitude. I've heard Raptor is a fun ride to work, and you should be proud that you got hired there. If it should turn out, either at the beginning of the season or some point during it, that you need to spend some time at another ride, try to stay positive. Some of them are a lot more fun than you would think, and even a relatively crappy ride can be enjoyable if the crew is good. Good luck this season!

During the interveiw do they ask what ride you would like to work or do you have to give them hints or tips of what kind of ride you would like to work?
On my account it says that Debra has reveiwed my application (she is zones 1 and 2 I think) does this mean that I would be placed in zones 1 or 2 or can she place me into other zones? Just wondering how it works.
Being the Area 1 Manager (Zones 1 & 2), I'm fairly sure she mostly hires for Area 1.
As for what ride you'd like to work... She didn't ask me specificially, but you should have a chance to mention something. There's, of course, no guarantee though.

Correct. If you wish to put a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice, you should answer "no" to that question.

Well, last year Debra was on the one that hired me and I ended up on Magnum. I put in a special request to go over there, but I mean if you ask or say something in your interview, they of course will obviously try to accomodate you, keyword being "try."
For the person who asked what are the chances of being moved from your assigned location, Craig said it best, Most people go to their contracted locations when you get there. However there are exceptions. When I processed in I was contracted to Thunder Canyon, however when I was at Park Op on my first day for processing in I was told I go moved to Mean Streak. I didn't mind too much because it was a coaster, but if I ouwld have had TC I'm sure it would have been fun. I did go over there and cross train for a week and had alot of fun.
However... I did NOT enjoy being left at field when it started to hail!!

For those employees who live far away, what stuff do you bring with you to the point. Besides the obvious like clothes and stuff. What about tv's and large things.

Since I do take a vehicle (and a truck at that) I can take a lotta stuff! Last summer the big things I took were my Refigerator and my Desktop computer. My roomie had a TV but I never used it and she hardly did either. Top 3 things to do: Work, Sleep, Party. If you are totally addicted to your tv, bring it, otherwise its best left at home. Theft is not a stranger at CP so be careful with whatever you do decide to bring. Smaller things are easier to get stolen but can also be locked up in your locker (provided you stay in a build that has lockers in the rooms) such as laptops and portable dvd players and such things.
Bring the TV. It can be nice if you want to relax in the A/C during a split shift or your day off (though you'll probably end up falling asleep instead of watching it, haha). I brought an Xbox, too, but never really used it. I may leave it at home this summer. I'd leave the computer, too. TVs seem to get stolen fairly rarely, but computers and video game systems seem targeted more frequently. I kept my room locked, though, and never had the slightest problem with theft in the 2 years I've been there. I have known other people who have had things taken, though. Always, always, always lock your room and make sure your roommates do, too.
Beyond that, you really don't have a hell of a lot of room. Clothes, yeah, but you can't go overboard. Bear in mind that you'll be wearing a uniform 6 days a week, so you don't need a whole hell of a lot. Bring some warm clothes, though. May can be frigid, at times, especially at night. That was a big mistake I made my first year.
A fridge is nice to have so that you don't always have to go out to eat...that gets expensive real quick. Get a fridge and stock it up with lunch stuff (both Wal-Mart and Meijer have good deli sections) and try to make your lunch at least most days and take it into the park with you. It's cheaper than the cafe in the long run.
It's kind of up to you, beyond that. I brought way too much with me my first year and ended up sending half of it back with my parents. You'll be surprised at how small those rooms really are. My second year I packed everything into my tiny Honda with room to spare. You're not gonna be spending a whole hell of a lot of time in your room...at least awake.

I rode Greyhound and over packed after numerous people told me not to, just bring everything necessary, that you need like swimming trunks, plenty of underwear, suntan lotion (every race), hygenie products, and your smile......I didn't have a tv, but I did have a cell phone Alarm Clock (maybe two) depends on the person....So basically every thing in your bedroom.
Welcome to Mantis the only stand-up roller coaster in the state of Ohioer, this is not a sit-down roller coaster, if you want to sit down then their is the I-ron Dragon over to the left and across the midway is Milliunem Force.
I came from California last summer with two friends. I was contracted to Raptor, one friend was contracted to Blue Streak and the other to Millennium Force. Out of the three of us, only my friend that was contracted to Millennium Force actually got put there. I got put on Wicked Twister and my other friend got put on Raptor... so in my experience 2/3 of us did NOT get the ride we were contracted to. But it's 100% true that it's the crew that makes the ride - NOT the ride. It's possible to have a better time on the Matterhorn triangle than MF.

Last summer, a friend and I drove from Texas and processed in on May 31st. I was contracted to Gemini and he was to Skyhawk. Neither of us were put there. I ended up on Corkscrew, and he ended up on SkyRide (although they tried to put him at Wildcat right b4 that one). I loved working the ride Corkscrew, but didnt like many of my crew and they didnt seem to like each other either which didnt make it very fun. But the ride itself sometimes did help me enjoy it more! My attitude was great but the rest of the crew's wasnt. Thats never a fun place to be but dont let it scare anybody. That doesnt seem to be the case very often.
Hey All
Just had my interview and I am assigned to the 2007 Millennium Force Crew. I am super excited and I cant wait to start.
