Fluffy, why would they have to buy the whole thing? They may just want the coaster, so CP will dismantle all of it, shipping Avalanche Run to whereever and the building to the nearest scrapyard.

The key word in that statement from the Park that Walt posted is "officially"...what about unofficially?

Unofficially.. I think we all look a bit too far into things.

Think about it this way, you are doing an interview for a news paper lets say. The interviewer asks you a question which you would rather not answer on the record of the interview. You give a satisfactory answer that gets the interviewer off to the next question, but it isn't the truth, per se. Afterwords the interviewer asks you, off the record, what the real answer is. Since this is off the record of the interview you are willing to fully answer the question. Basically the same difference as officially and unofficially.

So MrScott could have a point, if he's not joking that is.

Who? Me? Maybe partly, but I also have a background in media and have seen how those 2 words can cover an interviewee's butt.

And hide the actual truth.

(OH, and BTW: "Officially"--most everything in this world is for sale...for a price. If someone offered 25 million for DT, do you think they'd refuse it?)

For example, in 3-5 years Space Adventures will be taking people for a trip around the moon. It will cost a measly 100 Million Dollars. They already have 2 people lined up.

Yeah I doubt Cedar Point would sell Disaster Transport for that kind of money, they'd probably scrap it instead. I think Disaster Transport is a good ride. You have to make it more interesting. For example what I like to do when riding is scream out loud in the dark. BATS BATS BATS BATS"!!!

Cedar Point wouldn't HESITATE to sell it if that price was offered. They certainly WOULD sell it (if someone will pay) however WILL they sell it for that much? Probably not since noone would want to pay that much.

I would hope it would be DT that ride is a total waste of space.

I'm still what most of you would consider a "young'n" and didn't get into coasters/CP seriously until about last year, thus I didn't notice a lot of the things we're speculating (in terms of the other rides that have gone down, looking for a pattern). Did things like the Swan Boats, Pirate Ride, Schwabinchen etc suffer from lack of popularity before they were scrapped, or was it something else? Maybe we're on the wrong tack here, about taking out unpopular rides...

I should have known Walt would have a picture, but I remember that building now from the picture, thanks to both you guys that answered my question.

GeForce: as for the smaller rides being taken out in the past, and for Schwabinchen a big factor was high cost of maintinence on the aging ride and it was a prime location for Chaos to be moved to with the addition of Dragster.

And the Pirate Ride also was victim of more factors than popularity with theming not being upkept and according to some posters on here admiting to it in past threads people liked to get up and walk around the ride, but I was to young to remember anyone doing that

oh and yes, indeed holy head choppers for CCMR: I am only 6'2" and feeling the need to win my argument that you would hit your hands those spots on CCMR that get close my hands hit almost a foot above the bottom

You can hit your hand on the overhangs on CCMR. I've accidentally done it a couple of times when riding on the right side of the train. I don't reccomend trying though, it really makes your hand tingle and most times you get a hand full of grease.

With CP's knack for safety I am suprised they haven't addressed this minor issue.

I smacked my hand on the celing of DT earlier this year. It was right before the "losing control" drop. I had my hands up and I was on the right hand side. I ended up saying something like "Oh no!. I'm losing con-**** that hurt"

My friend actually grazed his hand in the last tunnel on Maggie, and my hand is usually less than an inch away most of the time as well. Sometimes that last bunny hop can really throw you up.

Is it possible that more than one could be for sale?

Looks like Demon Drop is gone as well. It has now been listed on the same site as being up for sale.
